I am going to publish an email trail here, which I believe shows just how far regulatory capture has gone. It shows how questions are ignored, words twisted, and the LAW, the Equality Act 2010 is wilfully misrepresented.
Here goes.....

and another thing (am really tetchy today) trans rights now conflicts with gay rights and women's rights, therefore they should not be the same department.

highame · 27/01/2021 12:23

well put Baroness, something like that might go in my Government Equalities Office submission

BaronessWrongCrowd · 27/01/2021 12:19

Caroline Noakes's awful bias is such that she should not hold the position that she does. I'm firmly of the opinion that if one does not know what a woman is, as Ms Noakes has demonstrated that she does not, then one should not be sticking one's oar in with regard to the rights of women and girls nor should one (still looking at you Ms Noakes) be on any committee that could influence policy relating to the female sex.

highame · 27/01/2021 12:12

Sorry Chair not minister

highame · 27/01/2021 12:11

Why should we have a woman minister for women who we don't like or trust?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/01/2021 12:00

Caroline Nokes is awful. Maria Miller Mark 2.

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 27/01/2021 11:56

In that Daily Mail article: "Caroline Nokes, Tory chairman of the Commons women and equalities committee, told the newspaper: ‘By not putting up female ministers to speak on the main political Sunday morning programmes, the party is failing to engage with half of the electorate."

Well, it would be very nice if SHE engaged with half of the electorate, and made a better effort to represent us - especially since it's her JOB!!!

A new batch of responses on the GRA consultation- a few familiar names 😉

Quite a lot of sensible responses, some from men and academics I’m pleased to note. Mine still not there - they’ve probably hit a long way to go, must be snowed under with all these consultations.

Don’t forget the ones for toilets and free speech.

Thanks for the reminder on the 'sex' based rights. I just can't believe that every time I mention women now, it needs to be related to sex and not gender

UppityPuppity · 26/01/2021 07:53

Thanks for the reminder. Will fill it out today.

All must respond - annoying more work for us all - but it’s important.

MoleSmokes · 26/01/2021 02:30

highame - ” I want a separate women's Secretary of State, unaligned to other equalities because it is unique and all other inequality headings have women - race, religion, race, disability etc etc so we need something distinct.”

Good point! It needs to be sex-based, female though or it will fall straight away to a power-grab by the less than 1% who think it is their god-given right to dictate terms to the 99%

highame · 25/01/2021 16:09

This consultation only has a short life of mid-Feb. Think they're hoping no one will respond. I am going to complete shortly and will be pointing out that the Women and Equalities might not be fit for purpose given how women were treated when they gave evidence about GRA reform. I want a separate women's Secretary of State, unaligned to other equalities because it is unique and all other inequality headings have women - race, religion, race, disability etc etc so we need something distinct.

Sounds to me like Blunt et all are trying to push for a TWAW candidate but I'm not sure he'll get his way

RozWatching · 25/01/2021 13:37

Possibly. There's a new consultation open at the moment, I'll see if I can find the thread.

Imnobody4 · 25/01/2021 13:22

Are they creating a separate post for Women's & Equalities?

RozWatching · 25/01/2021 12:06

Agree that BJ's interest is purely in the 'culture wars'. He could be persuaded to go for a Stonewall-friendly option depending on input from his advisers and corporate activists.

People underestimate how hard Liz Truss has had to fight with her own party. And it's very unlikely that she will keep the portfolio esp now that they are planning on finally creating a separate post for Women & Eq.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/01/2021 01:32

Yes I have thought the same.

GreenUp · 25/01/2021 00:56

Knowing this government, Boris will probably give the portfolio to Crispin Blunt or Caroline Noakes just to drum up some culture war furore headlines to hide the release of the next UK COVID death record.

Needmoresleep · 24/01/2021 23:08

Good and bad news

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9182285/Boris-Johnson-Liz-Truss-senior-role-plans-promote-female-ministers-reshuffle.html

The Mail is suggesting that both Liz Truss and Kemi Badenoch are tipped for promotion in a reshuffle after the local elections in May. Stonewall have already been making noises about Truss being too busy with Trade to cover Equalities as well. They would love to see the back of her.

Let’s hope she gets to keep the portfolio. And if not, that it goes to someone else with spine. The worst outcome would be Boris losing his nerve and appointing someone keen to appease Stonewall.

gardenbird48 · 24/01/2021 08:55

@dyslek

tbf at least they responded. The Labour Party has decided the concerns of women are below consideration if the ignoring of my emails are anything to go by.

I know for a fact my Labour female MP is gender critical but wont speak on the matter for fear of the backlash.

That is extremely concerning. If our elected representatives can’t (or won’t) represent our concerns to parliament then that is a bad day for democracy.
