So disappointed I can make it but will be wishing you all well

334bu · 03/03/2020 20:15

Coming through from the west. Might see some of you on the bus, or train if I sleep in. Feeling a bit nervous as I had really hoped that my protest days were behind me. Damn you Mumsnet for re -radicalising me. 😁

NonnyMouse1337 · 03/03/2020 19:55

Yay! I'm genuinely excited. I hope we have a good turn out. :)

Special thanks to all those traveling from outside Edinburgh at such short notice.

There will be placards available, but of course feel free to bring your own!
Slogans that challenge the Scottish government's GRA proposals would be good, as well as those around upholding free speech, women's rights etc.

jen1wren · 03/03/2020 19:47

Yeah, I'll probably have it rolled up whilst travelling. Felt self conscious about my placard for anti brexit/ anti no deal march too Confused Tho it did say "If I don't get my Lithium I'm gonna go mental" BlushMy protests have been pretty successful so far as you can seeGrin

ScrimshawTheSecond · 03/03/2020 19:44

Hope it goes well, sorry I can't make it.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/03/2020 19:37

Me too, I'll be taking more of a poster than a placard so I'm stealth until I get there

MadamePewter · 03/03/2020 19:36

I feel weirdly embarrassed to have a placard. I don’t know why!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/03/2020 19:34

I was thinking "women's rights are human rights"?

jen1wren · 03/03/2020 19:32

I will be going. Travelling by bus from Glasgow if anyone wants to meet up. Hopefully my for women badge will have arrived by then. Will prob make a placard, maybe "I'm not just a thought in a man's head." Other suggestion welcome. Poster paints will be out on Fri night.

OllyBJolly · 03/03/2020 18:43

I'm planning to go

NonnyMouse1337 · 03/03/2020 18:28

Great to have you along, MadamePewter!

Details about demonstration were only publicised yesterday, so the word still needs to get around.

MadamePewter · 03/03/2020 16:38

Thanks, first I’d seen of this. Might be able to go- would be my second ever protest: I’m getting proper political in my old age 😃

stumbledin · 03/03/2020 16:29

Just came back to say there is now a notice on the web site so all very open and shareable!!

forwomen.scot/demonstration/

I miss the thumbs up sign from facebook = (Y) - so please imagine lots of these (Y) (Y) (Y)

NonnyMouse1337 · 03/03/2020 15:28

Yes, please share far and wide! Thanks for the well wishes. Smile

stumbledin · 03/03/2020 13:56

Many thanks for the more detailed info and web link.

I am assuming okay to share (ie its not like asecret, surprise event).

Just wanted to post on facebook and a couple of mailing lists.

Its too far for me to be there but wanted to do something!

Hope all goes well.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/03/2020 11:49

I am thanks, I have leaflets, stickers & cards from the fabulous FWS Grin

NonnyMouse1337 · 03/03/2020 11:08

A crèche to enable women to attend some of these meetings and events would be amazing!

Are you on the FWS mailing list? If you don't already have some, you can ask FWS to post you some leaflets relating to the proposed GRA reforms that you could pass along to friends and family that might be interested, or leave them around in cafes when out and about with the children.
Only a couple of weeks to go, so the more awareness the better.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/03/2020 10:27

Yes, that would have been ideal, but a number of women have had to do quite a bit of coordinating in very tight timescales in among organising other things around the consultation.
Oh yes of course, I do understand why the notice is short just wishing my life was more adaptable!
I am promising myself that when my kids are grown I will make a point of attending the things I know other feminist carers might struggle to get to Smile (or maybe I will run a crèche for meetings!)

SisyphusLangClegRocks · 03/03/2020 09:25

Bump

lionheart · 03/03/2020 07:44

Thanks Gibbons. Smile

NonnyMouse1337 · 03/03/2020 06:41

I wish there had been more notice

stumbledin try this link -

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/03/2020 00:53

I have this from forwomen.scot (via email)

“SAVE OUR SINGLE-SEX SPACES

Please join us for a demonstration outside the Scottish Parliament at 2pm on Saturday 7th March (to coincide with the Scottish Women's Convention and the day before International Women's Day).

All women and men welcome. Placards provided. Fancy-dress encouraged (suffragettes, witches, whatever!).

Let's get the Scottish Government to answer some of our questions!”

stumbledin · 03/03/2020 00:36

Is there a link to a fuller notice about the demo.

I've looked on the forwomen.scot site but cant see anything.

Would like to share but think some might find it hard to decide to come not know if it is demo outside the buildings, a meeting or ....

Thanks for anyone with more info or ideally a web link.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/03/2020 00:15

There is a thread here Lion

Yes I think you’re right Holyrood will be well policed & quite safe. (I still can’t go though Sad because I actually have all the kids & 2 don’t do crowds - I wish there had been more notice)
