And has effectively also said that Women's Place and the LGB Alliance (essentially groups for women, gays and lesbians to meet and discuss women's, gay and lesbian issues) are hate groups and them meeting are hate crimes

And this on women in science day too !!! What a joke.

Imnobody4 · 11/02/2020 17:08

Perhaps they should read Lord Ashcroft's report on their defeat. Here's a quote
Enjoy your extinction Labour, I no longer care.

Insane. This kind of egregious tosh is why they lost. Yet on it goes. I actually find it quite chilling how far the trans ideology tentacles extend. We know MRAs hate actual women but see how even an LGB organisation is now getting thrown under the bus. Never has a fetish got such traction before.

BiologyIsReal · 11/02/2020 16:50

Where the Labour party is concerned the adult have left the room.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 11/02/2020 16:50

If Prince Philip announced today that he identifies as Princess Philippa, would anyone really believe that he's been subject to misogyny and patriarchal oppression for all of his 98 years? Would anyone really believe that he and the Queen have been in a lesbian marriage for 72 years?

Before I knew this board and became more aware of these things, I had a female work acquaintance whose male husband “transitioned” (wore skirts and grew their hair long) into a woman. The acquaintance insisted she saw them as a woman and respected them as a woman but when I asked her if that meant she was now a lesbian in a lesbian relationship, she hit the roof and said of course she wasn’t a lesbian!! I wasn’t trying to make a point, it was just a genuine and curious question because of something I didn’t understand at the time. She sees her husband as a true woman and she is a woman too and in a relationship with them but doesn’t consider herself a lesbian Confused Which made me wonder.. did she actually believe her husband was now a woman? And if so, then why didn’t she consider herself a woman in a lesbian relationship, with another woman?

If their careers go down the pan, politicians should consider entering the next Olympics... mental gymnastics can’t be much harder than actual gymnastics, surely? They can identify themselves into a Gold medal winner.

RubyViolet · 11/02/2020 16:45

I am staying in the party until l have voted for the Leadership. I will not be voting for RLB or Rayner as a direct result of their views on this subject.
Once l have voted my direct debit will be cancelled. I’m done with them.

Michelleoftheresistance · 11/02/2020 16:42

She is actually mad.

Those pledges are explicitly, actively anti woman and anti LGB. Either you centre trans people and surrender your own interests or you fuck off out of Labour apparently. This party is so dead its stinking.

I particularly enjoyed the tweet from the twit asking seriously if women discussing their rights had at least one TW at the table, otherwise the discussions weren't valid. Firstly you paternalist dickhead, women are allowed to discuss their own rights without male supervision. And secondly, how many times so far have you chided trans groups and meetings for not having at least one GC woman at the table, and declared that no trans meeting is valid without that GC presence? None. Because you'll argue that it's FINE for trans meetings to be all trans people and all trans focused, but not for female people to have equality in this. Without ever being even slightly aware of your own whopping unequal standards based on sheer sexism.

Woke my arse.

GFJoe · 11/02/2020 16:32

And labour wonder why they are an absolute failure 🤔 Get with reality Angela. The majority of the population know you can't change sex. If labour doesn't understand this basic fact then it's no wonder they are entirely unelectable.

Arseaboutdarkly · 11/02/2020 16:31

I like Allin-Khan, she also seems very grounded and rational, but she's got a big struggle for attention against the other candidates

TheRealMcKenna · 11/02/2020 16:27

Do they really believe that that they lost, and created marginals out of solid labour seats, by not pushing identity politics hard enough?

I don’t think they really care about winning elections any more. If the voters don’t like the policies, they are bigots. End of story. Who needs bigots when you have virtue on your side?

To quote Stephen Fry “they think it’s more important to be correct than to be effective”.

bellinisurge · 11/02/2020 16:23

"1. Why are transwomen singled out and not transmen?"

Yes, I noticed that too. Hmm

bellinisurge · 11/02/2020 16:21

Cheerio, then.

Mockersisrightasusual · 11/02/2020 16:20

They plan to win the argument (again.)

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 11/02/2020 16:18

Well, this is sure to win back Bolsover....

Do they really believe that that they lost, and created marginals out of solid labour seats, by not pushing identity politics hard enough?

I'm not sure which seats they aim to win with these policies.

Valanice1989 · 11/02/2020 16:14

This is absolutely insane. Labour is just making itself more and more un-electable. The percentage of the population who believes that women have penises is tiny - I'm fairly sure that if you polled everyone in the UK on that question, 95-99% would answer no. Actually, I'm being generous there: I'd say it's more like 98-99%. Yet Labour is saying that everyone outside that minority should be expelled from the party!

If Prince Philip announced today that he identifies as Princess Philippa, would anyone really believe that he's been subject to misogyny and patriarchal oppression for all of his 98 years? Would anyone really believe that he and the Queen have been in a lesbian marriage for 72 years? No one would. No one really believes any of this stuff, not deep down.

RuffleCrow · 11/02/2020 16:09

Erm, just no.

Mockersisrightasusual · 11/02/2020 16:08

Well there's Dawn Butler....?

More reasonably, Rosina Alin Khan is a GP, not that it helped Sarah Wollastone with this issue.

MsMcWibble · 11/02/2020 16:04

Disgusting. They deserve to never get a vote from a woman ever again.
If they're making lists they had better be careful.
And I hope they get sued.
Ex member here.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 11/02/2020 15:59

For those of us who'll be voting in the leadership election, who are you picking for deputy?
Because Rayner just lost my vote so now I'm not sure who to go for.

FreezerBird · 11/02/2020 15:52

My local labour candidate is the last election doesn't believe TWAW. I expect to see her tarred and feathered in the town square forthwith.

calllaaalllaaammma · 11/02/2020 15:51

They pretend to be a political party but they are just a pressure group now pushing it’s own agenda. They’re not interested in representing the electorate.

Clymene · 11/02/2020 15:38

Oh Angela

MenopauseIsMySuperPower · 11/02/2020 15:36

I find the use of the word 'Accept' interesting in these pledges, it's almost like they know no one believes it really but you must go along with the official line regardless

MrsWednesdayteatime · 11/02/2020 15:34

I don't believe TWAW & I'm still a member of the Labour Party & I'm not leaving #nodebate

I wonder how many of the men signing and supporting the pledge believe "TWAW but not for relationship purposes", happy to give away womens boundaries but want to keep their own.

TheRealMcKenna · 11/02/2020 15:31

Well, this is sure to win back Bolsover....
