The leadership candidates are about to speak at this event. Just watched the deputies and they all said the same thing from the same script.

Pink news are streaming and currently there's me and 56 others watching live online!

FiLiA is asking for a women's hustings - what do you think the chances are.... twitter.com/FiLiA_charity/status/1230766242870415361?s=20

theflushedzebra · 21/02/2020 07:47

So I think this was less "Labour Leadership Hustings" and more an extension "Pink Awards Ceremony" - with everyone all agreeing and trying to out-do themselves on just how incredibly Pink they are.

theflushedzebra · 21/02/2020 07:44

Thanks moofolk.

This clearly wasn't a hustings in any conventional sense of the word - as a PP said, more like a chat show. Benjamin Cohen reading the questions out Hmm and any interaction from the audience barred. "No awkwad questions, now people!!

Moofolk - I'm watching some of it this morning - and when you asked about the conversion therapy and children - and that man shouted "Fuck off you terf" - I sensed some real discomfort on Starmer and Nandy's faces.

I believe they are perfectly aware that the treatment of children IS very problematic (they must have at least heard about the Tavistock whistleblowers!) and I do think it makes them uncomfortable. I'm partic shocked at Starmer - a Labour veteran, and I thought previous "solid Labour bloke" just being swept along with this ideology.

There is something deeply rotten in the Labour party - "Blair" (the only labour leader to have won an election in my living memory) is now a dirty word. Why? Not left enough? - well, he won 3 elections. Iraq? I was against Iraq too - but these v young Labourites must have v little meaningful memory of it, surely? I was bf'ing my DS1 when it started, and he's 18 now. But it's become something to vilify Blair - and I suppose as is the culture now, assume every single other thing he ever did was "bad" ?

My favourite memory of Pride is before it was commercialised and the festival held in Kennington Park and lesbians actually felt welcome and able to go.

Angryresister · 21/02/2020 05:22

So sick of people not hearing our concerns. Well done and thank you speaking out so clearly in a clearly hostile environment.all about the men.

armchairactivists · 21/02/2020 03:09

stumbledin here's the short version of the link for you:

www.facebook.com/328537087979058/videos/177876480178474/

A tip - for lots of URLs you can delete everything from the question mark: the stuff after that isn't neccessary, often it's marketing info eg it might be tell the website you followed a link from twitter or something but nothing to do with the actual web address.

(An exception is Youtube links, the stuff after the question mark is part of the address).

LouHotel · 21/02/2020 00:42

You bloody hero.

VortexofBloggery · 20/02/2020 23:53

Thank you moofolk for speaking up. I am angry watching, can't imagine how nerve wracking that was. Nandy projecting "they're shutting down debate" on the other clip was sinister as fuck. Thank you, brave woman. Gin

nettie434 · 20/02/2020 23:51

Tony Blair is an unexpected ally of women.

Was just looking to see if anyone had posted about that strawberrylipgloss

I wonder if the leader and deputy leadership candidates are remotely interested in winning an election. There is no point in winning the Purity Prize if you are never going to be in a position to implement your policies.

donquixotedelamancha · 20/02/2020 23:36

At pink news we believe in impartiality

LMAO.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 20/02/2020 23:16

Well done moofolk. You're a shero.

But those poor excuses for MPs who want to be Labour leader - unbelievable that they went to a hustings and didn't engage with the audience i.e. you, the cowards that they are. They're supposed to earn your vote and show how they would support you yet not one of them can handle a different point of view. Shame on them. If that's all Labour has, no wonder it's finished.

ZIGGY7 · 20/02/2020 23:00

Thank you so much @moofolk. 💐

FloralBunting · 20/02/2020 22:59

Well, obviously, heterosexual politicians don't give a crap about lesbians. They just want to go to a party with rainbow tat and glitter.

BlackForestCake · 20/02/2020 22:52

The way they just go on to "so what's your favourite memory of Pride?" like they're on the fucking Graham Norton show or something.

Siameasy · 20/02/2020 22:45

Why is Ash Sarkar given a bloody opportunity she’s pointless

I am so fucked off.

We've got a huge tory majority government and they are making very frightening noises on all sorts of things.

Labour might be unelectable for the next decade or so but we still need them to be a decent opposition. We still need someone asking the hard questions at PMQ and we need that person to be credible. Boris's government needs to be held to account.

What the fuck is wrong with them? Confused

littlbrowndog · 20/02/2020 22:36

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 20/02/2020 22:29

Well done Moo Gin

DickKerrLadies · 20/02/2020 22:27

Did I hear misgendering from Lisa Nandy when describing how a 'guy' picked her up and ran off with her? Tut, tut.

(BTW, where's she from? I don't think she mentioned it...)

This is the wonderful, post-Corbyn Labour party? I'd laugh if it wasn't so depressing and we didn't have Boris Johnson as PM. For the men, not for you indeed.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 20/02/2020 22:24

Make sure you write to him, LittlB - tell him you can’t vote for anyone that will support laws and policies that put rapists in male prisons!

littlbrowndog · 20/02/2020 22:22

littlbrowndog · 20/02/2020 22:21
