Julie Bindel Women's day hijacked by trans activists

In a blistering article in the Telegraph, Julie Bindel cites the Professor Selina Todd deplatforming, the removal of the dictionary definition of women because of 'hate speech' accusations and the myriad other examples of the colonisation of Women's day by those who insist 'women' is a choice based on feelings.

But my main bone of contention is reserved for the LGBT Foundation in Manchester. One of its events for IWD, advertised as being open to “all self-identifying women who identify as lesbian, bisexual, queer or questioning, all or part of the time” is run by a man who identifies as non-binary and is entitled, ‘Intro to rope bondage’. The idea that ‘playing’ with sadistic sexual practices is anything to do with women’s liberation beggars belief

And - the horror - she’s right wing ! Good god how shocking.

Actually she’s been a lifelong Labour Party Voter although not now I expect.

Even if she secretly sends love letters to Boris Johnson and recites the Telegraph to herself nightly, the fact of someone being right wing doesn’t make them wrong. Even if she disagrees with you on - gasp - immigration. She might have a coherent argument to make. That’s what I take from the Brexit debacle - claiming to be the progressive side while sneering at people who disagree with you is not what serious people do.

If I had any residual loyalty to the parties of the left this trans agenda nonsense has beaten it out of me and I’m free to agree with whoever I think has the most cogent arguments. It’s quite liberating.

SapphosRock · 06/03/2020 17:55

Well it made the BBC and I wouldn't say the article was particularly complimentary to whoever provided the flags, especially considering the title.

her Tweets claiming trans people should be sterilised

Again, I'm not in agreement with her but this is very disingenuous.

She suggested that (in line with many countries) full SR surgery should be a requirement for a GRC. Her mistake was a badly phrased last tweet of the chain which could be taken out of context.

BovaryX · 06/03/2020 17:52

Yes. It made into the MSM and if you think anyone outside of a far left twitter bubble feels sorry for transactivists I've got a bridge I can sell you

These are the people who think Owen Jones is a clairvoyant and are still reeling in shock and awe from the election result.....

The definition of woman is not a slogan that Posie owns FFS

Ridiculous

GodwinsRulebook · 06/03/2020 17:48

This is a war on language

Not just on language, but on the fundamental definition & concept of what it is to be a woman. And an attack on the validity and value of our lived experiences as girls and women.

THAT is what makes me ragingly furious

TedsFederationRep · 06/03/2020 17:48

And MP Jackie Doyle Price, who gave a cracking speech yesterday in the House of Commons yesterday on the subject.

OvaHere · 06/03/2020 17:47

Yes. It made into the MSM and if you think anyone outside of a far left twitter bubble feels sorry for transactivists I've got a bridge I can sell you.

Organisations may crumble and pander at the moment but most do it out of fear not love or admiration. That's not a solid basis for a movement and it will eventually fall apart at the seams.

BovaryX · 06/03/2020 17:46

The result? People feel sorry for the trans activists and IWD is centring trans people all the more

Nope. That's not the result. Harry Miller. Keira Bell. Maya Forstater. Professor Selina Todd. Justice Knowles. James Kirkup. Julie Bindel. You really don't get it, do you? The insidious advance of an undemocratic, authoritarian lobby is making headline news every day. The fact you are unable to see that the this exposure doesn't elicit sympathy? Echo chamber thinking.

OP posts:
Binterested · 06/03/2020 17:40

Yup. Alerted thousands more people to the lunacy of this agenda.

SapphosRock · 06/03/2020 17:39

Did it achieve anything positive?

Binterested · 06/03/2020 17:39

If it’s anti trans to say woman = adult human female then so be it. It’s also true

This whole agenda depends on people being terrified of being labelled ‘transphobic’ or ‘anti trans’. But once people realise that perfectly ordinary common sense positions like the above or like the statement that Only Women Menstruate are transphobic and anti trans they’ll stop worrying about being labelled as such. Because it’s basic bollocks.

