“That is literally what you are doing on this thread.” Absolute nonsense the very opposite has been stated many times that women and girls can wear, do, say and think what they like and it doesn’t make them less female!

Winesalot · 09/03/2020 17:35

Much more descriptive Empress. I think I shall adopt the usage.

maybe an extra o after the first o as well and then the space ... Works for me too.

HerRoyalCarbyLess · 09/03/2020 17:04

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons

Indeed. Respectful 4 year olds are not normal.
They should be causing chaos and shouting about "look at that man's eye patch, so is he a pirate mummy?" HmmGrin

EmpressLangClegInChair · 09/03/2020 16:59

im leaning towards the idea that gender just is not real so anything -gender isn’t real either

Absolutely. Gender is a load of misogynist bollocks.

I have spoken to a couple of other women who all have moved this year to that mindset that there should be no space in transwoman as trans is not an adjective. It is a subset of men.

transwo man?

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 09/03/2020 16:53

I think it is clear, or it must be to you by now that we have a fundamental ideological disagreement GrinGrinGrin
I love this board

Also known a lot of 4 yr olds & a “respectful” one would worry me - inquisitive, cheeky, loud, grubby, ferocious are the words that come to my mind.

NotAGirl · 09/03/2020 15:57

Just caught up with the full thread the men thinking they are better at womening Grin and the women happy to throw away theirs and their young daughters rights aren't having the effect they think they are Wink

ErrolTheDragon · 09/03/2020 15:48

Given the attempts to hijack IWD yesterday, it seems only fair to continue with it today.

Sypha · 09/03/2020 15:34

IWD may have ended, but I'm still going to express my grateful thanks to FWR board, its articulate posters AND to Mumsnet HQ for continuing to run the board in the face of such pressure in recent years.

Justhadathought · 09/03/2020 14:58

Allowing males to trample all over the definition of woman, and call it hateful and transphobic, is about as far from feminism as anything can be

Indeed! It is the absolute antithesis...and that is why there is such a passionate and rapidly developing new movement of women absolutely committed to this issue....Many of whom have not felt quite so energised politically for years ( I certainly speak for myself here).

NotAGirl · 09/03/2020 14:46

Belated happy IWD to the wonderful women here on FWR

I spent yesterday visiting MIL who is late stage dementia. The joy on her face as she looked at pics of my granddaughter was moving. She no longer has the capacity to understand who that wee lass is but her maternal love love shines through.

Very Happy IWD to all those generations of women doing the unpaid womanwork the world depends on Flowers

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 09/03/2020 14:45

I don't think it is a joke...

occulus · 09/03/2020 14:44

One can delete the words, but not the truth eh @FlockofGulls Wink

FlockofGulls · 09/03/2020 14:43

It's a joke, surely?

Siameasy · 09/03/2020 14:37

That there is peak hand maiden, the Ellie Mae tweet

FlockofGulls · 09/03/2020 14:34

The strive for equality will be lost on you because you're a man so you already have it. As a man you don't need the rights and protections that women have fought for and which the trans movement seeks to erode.

Be careful @occulus I think I was deleted upthread for writing something less obviously truthful than this.** TRAs can't bear women to argue back. Or state fact.

**Actually can't remember what exactly I wrote, but someone is trigger-happy.

The more pressure is applied to women, the more distinctive that subset of men become.

It seems to me that women who have joined their voices to these male voices are those who live in a bubble seemingly untouched by domestic violence or any male to female violence (or immune to it due to horrific events of their past), or have not put a name to workplace discrimination, and believe it will never happen to them, or are part of the ‘cool’ brigade.

If you believe that there is no basis at all for maintaining separate spaces, how do you reconcile the cases that are coming to light of transgender women sex offenders that are well above the female level of sex offenders and often so much more violent?

Or, as the transgender community do, do you ignore them as there are always ‘bad people’. And continue to ignore that the % is still much higher than female offenders.

I actually think it’s more of an attempt to make women the secondary category in their own sex, with male born people who identify as trans, as first.

I have been searching for the tweet this weekend which wished "women and ciswomen a happy IWD". Maybe one of you saved it?

Just fuck off with that shit.

occulus · 09/03/2020 13:50

I note that the first post of this thread (and a number of others that follow) centre the advancement of women on the denial of recognition to trans women.

To the who posted this. IWD focuses on the strive for equality as much as women's achievement. The strive for equality will be lost on you because you're a man so you already have it. As a man you don't need the rights and protections that women have fought for and which the trans movement seeks to erode. So the denial of recognition to men who identify as women is central to the ongoing fight for equality.

FlockofGulls · 09/03/2020 13:44

The word trans woman is a weasel word because people think it’s a type of woman

I tend to omit the space between "trans" and "woman" - it makes it clear that I don't use "trans" simply as an adjective to describe a sub-set of "woman" - say, in the way that we might say "black woman" or "tall woman" or blonde woman." It makes it a different category.

Transwomen are transwomen - and there's nothing wrong with that.

theflushedzebra · 09/03/2020 13:33

Yes I've seen "women and cis women" too. Unbelievable dickery.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 09/03/2020 13:28

There have been quite a few instances crop up of the phrase 'women and Cis women' being used.

The second sex even within the colonised realm of 'women'. Hmm

So, yeah, any woman with an ounce of self respect and respect for other women will reject this nasty linguistic trick.

Siameasy · 09/03/2020 13:27

Yes Lord I shall use those. The word trans woman is a weasel word because people think it’s a type of woman
