This is just so wrong. How can this happen in the 21st century. No oppressed group ever had such power. Just have to dig some more.

... making hysterical links to Nazis on the internet.

I’m not hysterical (uncontrollably emotional, irrational from fear, emotion, or an emotional shock. causing hysteria. suffering from or subject to hysteria Hmm)

And the word Nazi is missing from my post, and only appears in yours. I was using Niemöllers’ quote in relation to individual responsibility.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 21/01/2020 01:17

LGB Alliance have actually said that trans people are permitted to join, as some male bodied people who identify as being of the female ‘gender’ are also gay and attracted to other males. The same goes for female bodied people who identify as those of the male ‘gender’ and are attracted to women. Not all trans people are attracted to those of the opposite sex. LGB is about sex attraction.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 21/01/2020 01:11

have already been thrown out for wearing similar
Similar? What did they say out of curiosity as I'm willing to bet (not a lot, I'm skint lol) that wording plays a part?

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 21/01/2020 01:06

None of them probably would be because there's a difference between wearing those t-shirts and one for what is seen as a hate organisation by the majority of the LGBT community.

Lesbians have already been thrown out of pubs for wearing similar, so what you have said is not actually true.

How is a group advocating for support for people who are attracted to those of the same sex, a hate group? That sounds very homophobic. Why are you demanding that the trans branch of the LGBTQ+ group are included in that group, yet don’t demand that any of the other groups, such as Queers, furries, etc are included? That sounds very exclusive of the other groups. Does that mean that you have hateful views, since you’ve not once included the many other people included in LGBTQ+?

Datun · 21/01/2020 01:05

But snow, the thing that I can't work out is why exactly trans people are so upset with LGB Alliance they are calling it a hate group.

What do they think they're being excluded from? Because it certainly isn't a sexual orientation. What on earth criteria do they possibly have to be included in a group that is all about sexual orientation?

noblegiraffe · 21/01/2020 01:04

because who do you think is going to challenge, change or clarify the law?

People quietly getting on making sensible arguments not people making hysterical links to Nazis on the internet.

From what I understand of the LGB Alliance, they formed in a split from Stonewall because trans people were pissing them off
Their website is all about how gender ideology is dangerous
They paid for full page ads in Scottish newspapers aiming to hold up GRA reforms that trans people are fighting for.

Now regardless about whether they are right or not, surely it is not difficult to imagine why trans people might take exception to this organisation.

So going ‘omg she got chucked out for a t-shirt celebrating homosexuality’ is just disingenuous.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 21/01/2020 00:58

Your Man Utd v City is a good example of context - maybe fine to wear the T-shirt, but you'd be a bit of a wally to wear a Man Utd shirt to a Man City match and not expect people to take issue with it.

OccasionalKite · 21/01/2020 00:52

Why are we being slated because we choose to support X rather than Y?

Would we be reported to the police for wearing a T-shirt supporting Manchester City, rather than Manchester United? Even though that upsets some people and makes them angry?

No, obviously.

But when it comes to women standing up for the L, and distinguishing themselves from the T (because T is a whole different matter from L, and women generally) then it becomes a police matter, because of hurt feelings on behalf of the T!

The T are getting very rubbish media management, with this strategy.

GirlDownUnder · 21/01/2020 00:50

I referenced your comment Hopefully the law will be sorted out by the time it hits. I asked on another thread about the law and it appears to be clear as mud.

And said it reminded me of Niemöllers’ quote because who do you think is going to challenge, change or clarify the law?

If we all just hope that someone else is going to do something and no one does, we can’t complain or ask what the fuck happened. If you can’t support the people trying to make the change you seem to want ie clarity of law, I’m not sure how you think change will happen.

is no one to protect your school, except the groups like LGB Alliance

Ok so you think that the LGB Alliance is a white knight organisation who will do things like protect schools from people who think trans women are women and you refer to the Nazis coming for people.

So it’s entirely possible to believe that there are upset people on the other side of this too.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 20/01/2020 23:08

I would love three people to go to the club, together, with a man wearing a ‘proud to be gay’ and a woman wearing a ‘proud to be a lesbian’ and the third (man or woman) wearing a ‘proud to be trans’ tee shirt. Let them socialise together and see if one is singled out. I think we know which one would be.

theyrazedparadise · 20/01/2020 21:51

I can't get over someone feeling 'attacked and excluded' by a t-shirt.

