Arhjl it’s Richard Herring. He painstakingly posts “19th of November” to all the disgruntled insecure men who think they’re handing out gotchas.

Happy International Women's Day!!

I'm glad for this space where women (the adult human female kind) from all backgrounds can share their viewpoints and concerns, their analysis and their jokes, as well as their 'lived' experiences that are usually ignored in favour of anyone male.

There's still a long way to go for women in many parts of the world to gain even basic rights and recognition and safety. I've realised over the past few years how we must never take our rights and freedoms here for granted. The astonishing rapidity with which they can be rolled back means we must always be vigilant for attempts to undermine our rights as we work towards better conditions and opportunities for women everywhere.

Happy IWD to all of the amazing MNers who have taught me so much.

OnlyTheLangoftheTitBerg · 08/03/2020 10:44

Happy IWD vipers!

I owe so much to the clever, articulate, funny, forceful women - past and present - on FWR.

Arhjl · 08/03/2020 10:43

Happy IWD to my fellow females!

Can someone remind me who the celeb man is that spends today replying to tweets by men asking when their day is??

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 08/03/2020 10:42

Happy International Women’s Day!

Sending love to all human females and extra love to the many magnificent FWR contributors.

Sending Flowers to Lang and all the other feminists forced from this board.

Winesalot · 08/03/2020 10:42

I am always amazed though that the one day of the year to recognize the efforts of past women and what is needed to continue to their efforts gets hijacked.

Winesalot · 08/03/2020 10:39

Great to know as a lawyer Robin you are doing your best for your client. Thank you.

GroggyLegs · 08/03/2020 10:37

Oooh JackiFazaki - I might get that printed on a flag!

Which men won't permit me to fly

Babdoc · 08/03/2020 10:37

Happy IWD! One whole day a year, just for women, when we won’t get harangued by TRAs demanding attention, policing our speech and trying to colonise our spaces. Oh, wait...

Languishingfemale · 08/03/2020 10:37

And a very special thank you to all the brave women - politicians, journalists, educationists, lawyers, scientists, detransitioners, authors and poets, sportswomen, feminists, activists, members of FPFW, WPUK, Transgendertrend, Stand Up for Women, LGB Alliance and the rest that I have forgotten for sticking your heads above that very crowded parapet and speaking up for the rights of adult human females everywhere.
As the great journalist Suzanne Moore recently commented:
There are more of us than you think .

Gilderoy Lockhart has just barged in.

LynnSchmob · 08/03/2020 10:36

Happy international women’s day everyone.

This is to celebrate people who have never owned a penis. AKA women.

GroggyLegs · 08/03/2020 10:36

Despite my piss poor womaning in comparison to others who are SO much better & effective at it than me...

Happy IWD fellow females!

Cocolapew · 08/03/2020 10:34

Cocolapew · 08/03/2020 10:34

Thank you to ask the amazing women on here who have taught me so much.
I read this board every day and everyone is so brave, eloquent and funny.

JackiFazaki · 08/03/2020 10:32

For the the amazing sisterhood of FWR Flowers
Thank you.

To the wrongs that need resistance.
To the right that needs assistance.
To the future in the distance.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Thank you seems inadequate to convey my appreciation to all the adult human females who have defined the word woman through the ages. And to all who are fighting to keep the definition alive today.

And to all those on Mumsnet who have helped me feel sane, who have explained things with clarity and exposing sunlight as it goes. Thank you!

You may well have not been here long but your contributions have been epic.

SarahTancredi · 08/03/2020 10:19

Happy IWD and thank you to all the amazing women both on here and those who have been booted off for their honesty and bravery

RobinMoiraWhite · 08/03/2020 10:18

Happy women’s day indeed.

Ironic, in a way, that I, as a trans woman, will be spending part of today preparing a pregnancy dismissal case on behalf of a claimant.

I note that the first post of this thread (and a number of others that follow) centre the advancement of women on the denial of recognition to trans women.

There is SO much to do to advance the position of women, that You might want to take a moment on IWD to consider whether you have that right. I have been, and will be involved in a number of events around IWD, whose organisers are working for positive progress of women in the law or industry sectors in which I am involved.

I’m sure this post will be followed by the usual howls about ‘men telling us how to be women’ and the like. Fine. That just proves the point.

What practical positive step are you taking to advance the position on women on IWD?
