"I realised I wanted a living wife, not a dead husband."

Interviewer repeats, and says that's profound.
Fuck off you wanker.

@tinselangel

Hope its OK to copy you into this?

Granny shouting 'turn off that filth' will not cost anyone their job. But anyone challenging the new religion of gender ideology in public is very much risking their job and their professional reputation by doing so.

ludog · 11/02/2020 11:32

TWAW = "Transwonen are women"

NothingWrong · 11/02/2020 11:29

Lol, if you think Granny in Galway, Roscommon, Donegal or Dublin wouldn't have been wanting to 'turn that filth off', then you're wrong. Our younger generation are a very tolerant and accepting people and always have been. A lot of shame and guilt and terror and torture and abuse was piled on us though for being even slightly different in the past. So we are not going to let that happen to our younger generations. And they can make up their own minds.

NothingWrong · 11/02/2020 11:25

What does TWAW stand for?

ludog · 11/02/2020 11:10

Ireland was silenced for so long on so many things, that Gay Byrne was the only one wishing to risk his job by discussing them. Ireland is now so liberated that we wouldn't care a jot about a trans couple being on the Late Late.
To offer an alternative opinion to a fawning 'TWAW' is to risk one's job and professional reputation in 2020 Ireland. Nothing against that couple on the LLS but there is absolutely no risk with having them on the show, it's a guaranteed woke brownie point generator.

TreestumpsAndTrampolines

Yes of course there are a people, who if they do know about it don't agree.
However the media are not questioning it and so a lot of people don't know and just want to be nice...

Some educate together secondary schools are introducing "universal toilets" and an educate together in Limerick wants to "push acceptance on their pupils".

What do you think of the concerns I've talked about in my post?

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 11/02/2020 09:06

No coyoacan not at all exclusive to Ireland but I think its fair to ask why people are so unquestioning, like Ireland was with the church in the past..

I don't think people are unquestioning. The people I speak most to are other mothers at the school gate (I work remotely, so my colleagues are neither irish, nor in Ireland) - and the mothers are both aware, and completely intolerant of damaging kids. Completely open to people wearing what they like, doing what they want to themselves as adults, no problems with people being gay or whatever religion, but draw the line at children, and I have no doubt would be right in the school if they started teaching any of the 'choose your gender' nonsense rather than just letting kids be kids.

Perhaps I'm not in a representative school - it's just a little Church of Ireland National School South of Dublin, but the people here seem very sensible and reasonable, and concerned and thinking about this sort of thing.

ludog · 11/02/2020 08:01

@NothingWrong what would be truly groundbreaking Gay Byrne style, would be allowing a dissenting voice be heard. GB was ground breaking because, for example, he showed condoms in the LLS at a time when even married couples needed a prescription for them. He spoke out against the prevailing orthodoxy and allowed other voices be heard. There's currently only one type of voice allowed on Irish media and that's the voices telling us what We are allowed to think not the ones challenging us to think critically.

Amalfimamma · 11/02/2020 06:20

A few points.

Gay Byrne may have been ahead of his time and fearless but turdbity is no Byrne.

"I'd rather have a wife whose alive than a dead husband" prove emotional abuse, coercion and the same old story that's been told time and time again by the trans widows.

"Ireland is rebellious" that indeed we are. So that is why it's even more worrying that the current leaders of the Irish feminism movement are mostly male (ora MRA), professional paid activists? Why is Noone rebelling against Tulsa and their "allow abusers to i terview their victims" policy? Why is no one rebelling against hormones being given to children? Tulsa being able to remove children from the home if parents are gc? Men in female prisons? The list goes on.

Leo, the unelected prime Minister, done more harm than good to the women of Ireland with his barely hidden misogny

Kantastic · 11/02/2020 05:51

Kantastic why comment on an interview you haven't even seen?

I didn't. Hmm

Commenting on this thread !=commenting on the interview.

late-transitioning transwoman and a longsuffering actual woman.

Yea that's what happened. Same as usual.

OP posts:
OncewasLangandClegtwo · 10/02/2020 23:43

I said trans couple by mistake.
What I'm concerned about is the language used, the manipulative, emotive language used, the same language used by prominent TRAs in the UK.
I'm concerned that doctors are having their concerns omitted from the minutes of meetings.
UK concerned that male abusers are being housed in a womans prison.
I'm wondering how this all happened.
And no I'm not a fan of Gay Byrne, especially not impressed by his treatment of Annie Murphy.

OP posts:
Kantastic · 10/02/2020 23:29

Are they both men identifying as women, hence the trans couple?

Oh possibly! I didn't watch it as I couldn't imagine finding it interesting, but the quotes from here made it sound like it's the same old same old story of a late-transitioning transwoman and a longsuffering actual woman.

Kantastic · 10/02/2020 23:27

No. It's called having minds of our own.

Oh good god, do you not see any problem with that sentence? Ireland is fucking doomed man, seems like the woke hivemind has collonised us without even a token attempt at rebellion.

NothingWrong · 10/02/2020 23:06

You seem to have a particular issue with teens being trans on here. And yet, you also seem to have an issue with middle aged trans?
When is it acceptable to be trans?

NothingWrong · 10/02/2020 23:04

TBH I couldn't tell which of them was trans. I couldn't even figure out why they were being interviewed as they just looked like two women to me.

elgreco · 10/02/2020 22:59

Are they both men identifying as women, hence the trans couple?

NothingWrong · 10/02/2020 22:58

No. It's called having minds of our own.

Kantastic · 10/02/2020 22:55

ok fair enough

and actually there is a sort of childish performative reverence of transpeople among the woke or aspiring woke, which I have seen even among young people in Dublin, and that attitude is possibly the reason your comment felt so weirdly cringey and inauthentic to me. God I hope we've got enough brains to think critically about all the bullshit instead of just being brainlessly hypnotised by our fond memories of the gay marriage referendum.

NothingWrong · 10/02/2020 22:53

The way I interpreted it was, that if she didn't admit who she was, she was going to die.

I've felt similar about a very different circumstance. I chose to do what would keep me alive. I realised that I had as much right to life as anyone else and if that meant making pretty radical unconventional decisions then I had to make them. It took me years battling to finally make the decision, but I'm still alive and more useful than being a dead relative.

NothingWrong · 10/02/2020 22:49

It's manipulative as can be to threaten suicide to force someone else to comply.

Where in the interview did she say that she wanted someone to comply?

NothingWrong · 10/02/2020 22:48

Ba bhfuil tu caint as Gaeilge?

Qcng · 10/02/2020 22:47

It's manipulative as can be to threaten suicide to force someone else to comply.

It's also against Samaritans guidelines to push the idea that one certain group is more prone to suicide, especially when it's false, as is the case with trans stats.

Completely irresponsible reporting. That poor woman.