Nope, it's good old fashioned homophobia.

Homophobes like the T, because it turns gay kids straight.

They can't handle the LBG.

GirlDownUnder · 20/01/2020 21:47

Hopefully the law will be sorted out by the time it hits. I asked on another thread about the law and it appears to be clear as mud.

But who do you think is going to challenge, change or clarify the law? I don’t think it’ll be the TRAs as they seem to be advocating for TWAW, etc so there is no one to protect your school, except the groups like LGB Alliance and they can’t do that without support.

Niemöllers’ quote comes to mind;
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Creepster · 20/01/2020 21:27

Sexual orientation is a protected characteristic in the UK. Management of the pub is in violation of law.
This is just one of the many ways transgender advocates recommend getting out in front of the law. Discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or sex and dare anyone to object.

noblegiraffe · 20/01/2020 20:15

titchy my school doesn’t, as yet, have any trans pupils, so any concerns I might have are entirely hypothetical.

My school always seems to be a few years behind any trends. Hopefully the law will be sorted out by the time it hits. I asked on another thread about the law and it appears to be clear as mud.

Aesopfable · 20/01/2020 19:55

It’s a T-shirt about sexuality. T is not a sexuality.

I also expect a ‘proud to be gay’ one wouldn’t raise an eyebrow. A ‘proud to be Lesbian’ one on the other hand...

titchy · 20/01/2020 19:54

So what do you think about the T noble? Specifically, given you're a secondary school teacher, does anything concern you when girls have to share toilets or accommodation on trips with their Male peers? Anything concerning about the large number of girls who suddenly identify as boys? What are your views on the Oxfordshire CC guidance?

Ereshkigal · 20/01/2020 19:53

If Stonewall and trans twitter were saying the cotton ceiling was bad and condemning anyone promoting it or the idea of it then tbh there who be much less of a reason for the lbg alliance to even exist.

Instead they were, maybe still are, lobbying to decriminalise the offence of "sex by deception" when a trans person conceals their sex to a sexual partner.

noblegiraffe · 20/01/2020 19:48

It’s not the same as a trans pride t-shirt, I would expect a ‘proud to be gay’ t-shirt wouldn’t raise an eyebrow.

It’s the LGB without the T making a point.

Like having a John, Paul, George t-shirt at a Beatles event. It signals that you think there’s a problem with Ringo, not just that you really like John, Paul and George.

RedToothBrush · 20/01/2020 19:38

But you can't go to just an lbg club can you? And certainly not an l only club.

That's kind of the point of the LGB Alliance which seems to be conveniently being missed.

There are no homosexual spaces because they have been appropriated by the T who is now trying to dictate that homosexual is an old fashioned word, that lesbians can have willies and that gender not sex defines your sexuality. Which is a definition which is inherently homophobic on nature.

So if you are lgb you can only go to a straight club or go to an LGBT which is actually run by the terms of the T to which you must comply or be castigated for being bigoted.

And no one is standing up to this homophobia, they are just standing on the slide lines going "she's being goady" for wearing a t-shirt for an organisation against homophobia.

Yep sure she's offensive for supporting an organisation which points out that lgb has right to exist without the approval and rule making of the T.

Sure she's offensive for wearing the t-shirt of an organisation that's fed up of the institutionalised homophobia of Stonewall and the internalised homophobia of parts of the trans community.

Yep she's the one in the wrong here for being 'goady'.

Jesus wept.

ThePurported · 20/01/2020 19:38

What would be the appropriate context, taking into account that people might want to wear the t-shirt to raise awareness about this new org?

Aesopfable · 20/01/2020 19:37

Rocking up to an inclusive of L, G, B, and T club in an LGB T-shirt surely you'd thunk that'd go down like a lead balloon as the saying goes?!

Do you think the same about someone waving a trans flag at a pride parade?

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 20/01/2020 19:26

but wearing their merch is goady
Oh come on, of course it's not but surely you can see it's context?
