ClodesMouches I think hate is all he has. All the arguments are built on emotion and any ‘facts’ are superficial and crumble to dust in the clear light of day.

Hate is all that is left which is ridiculous as that is what he profess To be fighting.

I thought Selina Todd was brilliant. Calm, measured, polite, on top of the facts. Everything he was not.

Absolutely. She covered a lot of ground in a very short time, and I loved her final word - it was pointed and convincing, unlike the spluttering and spitting of feathers from him as he tried to respond. Selina is a very, very impresive woman.

Lollygaggles · 12/02/2020 12:10

Yes! Yes! to PP who says that wokeyblokey hadn't even read the pledge he was rabidly defending!!

CriticalCondition · 12/02/2020 12:07

Wow. Unlike some on this board I'm not on Twitter or involved in politics and so have little exposure to people like that Labour bloke with the beard.

Watching that was both disturbing and revealing.

I thought Selina Todd was brilliant. Calm, measured, polite, on top of the facts. Everything he was not.

QuiteGood · 12/02/2020 12:07

He's getting totally slammed on twitter. A scroll through the hashtag - suggests the public at large (not just feminists) are incredulous. I can only see 2 tweeters in support one a transwoman & the other is incoherent.

I just cannot for the life of me understand how trans ideology extremists have managed to get such a grip of the party.

Also Lloyd defamed LGB alliance & wpuk as hate groups.

I so wish someone would sue but the style is to match on, shoulders back & head up high.

Melioration · 12/02/2020 12:06

Interestingly the beardy one said he had not read the declaration at the end.

EthelMayFergus · 12/02/2020 12:04

EwwSprouts Bloody hell - he acts like a little kid! Shadow foreign minister - shiiiit. I actually can't imagine ever voting for Labour again.

Doyoumind · 12/02/2020 12:04

Twitter also thinks he's an embarrassment Smile

I hope this story continues to get more coverage today.

2Rebecca · 12/02/2020 12:03

Glad I'm not in the Labour Party, it has joined the SGP (which I left) in being toxic for women. I think any women in the LP would be better standing their ground and forcing the LP to take disciplinary procedures against hundreds of them if they can be bothered with this and think the LP has any policies worth staying in for.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 12/02/2020 12:03

Selina was v good - although there wasn't loads of time (and lots of talking over from beardy eejit), between her and the presenter (also good!) they touched on a number of different aspects which I think will have got people who haven't so far been involved with the issues to prick up their ears and hopefully want to go and find out more. Whereas the beard dug himself into some holes! Also Shaun Bailey spoke up for free speech and against no-platforming.

Rumplestaleskin · 12/02/2020 12:02

Selena was brilliant. She managed to convey the nuts and bolts of the issues surrounding sex and gender which will be immediately accessible to anyone new to the debate.

EwwSprouts · 12/02/2020 12:02

**!! Beardy bloke is the shadow foreign minister. Oh my.

EthelMayFergus · 12/02/2020 12:02

I wonder if he watches that back and realises just how badly he comes across. Just really immature.
Selina is a brilliant speaker, I hope she's given more opportunities like this.

ClosdesMouches · 12/02/2020 11:59

YY about the eyes Melioration.
How often we see that expression in the eyes of a male when we're saying something that doesn't have their full approval.

EwwSprouts · 12/02/2020 11:58

Well that was an eye-opener. Had no clue who beardy man was but he can ID as obnoxious. Selina making solid rational points and he had nothing so losing it.

BinkySodPlop · 12/02/2020 11:57

Watching on catch-up. He's not doing very well, is he? Unlike the measured, articulate responses of the women involved.

Sexnotgender · 12/02/2020 11:57

Missed it, is it on catchup?

ClosdesMouches · 12/02/2020 11:56

Beardy woke bloke also said, off camera and over ST "they are" when ST pointed out that this 'pledge' calls WPUK and LGB Alliance transphobic.

BovaryX · 12/02/2020 11:54

I didn't hear this, but I just want to say, the synopsis on this thread is epic!

Melioration · 12/02/2020 11:52

The eyes. Drilling. Hate.

Made a twat of himself in the next piece too.

Selena was so good. Thank you.

littlbrowndog · 12/02/2020 11:52

It was like when posie owned harrop

Selina owned the beardie.

Doyoumind · 12/02/2020 11:51

Bearded Brighton MP was really vile and telling utter lies whilst Selina remained calm and came across very well. And he went there with the 'sex is not binary because intersex' argument Angry

Redshoeblueshoe · 12/02/2020 11:51

I've just had a quick look, Lloyd was the man who was suspended for grabbing the mace in the HOC.
Are there no adults left in the Labour party ?

LouHotel · 12/02/2020 11:51

Argh just missed it.