SapphosRock · 06/03/2020 17:38

So from what I can see the flag was removed, someone pointed out that PP is a right wing anti trans activist, her Tweets claiming trans people should be sterilised are shared... the council apologises profusely.

The result? People feel sorry for the trans activists and IWD is centring trans people all the more.

BovaryX · 06/03/2020 17:38

Is it fuck. You can't get more pro-woman that the actual material definition of what we are

Precisely. And you can't get more dismissive or contemptuous than an attempt to redefine a word whose meaning has existed for millennia across cultures. This is a war on language, it is an attempt to permanently sever the relationship between external reality and the words which describe it. Newspeak on the 70th anniversary of Orwell's death.

Surprised she spoke up in defence of Posie Parker's flag though - definitely an anti-trans statement rather than pro-woman.

I'm sometimes a little suspicious of Posie's motives but I can't imagine any way that flag is an anti-trans statement (unless you are a TRA who considers reality transphobic).

It's a pretty pass if we can't put up a dictionary definition on IWD. I would expect any reasonable person to be bothered by that.

OvaHere · 06/03/2020 17:27

definitely an anti-trans statement rather than pro-woman

Is it fuck. You can't get more pro-woman that the actual material definition of what we are.

And whilst Posie has cleverly utilised it to provoke misogynists she no more owns the dictionary definition of woman than I do or any of the other billions of women on the planet.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/03/2020 17:27

The dictionary definition of 'woman' does not belong to Posie Parker. (But even less so to the male anti woman dog-whistler HarropHmm)

ThePurported · 06/03/2020 17:21

The flag isn't anti-trans. It draws attention to the ongoing erasure of women, and IWD is an opportunity to highlight current issues affecting women.

WelshMoth · 06/03/2020 17:18

pigsknickers you're not incoherent. Well done for speaking out against this. One day to centre women, and we're still not fucking allowed to do it without the wail (TWAW) going up.

They're femphobic (is there such a word? If not, there should be).

BovaryX · 06/03/2020 17:11

Surprised she spoke up in defence of Posie Parker's flag though

Why are you 'surprised' by Julie Bindel's scathing reaction to the removal of the dictionary definition of women? On IWD? She is a left wing feminist who doesn't believe men can self identify into an oppressed sex class. Your 'surprise' is indicative of a failure to understand Bindel's position. But Julie Bindel isn't alone. Conservatives, classic Liberals, anyone who cares about freedom of speech are opposed to this lobby because of its radical agenda and its authoritarian tendencies. The more the grim antics of this oppressive lobby and its colonists make headline news? The more resistance.

Great article from the great Julie Bindel. Thanks for sharing OP.

Surprised she spoke up in defence of Posie Parker's flag though - definitely an anti-trans statement rather than pro-woman. They must have made up after their recent spat.

pigsknickers · 06/03/2020 16:18

Sorry that was incoherent. Not good at social media confrontation.

pigsknickers · 06/03/2020 16:16

FFS. I just came on here for a bit of respite as I'm shaking after (gently) responding to a FB post imploring women to "be inclusive" on IWD, in other words centre trans women because they have it the hardest. Just what the fucking fuck? This is from an otherwise lovely woman who is committed to equality and helping people and all the rest - I mean that's where it comes from isn't it - but so am I! I'm not a bigot just because I believe IWD is about women! Although I am of course. Grrr.

Lordfrontpaw · 06/03/2020 15:46

My god! Mum used to joke that out old dog was a beaten wife in a past last life.

She would just not go to men - she would even growl if a man tried to pet her. The vet noticed it too - she would be licking the female vets but would be a nightmare with the male one.

FloralBinting · 06/03/2020 15:39

My dog is transphobic. He can tell the difference between a man and a woman, and behaves differently to each.

So yep, reality is indeed, a 'transphobic dog whistle'.
