JK - she’s done it now
OP posts:

Am intrigued as to how she used the LGBT community for sales. And equally, how she has “turned on them” by tweeting a solitary tweet opining that she doesn’t feel sacking women for their views is a good thing.

That said, I don’t actually understand what’s going on with this tweet. Can anyone enlighten me, as I feel a bit thick now?

Also, I'm just not sure what knowing that Hagrid was a pansexual demiboy would have really added to the reading experience for an 8 year old.

SisyphusLangClegRocks · 26/01/2020 13:47

In here books she preaches love and excepting everyone, used the lgbtq community for sales... Dumbledore being gay. The she turned on the community

Understanding biology means she's turned on the 'community'? Really? I suspect that a majority of the community you talk about, also agree with her.

Get off Twitter and talk to people in real life. You might be surprised.

I'm off to check The Very Hungry Caterpillar now.

You missspelled horny.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 26/01/2020 13:42

I live in hope that JK releases another Harry Potter universe book so I can see the mental gymnastics that TRAs go through to justify reading/buying it.

I’m going to start a business creating fake book jackets that fit her novels perfectly so that they can read work by Queen TERF in public without their wokeness being questioned.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 26/01/2020 13:40

I'm not even sure how one would "except" someone.

Love her!

Just in case anyone isn't aware of the awful 'anti 'LGBT' statement being referred to here:

Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?

How she wasn't arrested for disagreeing with a woman's rights campaigner being sacked is beyond me. Thank goodness for a few brave people like @MorganKitten who are defending liberalism by burning her books.

KettlePolly · 26/01/2020 13:34

donquixotedelamancha Grin you've summed it up there!

Thank you JK. Flowers

donquixotedelamancha · 26/01/2020 13:31

There's a fake tweet doing the rounds where JK 'wrote' a homophobic comment. She didn't I would imagine, despite neglecting to include a single LGBT character in HP.

Terrible isn't it? What could be more normal than for a children's book to identify the sexual preferrences of every character? My daughter was very surprised that the tiger who came for tea took until page 9 before mentioning he likes cock.

As someone who grew up with her books I can enjoy them but grown up and now her true views are showing... nope.

Are you pissed?

How has she 'turned on the community'? By stating that biological sex is real?

😂

theflushedzebra · 26/01/2020 13:23

And if you can't see the totalitarianism underpinning some aspects of the trans rights movement - such as, women losing their jobs over their beliefs that biological sex exists, and people being too afraid to speak out lest they get a visit from the police - then you are woke, but not awake, imo.

Lojoh · 26/01/2020 13:22

She's brill!

thebluearsefly · 26/01/2020 13:19

@BitOfFun that’s a parody account - difficult to tell in the current climate though

theflushedzebra · 26/01/2020 13:17

The she turned on the community.

No she hasn't.

  1. she doesn't think women should sacked for tweeting about women's rights, or for their political beliefs.

  2. she is anti-totalitarianism - which is a theme that runs right through the Harry Potter books.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/01/2020 13:16

^ despite neglecting to include a single LGBT character in HP.^^

I don't think she generally specified the ethnicity of her characters^

What's ethnicity got to do with 'LGBT'?Confused the non white ethnicity of a few characters could be deduced from their names. And kids at the time she was writing didn't, IME, label people either way. I'd absolutely no idea DDs Polish classmate or German exchange partner were black until they were on my doorstep. Sexuality - MYOB.

AnotherLass · 26/01/2020 13:10

The comments underneath her tweet announcing the new book are mindbogglingly insane

I know that it has been commented on once or twice on these boards before, but trans activism is absolutely freaking NUTS. All of this, in response to a tweet saying that Maya shouldn't be sacked?

I still just can't believe that something this mad can really be happening

MorganKitten · 26/01/2020 13:10

Jaxhog · 26/01/2020 12:58

despite neglecting to include a single LGBT character in HP.

I don't think she generally specified the ethnicity of her characters. Unless you are inferring 'whiteness' from their names? The films don't count. They are just what Hollywood wanted them to be. Blame them.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2020 12:47

She could be referring to transexualism - quite rightly JK has stated that while people can live as whatever gender they prefer, and that's not a problem, sex is a given and cannot be changed.

She's had some crap thrown at her for making that simple, honest statement.
