Speculation about the judgement is pointless. But irrespective of the decision, the previously somnabulant media is watching The threat to freedom of speech is on explicit display and every day, more examples of this threat are being reported. For a radical agenda which has deliberately conducted itself without public scrutiny? The more media exposure, the better

FannyCann · 06/02/2020 10:49

I fear he is no friend of women. But he will, presumably, be aware of the outcry over the Natalie Connolly case and his remarks.
So he will be being extra careful to produce a judgement with no loopholes.

My best hope is that he won't like the police taking it upon themselves to interpret the law. That's a job for highly educated judges.
Remember the police defence guy said something disobliging about textbooks and the judge responded "I have written a textbook" (or two).
He will be torn between slapping down the police for overstepping the mark and slapping down women. Even though it's a case brought by a man.

Thinkingabout1t · 06/02/2020 09:23

But Maya’s judge also made encouraging remarks. I think that was to try to seem open-minded, whereas his final judgement was appalling.

RoyalCorgi · 06/02/2020 09:02

You are right, FannyCann. However, he made much more encouraging remarks during Harry's trial, so I am still hopeful.

FannyCann · 06/02/2020 08:14

Am I right in thinking the judge is the same judge who made some appalling sentencing remarks in the Natalie Connolly case?

BovaryX · 06/02/2020 06:11

Thank you MrsSnippy for the heads up. I think this judgement will be revelatory about the state of freedom of speech in the UK in the 21st century. Like many of us, I will be watching with a mixture of hope and dread.

SingingLily · 06/02/2020 04:41

PMK...and hoping for the best.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/02/2020 03:48

Datun is right, of course.

Datun · 06/02/2020 00:50

Thing is, losing almost creates more publicity, more controversy.

This issue is very topical and Harry's stance is the popular one.

None of this is going away.

OwlsFlyByNight · 06/02/2020 00:09

I feel sick as well after what happened to Maya. I was sure she’d win.

bluejayblue · 05/02/2020 22:12

I was wondering the same thing Fanny.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/02/2020 21:14

Best prepare for the worst. Strapping myself into the handcart now.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 05/02/2020 21:09

He's not doing anything daft that hints at the outcome is he? I know he's surrounded by lawyers who will be telling him it's embargoed but obviously there will be many eyes on him, many of them hostile.

FannyCann · 05/02/2020 21:08

I've been wondering if the delay is connected to Kate Scottow's case tomorrow.
So as not to influence it in any way? 🤷‍♀️

bluejayblue · 05/02/2020 21:01

I'm not on facebook! what has he said?

MrsSnippyPants · 05/02/2020 20:39

I don’t know whether to book a train ticket or stay home, avoid all media and ask a friend to pop round and break it to me gently over tea and cake!

O dear god. I can't face the idea of it going against him.

Mossyrock · 05/02/2020 20:28

Thanks.

Redshoeblueshoe · 05/02/2020 20:25

I'm not optimistic purely because of the delay Gin Gin Gin

HeronLanyon · 05/02/2020 20:23

Got it.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/02/2020 20:21

Gin ready.

MrsSnippyPants · 05/02/2020 20:05

As a lawyer I’m often in the RCJ. What’s going on that day ? (fearful it’s something I should/do know all about).
