Twitter has taken the baton. Seems people are not happy with being told what to think.

I believe Shelley Charlesworth inadvertently started #expellme. She used it by mistake, then corrected herself and used #expelme

ILikeSneezing · 12/02/2020 15:14

tobee, that’s true. Governments are so yesterday.

tobee · 12/02/2020 15:09

Because a US tech giant thinks its job is to interfere in political dissent in other countries?

And why wouldn't they? Nobody is doing anything to stop them! Angry

dayoftheclownfish · 12/02/2020 13:25

Sorry if this is a stupid question but where are the Blue Labour types in all of this? Or are they just too much of a fringe group to have any influence?

IfNot · 12/02/2020 12:50

Also that tweet you posted Britney just perfectly illustrates the sexism, ageism and classism spouted from the woke idiots.
After all, who is Karen? She's a middle aged working class woman that's who, and she's not taking any more shit.
These kids are all lairy as fuck when they are trashing women's rights but they still want Karen to make them a sandwich. They can fuck off, Karen's busy now.

IfNot · 12/02/2020 12:49

I'm a Labour member and have re-joined the horrendous Twitter just so I can re tweet all the WPUK stuff, and tell Labour to #ExpellMe for knowing that girls and women deserve all female spaces and that men not wanting to include certain types of men doesn't mean that they are automatically included in the group "women".
I'm NOT resigning my membership-women need to be part of the political process. They will have to come get me if they want me gone AND I'm not going quietly.

littlbrowndog · 12/02/2020 12:38

26k despite twitters best efforts to silence it

Neome · 12/02/2020 11:57

#Expelllliarmus? 🧙‍♀️

ErrolTheDragon · 12/02/2020 11:52

why on earth is the hashtag changing and disappearing?

Because a US tech giant thinks its job is to interfere in political dissent in other countries?

SingingLily · 12/02/2020 11:52

If they shut down #expellme too, and I join Twitter just in time for its obvious successor, #expelllme, does that make me Third Wave?

Twitter mods must be on overdrive. Denying biological reality is becoming a full time job for some.

LouHotel · 12/02/2020 11:45

Showing my tech ignorance - why on earth is the hashtag changing and disappearing?

Was watching Jeremy vine about how social media might soon have a watchdog like ofcom, clearly it might need it.

Michelleoftheresistance · 12/02/2020 11:25

It was about 23k when Twitter hid it.

And put up #expellme to split the hashtag and make it look less obvious, and #expelthem was started by gender id extremists to add more confusion and shout how women having rights or even talking about wanting to have rights 'shits all over trans people' as one delightful person tweeted.

It's like they don't want people to see it or something. Or need to silence women. But I think the evidence is now there that they're out and proud that this is a fundamentally anti woman movement.

theflushedzebra · 12/02/2020 11:21

The new #ExpellMe is now trending Grin

Go on Twitter chaps - do your worst.

Evenquieterlife33 · 12/02/2020 11:18

Apparently the original # has been stopped and another now runs in its place to continue.

Evenquieterlife33 · 12/02/2020 11:11

Also can anybody update me on the amount of tweets now with this trend? I can’t see the info on my feed for some reason.

Evenquieterlife33 · 12/02/2020 11:04

You know I’m thinking this is a good thing now. Many of us have put up with this nonsense. Thinking and hoping it will change. I’m glad that they have nailed their colours to the mast. I will now be glad if they do actually mass purge all the GC members. Because then it makes room for a new labour movement. (Not to be confused with New Labour.) one that actually listens to its members and offers a common sense approach to policy.

Binterested · 12/02/2020 10:29

That’s a decent BBC piece. Not by Ben Hunte and therefore includes actual reporting Angry

BiologyIsReal · 12/02/2020 10:23

Yes thanks gibbons

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 12/02/2020 09:12

Labour leadership - Don't mind us, we don't need any help organizing the circular firing squad, and the show trials are already in the works.

It's downright embarrassing at this point.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 12/02/2020 09:02

This one biology?

GCAcademic · 12/02/2020 08:56

Starmer is the candidate most likely to win a general election. But he would bring in self-ID, no doubt. Perhaps it’s best that RLB, who is electoral poison of a toxicity that makes Corbyn look palatable, wins the leadership and the party burns itself out on its own wokeness. Only at that point might it just dawn on them that identity politics and telling people what they must think do not go down well with voters. As Elizabeth Warren discovered last night.

BiologyIsReal · 12/02/2020 08:46

Can't link, but has anyone posted a link to the BBC article this morning on #expelme.

BiologyIsReal · 12/02/2020 08:44

Trying to think what this reminds me of........Mcarthyism.

TheRealMcKenna · 12/02/2020 08:38

As if desperate to prove the point that it hasn’t understood the lessons of the election, and its priorities remain completely at odds with those of millions of working-class voters, Labour is about to embark on a civil war over trans rights. Paul Embery

I suspect Paul and the entire Blue Labour movement will be the first to be expelled. He’s been very vocal on the issue.
