Who wants to join me in quarantine? (Lighthearted)

Such is the sheer amount of fuckwittery around at the moment, I find myself envious of people being quarantined.

Crisp sheets, peace and quiet, possible internet detox. What's not to like? (Assuming you don't get ill of course).

Anyone joining me?

(Or am I getting quarantine mixed up with a spa break?)

I have been submerged in 1930s fiction this week. I would like to have my old Nanny to tut over me and not let me overexert myself. She will put me to bed, with a hot water bottle, at the drop of a hat. The butler will tell annoying visitors that Madam is not at home.

The evacuees will amaze the village people by preferring margarine to butter.

FamilyOfAliens · 08/02/2020 10:34

It has to be crude, of course.

TinselAngel · 08/02/2020 09:38

The margarine users can huddle outside under a crude shelter.

It would be my worst nightmare to be quarantined with margarine.

Maybe we could have a separate margarine area, like a smoking area?

I was in hospital in Singapore with a virus for a week once (not recently, it wasn’t coronavirus! Grin), and, apart from feeling the poorliest I’ve ever felt, it really was rather nice. It was basically like a luxe hotel room with a hospital bed in it, en suite wet room (although I had to shower sitting down in a chair because virusSad). People to help me do every little thing literally at the push of a button, clean sheets every day, bring me meals and snacks (Asian or international menus), telly, library trolley and excellent WiFi. Thank goodness for travel insurance.

The best ‘quarantine spa’ I’ve ever done though is a yoga retreat in Ibiza. Rustic finca accommodation with sea views, beautiful grounds with various comfy spots to sit/sleep/read/meditate, infinity pool for a dip when required, top notch veggie food served 3 times a day with snacks on demand, and 2 yoga classes a day. I declined to be sociable and spent almost the entire time in solitude, didn’t leave the site for the entire week, it was bliss (especially the ‘silent’ day when everyone else shut up too!). If I win the lottery I’m buying myself somewhere like that. And staffing it obvs.

I’ll come if I can have margarine

You'll have to bring your own.

FemiLANGul · 08/02/2020 08:06

Will there be those giant size beanbag cushion things. If so, I'm in!

I've got hot chocolate and squirt cream

Orangecatfish · 08/02/2020 06:36

If I can sneak in some margarine, I’ll bring my books. I’ve got history, arts and crafts, romance, Pratchett to name a few.

ShiveringCoyote · 08/02/2020 06:02

Uninterrupted sleep. Bliss.
I will bring some poitin (pronounced putch-eeen). Its Irish moonshine.

nachthexe · 08/02/2020 03:20

Ha. I read that as a migraine. Not margarine. I was all no no no you don’t need to be really sick! (But I am, clearly. So budge up.)
We can quarantine the marge to orange’s tuck box right?

Orangecatfish · 08/02/2020 03:03

ItsLateHumpty · 07/02/2020 23:58

Will mountain breezes and sheets frequently changed by somebody else, do?

I wouldn't sneeze at that Tinsel Grin

TinselAngel · 07/02/2020 23:58

We wil probably have a book black market though.

AlunWynsKnee · 07/02/2020 23:53

They'll have to provide crisp new books for infection control? And nice new pyjamas? I'm in.
If there are pointy tailed kittens then I've got a temperature and must be kept in for ages.

TinselAngel · 07/02/2020 23:37

Also, if we're wishing, then I'm also wishing for crumb repellent sheets, and sea breezes.

d like it to be in one of those old TB hospitals with balconies, fresh air and extensive grounds full of rhododendrons
My whole, very detailed quarantine / sanatorium / fantasy basically comes from the Chalet School and The San.

I shall may also bag a Doctor husband by being bravely stoical in my gaily patterned bed jacket.

ItsLateHumpty · 07/02/2020 23:22

As long as the crisp sheets, tea and hot buttered toast or crumpets are all provided by someone else, like fairy wishes, so no one has to do chores.

GrinitchSpinach · 07/02/2020 22:56

Please may I check in until after the American election? I'm sure DH can manage to feed the children for a few months.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 07/02/2020 22:45

Ooh, is it a home for Consumptive Ladies? May I bring my sourdough starter, a slightly peculiar cat and a bag of oranges? I can do hot toddies to ward off - well, most things.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/02/2020 22:27

If there is no washing up, I'm in.

Packs yarn and hook.

MrsSnippyPants · 07/02/2020 22:02

Yarn! Good call Al1Lang

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 07/02/2020 21:20

Can I be quarantined too? I have wine, chocolate an audio book subscription and a large new ball of ombré wool.

I’ll bring hand gel to ward off any germs.

MrsSnippyPants · 07/02/2020 20:59

I was in quarantine for 48 hours last week actually, it was quite pleasant, I could quite fancy a full week of it.

Those puppies are now almost 7 years old and are snoring next to me!

midgebabe · 07/02/2020 20:59

Wise words teabags, but I am struggling to accept my limitations

FannyCann · 07/02/2020 20:54

Those women look pretty cheerful. I bet it was the best holiday of their lives.
