@JustineMumsnet

We the undersigned would like to ask you to consider reinstating LangCleg after a temporary suspension, as you have done with others.

Or perhaps, consider reinstating her for a three-month trial period and then reviewing.

We know you will have realised, from the two other LangCleg threads, how much her wisdom and constant voice in support of robust safeguarding is welcomed by so many on this board. It is truly a great loss to us, and to the depth of discussion about such important matters.

We hope Justine that you might do two things:

  • Review what actually happened with LangCleg and decide whether it really was so dire that she deserves permanent expulsion, or whether perhaps there was an element of misunderstanding on your moderators' part (which Michaeel's post indicates may have happened) and, that perhaps she was being held to an inappropriately high standard compared to others
  • Review the process, so that strong voices on here are able to continue to be heard for the benefit of all Mumsnet users

Or perhaps do neither of those things, and just reinstate her because you recognise how important your other Mumsnet users find her.... I guess the equivalent of a Royal Pardon,

Please hear our voice.

And everyone on here, please do sign if you want LangCleg back - just that, a signature with any discussion continuing on the LangCleg 2 thread. A signature to say you want her back and hope that @JustineMumsnet will consider this.

Thank you - both my fellow mums netters and Justine

Signed.

Not seen the 'rudeness' but did it really deserve a permanent ban?

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 29/01/2020 09:28

And (sorry)

I think the OP is perfectly reasonable...not defending anything lang may or may not have done, just requesting a rethink if appropriate

Oh im glad this gets bumped cos i dont think ive signed

I bet most of the people taking the "Mumsnet staff should have just taken it" attitude would be up to human resources in a flash if they were treated with rudeness and contempt at work.*

Hah. I had a public facing job for a long long time. I got shouted at, sworn at, intimated and threatened and you know what? I let it all roll off me like water on a ducks back. Most people just deal with it and don't take it personally.

I was recently advised by Lou of the admin team that editing quotes to change their meaning to impugn the character of the person quoted is not a personal attack.

I had a public-facing job for 24 years and had to learn to encounter and defuse face-to-face rudeness in order to do my job effectively.

This is mumsnet FFS, with swearing and vipers. And a poster banned for a bit of rudeness. Jeez.

I bet most of the people taking the "Mumsnet staff should have just taken it" attitude would be up to human resources in a flash if they were treated with rudeness and contempt at work.

And thanks to the few who keep bumping this thread inadvertently and keeping it active.

It's all about different key strokes.
