Sorry that this is from twitter but.....I’m off to find a wall to bang my head against

It's the way the left has gone, especially in the US, that means they are compelled to say they believe anyone can be a woman or face being accused of being part of some kind of hateful right wing Christian group. Their words are so considered and stilted. They are terrified of putting a foot wrong.

Kit19 · 29/01/2020 14:30

“Woke little pipsqueaks” GrinGrin

But seriously how did we get to a place where middle aged women especially are getting lectured by boys young enough to be their son and that is seen as ok

They are trying to believe what they say but you know that deep down when they are asked about innate differences between men and women they know the answer.

Miriel · 29/01/2020 13:31

There's a slightly longer version of the video here:

The cognitive dissonance really is astonishing. If you honestly believed that being a woman was a choice, a mindset or an identity, then surely all the disadvantages women face could be overcome by them deciding that they aren't actually women. No need for a march at all!

At least one woman in the longer video acknowledges that human reproduction wouldn't be possible without women. I'm hoping that plenty of more sensible responses were edited out, too.

Goosefoot · 29/01/2020 13:01

I do wonder if they left out people who gave more sensible responses. It's always hard to tell with these kinds of clips.

The body language of some of the women was interesting. The younger women seemed much more comfortable with the orthodoxy the older ones were struggling IMO.

I'm actually worried the TRAs will go after Oxford Dictionary. Then we are screwed.

Something like that has already happened (facilitated by the BBC):

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000c4v8

The OED did as they were bid even though they said that the evidence to change the definition of "drag" was not really sufficient to justify such a change.

NotTerfNorCis · 29/01/2020 12:37

The 2017 Women's March was the final straw in making me gender critical.

langclegflavoredbananamush · 29/01/2020 12:32

I'd hope that at least women who would actually join the march would have the guts to speak up. I suspect this might also have something to do with the atrocious political situation in the USA. The Woke Democrats have worked hard to associate the slightest failure to affirm affirm affirm with rampant Trumpianism.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 29/01/2020 12:32

That was pretty sad, which made me wonder how much was edited out.

I'd like to think a whole load of sensible responses were edited out.

How to define a woman
There's a way, said the wise old man

BiologyIsReal · 29/01/2020 12:27

Do they believe that or are they just "'frit"?

It may seem harsh but I am beginning to get tired of the attitude that results in normal everyday women (you know, adult human females) bowing and scraping to tiresome little woke pipsqueaks and their airy fairy notions of self ID.

This is how dictatorships by minorities happen.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Sooner or later everyday women are going to have to stand up.

We could really do with a good dose of second wave feminism here.

I am so disappointed in my so-called "sisters". I am beginning to feel all our struggles of the 60s and 70s that I gave my heart and soul to and which won us so much, is being thrown away and if we let it happen we will deserve the consequences.

Sorry for the old lady rant, but for God's sake women get a bloody grip.

Flame me if you like.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 29/01/2020 12:19

How do you define a woman? - Adult human female

Can anyone be one? No by definition it only covers adult human females.

I agree they know - they feel they can’t say it.

This is why this and other GC spaces are important. We need to remind people, family and friends to trust what they already know.

theflushedzebra · 29/01/2020 12:18

"so, they went on a march for a word they can't describe"

In a nutshell.

stillathing · 29/01/2020 12:08

Their anxiety and fear was palpable. It really highlights the intimidatory nature of an ideology that forces women to lie about a straightforward scientific fact. And this is why the toxic lobby groups are all over our schools - to ensure that our children are groomed early into denying reality.
Who benefits from this? It's not women.

This. X 1000. With bells.

And yeah the woman is only a bunch of positive things angers me so much! Women and girls can feel weak and bad and dirty and powerless etc. Especially those who have experienced abuse.

TheShoesa · 29/01/2020 12:00

I recognise the the guy with the microphone from

Looks like it's gone from 'be kind' to 'I'm afraid to speak the truth' in 3 years.

Mossyrock · 29/01/2020 11:57

Those women did not come across as spontaneous and relaxed.

"A woman is love and strength and power" Really?? Is that what came to mind first? Are the nasty, weak and powerless therefore men?

Thelnebriati · 29/01/2020 11:38

I think we need to remind people ''put your own oxygen mask on first before you try to help others'', and revive assertiveness training classes.

andyoldlabour · 29/01/2020 11:38

One of the twitter feed replies:

"so, they went on a march for a word they can't describe"

CoffeeCoinneseur · 29/01/2020 11:33

I don’t understand why they were even there, taking part, if they are unable or unwilling to define what a woman is Confused

andyoldlabour · 29/01/2020 11:32

That was pretty sad, which made me wonder how much was edited out. I cannot believe that not one woman was prepared to speak some sense.
Pretty sure that was a contrived video.

Uncompromisingwoman · 29/01/2020 11:28

TheShoesa · 29/01/2020 11:08

They know, but are afraid to say.

What a sorry state of affairs.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 29/01/2020 11:04

If these women believe that woman is only an identity, what issues are they matching for?

If these women are marching about womens rights, yet feel unable to actually define what a women is, aren't they just sending a message that they can be intimidated into agreeing with anything?

I think that they are just marching for marchings sake and not wanting to achieve anything.

theflushedzebra · 29/01/2020 11:03

I don't know whether to laugh or cry tbh .

Women's March was the one where Munroe Bergdorf dictated from on high that women weren't to centre the march on female biology. And now nobody feels able to say what a woman is on the Women's March. They bloody well know exactly what the answer to this question is - they just can't say it.

This is exactly what we said would happen. Women unable to define themselves as a group distinct from males.

Thelnebriati · 29/01/2020 11:03

Look at their body language as well, they all look away, they shake their heads when they talk.
