Who wants to join me in quarantine? (Lighthearted)

Such is the sheer amount of fuckwittery around at the moment, I find myself envious of people being quarantined.

Crisp sheets, peace and quiet, possible internet detox. What's not to like? (Assuming you don't get ill of course).

Anyone joining me?

(Or am I getting quarantine mixed up with a spa break?)

Yes to a lovely veranda, assume there is bird table too?

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/02/2020 09:29

Tinsel when I had my first baby a million years ago we stayed in hospital a week and had an enforced nap after lunch Smile

TinselAngel · 10/02/2020 08:05

All the rooms had French doors that opened on to a veranda where the women rested after lunch and the gardens were lovely.

Loving the idea of compulsory rest after lunch.

Australia has set up a quarantine facility in an old mining camp near Darwin. It has its own cinema, swimming pool and library. When I heard about it on the news I found myself wishing I could be quarantined for a couple of weeks. Grin I wonder what the catering is like?

GothMummy · 09/02/2020 23:20

I remember visiting my mother in a Convalescent Home in 1979 which I think you would have all liked. All the rooms had French doors that opened on to a veranda where the women rested after lunch and the gardens were lovely.

I’ll keep an eye on your cat if you want Littl. Sounds like him and me would get on well. Smile

Can I admit myself to the TB clinic Spa? I just need my bath chair wheeling out onto the terrace about mid-morning. After someone has tucked blankets around me, obv.

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 09/02/2020 23:13

Oh OK then! You've twisted my arm re the horse - in a fragile feeble fashion naturally - I shall bring my knitting instead.

TinselAngel · 09/02/2020 23:10

can I bring my horse?

Horses are terribly strenuous. Give yourself some quarantine time off from horse husbandry. It's for your own good.

Dogs are always welcome.

Malory towers swimming pools are a bit bracing for my delicate constitution but I guess if you all want to go in there, I can wrap myself in a blanket and look on indulgently, whilst drinking a medicinal cocktail.

So if dogs are coming, can I bring my horse? He can stick his head through the window and nicker gently? There will of course be a groom to sort him out in my absence under the covers, as I smile bravely and throw Polo's at him.

( Can you tell I've had a shit day at the stables battling the elements...)

AnyOldSpartabix · 09/02/2020 22:34

Sigh.... I wish I’d opened this very comforting thread earlier in the weekend. It does all sound very lovely Tinsel.

I can’t knit, but can the dog come? He’s a bit wild (being young) but there are no roads nearby, I presume, so he could run and run outside (he looks lovely when running - he has a plumy tail, like Timmy [wrong Enid Blyton, but there you go]). Then he could come in, circle on the bed, and lie down tucked in beside my knees and be properly snuggly. I promise any stinky bones he has will be kept firmly outside.

Will there be an outdoor pool, cut into the rocks? I know it's in the mountains, but perhaps some seawater can be added now and then?

Fallingirl · 09/02/2020 22:22

Hmmm, the quarantine retreat does sound tempting, but I did also really look forward to the gulags. They promised us a t*rfs-only retreat, which is most soothing for frayed tempers...

littlbrowndog · 09/02/2020 22:20

Can I just send my cat. I will stay home

I get he is stressed. But it means my tummy is being treaded out to agony

He would only stay for a bit. He likes watching telly

TinselAngel · 09/02/2020 22:09

Crafting is allowed as long as it's not too strenuous.

Am I allowed to bring my knitting ?

I really want buttered crumpets now but I've only got unsalted.

Put a bit of salt on?

I really want buttered crumpets now but I've only got unsalted. Sigh the nearest shop is too far to trek in this weather. Bring on the quarantine I say. Its in the Alps right? Near to where Heidi was?

CameFromAway · 09/02/2020 14:44

Can there be kittens? I think what ails me might be dispelled by spending time with kittens.

Nice healthy cocktails like cosmopolitans at 5, I think - all that cranberry and lime will doubtless aid recovery. Vitamin C and all that.

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/02/2020 14:29

Oh I am a girl still in my head. That's the problem. My 12 year old self is still in there, judging all the grownups.

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/02/2020 14:25

WeBuilt I would also like a screaming room, please. Sometimes I just need to.

As opposed to a screening room, where there will be the odd nice film being shown.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 09/02/2020 14:24

(I just realised the foolishness of saying girlish high jinks on the FWR board Grin Living up to my name!)

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/02/2020 14:21

I think I'd like a steamer chair under a shady tree, just to sit on to admire the views muddled. I would have a tray of tea served out there, just to keep my strength up. If (and ONLY if) I welcomed a chat I would have extra cups laid out as a signal.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 09/02/2020 14:21

I think you can only be allowed into the San if you are frail (or possibly delicate) unless you have had a foolish accident through girlish high jinks and need to recover? This may involve lying flat for a number of weeks I'm afraid, muddled before you are allowed out into the bracing mountain air.

Lying flat for a couple of weeks actually sounds very attractive to me right now. Maybe we could have Quarantine Weeks as well as days, for the most serious I WantTo Tell Everyone To Fuck Off frail cases?
