I have searched but haven't seen a thread about this yet, sorry if it is a duplicate.

I put this on tonight expecting it to follow her on tour but have been pleasantly surprised. It touches on so many issues that I worry will affect my DD.

I thought her account of being groped was incredibly sad and mirrors what most of my friends who have taken a stand against this behaviour have experienced.

The part about her voicing her concerns about Trump and how his political stance would/is affecting laws that protect women along with the background about the Dixie chicks was shocking.

Has anyone else seen this?

Watched this the other night and it’s very interesting. The way she’s portrayed in the media is outrageous at times and while most celebs just seem to mosey along with it all and adapt as their public demands, she seems to have taken the road less travelled. I doubt I’d agree with her on everything (bet she’s into self ID 😄) but I fully respect that she’s trying her best to do her own thing and to prop up other women as she goes. She doesn’t play down her financial/social privilege but does seem conscious of the fact that if she has it, she should do something good with it.

She’s portrayed as ‘difficult’ when actually she just seems to give honest responses when others don’t, or won’t. I’m not really into her music but I wish her well. I just hope she’s strong enough to cope with the relentless attempts to take her down.

On much less important note, I also liked the fact that she hangs out in any old scruffy clobber with cameras on her and doesn’t care.

I was really surprised by this documentary and had a different picture of her before watching. I think she came across really well.

When I was reminded of Kanye snatching the microphone off her it made me so 😡

Hmm, wasn't gonna bother with this but may do now

I am going to watch this
I do like her as well as her music

Once she was asked “what advice would you give to someone looking to make a career in music.?” And she said “get a good lawyer”.

I think a lot of the work she’s done to protect her image and her copyright is terrific and yet it’s been criticised.

Which leads to a rousing round of...

Will try to watch documentary over weekend. And then maybe ask goddaughter to watch it.

You can watch more about what happened to the Dixie Chicks when they denounced the Iraq war in their doco "Dixie Chicks: Shut up and sing"

We're watching it now.
My DD is a big fan.

I was thinking about starting a thread on this! I never thought much about Taylor Swift until a year or two back, other than knowing her as just another pop star.
Then the DJ case happened and I was really impressed with how she handled it.
I believe she also gave Kesha quite a lot of support, including financial help, with her case against the producer who abused her.
The documentary is definitely worth a watch.
Agree that the Dixie Chicks segment was shocking. The pure hatred in those men's faces and the outright misogyny and violent language. It was enormously telling, and certainly went a long way to explaining why Swift was always so careful with her image.
Same with the bit when Kanye West interrupted her at the Grammys. It was incredibly rude, especially considering she was so young and had no choice but to smile with so many people watching.
I have a huge amount of admiration for her, and think she's a fantastic role model for young girls. I'm probably going to watch the documentary again.
