Clip from GBM interview this morning.
twitter.com/JammersMinde/status/1229439480064610308
She said "Babies are born without sex"
Unless she said something after to clarify what she meant by this or backtracked then I guess this is her starting point....
Astounding. Labour have lost the plot, and me.

And we have a Conservative government kite-flying eugenics.

It just brings me to the edge of despair.

Apart from anything else, if you have the wherewithal to invest heavily in this ideology, you are - frankly - in a fairly comfy place.

Yes, I know trans lives are tough.

But developing this ideology requires graduate-level theory and access to media to disseminate it.

It's miles away from the lives of most of the people who need a Labour government.

And the fact Labour Leader-hopefuls and Deputy-Leader hopefuls spend so much time on this, and clearly not counting the pennies at the till in Lidl - well, it alienates people.

And that's before we get onto the issue of what it does to women's rights.

thecatfromjapan · 17/02/2020 23:38

Sympathy to you testing.

It's really tough.

I just feel like crying sometimes.

thecatfromjapan · 17/02/2020 23:37

I'm actually quite enjoying people trying to fit what she said with their existing scheme of understanding by claiming she meant to say 'gender'.

Boy, are they in for a wake-up!

SirVixofVixHall · 17/02/2020 23:36

I believe it because I have seen the same stuff trotted out on twitter. Also because I heard an ardent Labour supporter I know insist that male people had no advantage whatsoever over female people in sports, when they took testosterone reducing meds.
There is a huge amount of fact denial and a lack of basic scientific knowledge.

testing987654321 · 17/02/2020 23:35

Not disagreeing with you cat, was more a general observation.

I am currently somewhere between despair and fury at the Labour Party.

Apollo440 · 17/02/2020 23:30

It's hard to believe because it is batshit!

thecatfromjapan · 17/02/2020 23:21

No, testing. She meant 'sex'.

I actually don't know why people find this hard to believe.

testing987654321 · 17/02/2020 23:18

People often say a word they didn't mean. As a teaching assistant I noticed it a lot, it's easily done and when juggling a number of thoughts.

Butler just came across as dafter than Nandy, quite an achievement.

tobee · 17/02/2020 23:15

Don't plenty of US states teach creationism? By law? I think some of US science education is all kinds of fucked up

thecatfromjapan · 17/02/2020 23:08

No.

She meant sex.

She's 400 flavours of giraffe.

Whoever's her political adviser is well on board with it all.

And so is Dawn.

Apollo440 · 17/02/2020 23:04

Isn't it worse if she meant gender and not sex? Trans cult insists gender is innate so saying you are born without gender is heresy.

DameHannahRelf · 17/02/2020 23:00

If scientists discover a cause for the whole pink/blue brain thing, I'll be the first to apologise for my ignorance. Until then though...

RubyViolet · 17/02/2020 22:59

While we’re at it .. How does Dawn think they decide race at birth? Or .... no.

UpfieldHatesWomen · 17/02/2020 22:56

Entrance exams wouldn't be such a bad idea. Question 1: Define 'woman'.

Bathroom12345 · 17/02/2020 22:53

I don’t think Dawn or Diane would be stupid enough to go on GMB when Piers was hosting, no wait.....

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 17/02/2020 22:53

Can we please now introduce a minimum standard of intelligence for anyone wanting to be elected as a politician?

I can cope with politicians I disagree with, but I really have had enough of those too stupid to understand their own utterances.

SirVixofVixHall · 17/02/2020 22:52

I have seen American TRAs on twitter, saying that all embryos start out neuter, and sex then develops in utero. I assume this is based on the fact that male and female embryos look the same early on. Is the US a country rather lacking in its science education ?
I think this is what she has believed.

StinkyWizleteets · 17/02/2020 22:50

My friend recently lost her unborn baby to a condition only females get. Maybe Butler would like to explain to her about sexless babies...

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 17/02/2020 22:49

I didn’t think anything could top what Lisa Nandy said about how she would put male rapists in women’s prisons if that’s what they want.

Then Dawn Butler says babies are born without a sex.

And we are supposed to take these people seriously? We are supposed to entrust the running of our country to them?? How can they have so little awareness of how they come over, never mind all the rest??

UpfieldHatesWomen · 17/02/2020 22:41

tobee Yes, I'm thinking more along the lines of Derek Acorah

LynnSchmob · 17/02/2020 22:37

I can’t quite believe I’m about to type this but it’s a real shame that Piers Morgan was having a day off.

tobee · 17/02/2020 22:35

Not sure "reality" tv is quite the right term!

UpfieldHatesWomen · 17/02/2020 22:29

I hope a journalist picks up on this. How can such a stupid statement go unchallenged?! I'm hoping Janice Turner's reading, loved reading her comments about 'soul-seeing' Layla Moron in her last article. Perhaps Layla could be of service in maternity wards to assigning gender to Dr Dawn's sexless babies. They could have their own reality TV show, or at least I hope to fuck reality TV is the direction their careers are heading in and not politics.

nonsenceagain · 17/02/2020 22:28

Appalling but I still don't think many people care. Will this really relegate Labour to 10+ years out of office? Doubt it. Other crazy policies will, but I don't think most voters care enough about women or girls to be very bothered.

thecatfromjapan · 17/02/2020 22:11

The thing is, trans ideology is now the 'gatekeeper belief' of liberals and progressives.

If you don't sign up , you are excluded.

Look at what's happening to women, and a handful of men, who say, 'No.'

It's like when a profession of faith in the 39 Articles worked to keep Nat-sayers out of Oxford.
