How can anyone equate “TWAM” with “DIAF terf” or “suck my dick” saying “both are offensive!?”

It might have been a while back but bears repeating.

Isn't it funny how its so clear that TW are not treated as W when it comes to what they're allowed to say.

2BthatUnnoticed · 15/02/2020 13:08

(Oops Sorry I hadn’t refreshed .. that was to something way back .. as you were)

2BthatUnnoticed · 15/02/2020 13:02

WTAF is this insane false equivalence!?

How can anyone equate “TWAM” with “DIAF terf” or “suck my **dick” saying “both are offensive!?”

Where is the violent or rapey intent in TWAM? Where?? I’ve heard it all.

And let's be honest about this:

Women have been told this week that to meet in groups to discuss women's rights is hate and unacceptable.

A crime.

Lloyd whatzit with the beard on national tv, unchallenged.

ALL the labour leadership.

If the very harsh lesson is that women trying to stand up for their rights against unjust oppression will be made to suffer...? Fuck that. I won't live in that kind of a world. I won't be quiet about it either.

fuckitywhy · 15/02/2020 12:42

Yes the internet is a horrible place sometimes.

The equivalent here is your bully getting you fired for standing up for yourself anonymously NoSharon.

Not sure what lesson you'd like us all to learn, but probably time to get off that fence either way I think, and have some courage in your convictions at least.

ThePurported · 15/02/2020 12:41

In effect this was about someone stalking and digging and intentionally searching for any evidence that someone was still on Twitter under another name and wanting the person punished for having escaped their control

Exactly this.^
Kate Flowers I'll be digging next week.

I did laugh when I read that the judge doesn't like women using words like girldick. We didn't invent the ladydique, Your Honour...

Michelleoftheresistance · 15/02/2020 12:39

I really do think we should all learn a very harsh lesson from this.

I think women are learning harsh lessons constantly about how very anti woman the world has been turned very fast, and how fashionable discriminatory treatment of women has become. However do you feel that women should learn to sit down and in the words of Jane Clare Jones 'keep their little lady mouths shut' and be abused quietly like good girls?

Or do you think the lesson being learned here is that it's time to stand up against this and refuse to accept anti woman legislation and anti woman law and discrimination against females in this country? We're half the population. And the general public are not behind this.

In the words of one stroppy woman-centred person: when the time comes when you have to choose between doing what is easy and doing what's right...….?

What should women do? Because my answer to this is Riddikulus .

andyoldlabour · 15/02/2020 12:28

A criminal conviction for causing annoyance and anxiety, what sort of f'd up world are we living in?
I wish I could sue the FA for every time I have watched an England game and suffered annoyance, anxiety, frustration and anger.
Was that a judge or magistrate who came to that conclusion?

Best wishes to Kate, who is the victim of the best known vexatious litigant in the UK.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 15/02/2020 12:26

There's plenty of truth posted here Nosharon.

Lots of explanations.

Many links.

It's really very easy.

Here are 2 easy to follow threada.

I don't really use twitter as I find it hard to follow. So I'm only going on what has been posted here.

Amalfimamma · 15/02/2020 12:16

Hayden gave evidence in court where hayden admitted going looking for Kate when her tweets to be offended.

Hayden also said that they don't care what women think and the judge had to tell them to not be so argumentative.

All the information is inn the public domain ifmyoure interested in the truth. Just don't so looking for the truth from someone who has multiple fraud convictions (amongst others ) to their name.

NoSharon · 15/02/2020 12:11

To be honest, I think the loss of a career seems to be a massive price to have to pay. I know she behaved poorly, but I would be devastated at such a turn of events.
I really do think we should all learn a very harsh lesson from this. As they say, don't write anything that you wouldn't be happy seen on the front page of a newspaper.

Maybe hatred and possibly anger and who knows, a few too many wines of a night might have spurred Kate into this behaviour, but she really is paying one helluva price for it.
Tbh I'm not sure which side of the fence I'm sitting on this one.

I was the victim of horrific online harassment from one poster on another website many years ago. She seemed to absolutely loathe me and would post things like 'just do everyone a favour and kill yourself' when I would post about feeling suicidal. So I do know the impact vicious communication can have on a person, but on the other hand, I do get the points posted recently about freedom of speech.
I've been the victim of 2 serious crimes and nothing was done by the police apart from lip service to investigating them. And it does feel that perhaps Stephanie brought this complaint as a point of principal, rather than perhaps having faced any real consequences (don't know if there was a victim impact statement?).

We can all learn from this.

Has Kate lost her job over this or was she suspended pending the outcome of the trial?

Kate doesn't currently work. She took a Master's degree in forensic psychology last year with the aim of becoming a forensic psychologist. My understanding is that with a criminal conviction that option will no longer be open to her.

BovaryX · 15/02/2020 11:50

bovary with all the lies and misinformation out there it's only right that at least on the feminist board the truth can be spoken

Well said. It's just appalling. And there is an article in the Telegraph discussing the increase in violent crimes against women. The situation is dysfunctional and untenable. The publicity generated by these cases means more and more people are seeing the authoritarian threat to freedom of speech. Good luck to Kate with her appeal.

Amalfimamma · 15/02/2020 11:39

face well you did admit your anology was shitty hence the shitty answer to it.

I'm off to make some Biscuit for the ever hungry and maybe have some Wine seeing as the thirst is real for some, morning sharon

NoSharon · 15/02/2020 11:24

myfaceisbroken · 15/02/2020 11:23

Amalfi — I was presuming it's obvious you couldn't take a video of another driver's speedometer from the driver's seat, and didn't fancy wasting electrons on an elaborate explanation of who's sat where, with diagrams 😂 No analogy is ever going to be parallel in every detail.

Anyway. As you were…

myfaceisbroken · 15/02/2020 11:18

Not even that fast, though, fuckity. The kind of speeding that's so common most people wouldn't even blink an eye at it. Also this is a universe where nobody ever really knows what the speed limit might be on any given stretch of road.

Be fair, I warned you it was a shit analogy Grin But my first point is that purse-mouthed posts about how she broke the law and these are the consequences are ignoring the fact that the law here doesn't really reflect online social norms, and that taking this to the courts means Scottow has suffered a severe legal consequence for something the average internet user would see as pretty normal, if a bit offensive, and probably wouldn't even realise was illegal. My second point was a comment on how Hayden's behaviour could be seen as petty.

Amalfimamma · 15/02/2020 11:15

myfaceisbroken

No need to say anything.

Apart from the fact that if you behaved as in your, admittedly shit, analogy you yourself could be facing prosecution for taking a video while speeding.......

Keep your silky smooth hands on the wheel mate

bovary with all the lies and misinformation out there it's only right that at least on the feminist board the truth can be spoken

BovaryX · 15/02/2020 11:07

amalfi
Thank you for your informative posts on this. It is truly shocking. I hope she wins her appeal.

fuckitywhy · 15/02/2020 11:02

I mean, I don't think you ever could prosecute someone for speeding without police cameras.

I think the better analogy here would be you forcing someone to go fast somehow by being threatening to them, then taking very dubious evidence of them speeding and then going to court.
