Excellent.

I hope Maya has lots of support around her. It can't be easy.

SugarPlumFairyCakes · 25/01/2020 21:12

Humbled by your tenacity Maya. Much admiration and good luck.

stealthLangnutkin · 25/01/2020 21:10

So glad she is going on to appeal. The initial tribunal decision didn't make sense. Hey ho, hey ho.. wanders off carrying spade...

PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg · 25/01/2020 21:09

Good luck, Maya, & THANK YOU x

Voice0fReason · 25/01/2020 21:02

Splendid news
Go Maya!

Lordfrontpaw · 25/01/2020 21:01

Hoping for a judge with some bloody common sense.

RicketyLangClegety · 25/01/2020 20:52

Good luck Maya. It seemed like the judge couldn't get his head around the distinction between sex and gender. The whole discussion of intersex people was a bizarre & confusing tangent that has no relevance to transgenderism.

Snoopypants · 25/01/2020 20:30

Good luck Maya and thank you

theflushedzebra · 25/01/2020 20:23

I keep thinking "surely the truth will prevail?" and that this nonsense will one day be over - of us having to be untruthful or face sacking/police interviews/hate incidents against our names/banning from social media etc etc - but it still seems a long way off.

We're all having to walk on eggshells on Mumsnet of all places, CentreParcs have fallen and allowed a male-bodied TW into the open-plan women's changing area, the CPS are doing something very scary in our schools - surely freedom of speech and thought and belief HAS to prevail - doesn't it??

langclegflavoredbananamush · 25/01/2020 20:14

YES! (shovel at ready)! I was afraid it would take longer. Hopefully the response will be timely. I hope the judge who decides whether to let it go forward (how could they not, you'd think) can tell men apart from women.

NotTerfNorCis · 25/01/2020 20:12

Good. People shouldn't be forced to pretend they believe in genderism.

Barbarella1 · 25/01/2020 20:11

Go Maya.

Cwenthryth · 25/01/2020 20:09

Cool. Got my trowel, dug a bit.

whitehandledkitchenlang · 25/01/2020 20:08

Excellent news. Thank you Maya. You're an Amazon.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 25/01/2020 20:08

Maya tweets;
''I was gutted with Judge James Tayler's ruling that that my belief, based on science, that sex is an immutable reality is not protected, not "worthy of respect in a democratic society".
The ability to discuss ideas & evidence is fundamentally important in a democratic society.''

''Despite what you may have heard, I did not bully or harass anyone, or deny that anyone has human rights. I tweeted, wrote & talked about how laws, policies & social norms which conflate the idea of gender identity with sex have a negative impact on women’s rights, and on children.''

Vegans could legally fight 'unethical' banknotes following landmark ruling
The Bank of England could face a legal challenge from vegans over its use of animal fats in banknotes, lawyers warned after a landmark ruling on Friday.

An employment judge found that holding a sincere belief in “ethical veganism” should be given the same legal protection under the Equality Act as that given to Christians, Jews and Muslims.
