FFS! Why did a she have to do this? It’s so divisive and gratuitously mean!

Posie has done a great job bringing people's attention to the topics and even been banned for doing so. I have no issue with her methods. I also liked when she confronted that American transwoman. These types of people should not be allowed to hide and hide what they're doing to destroy women and girls' rights.

I'd never even heard of Julie Bindel until J K Rowling followed her on twitter.

NightLion · 18/01/2020 03:38

Julie may have taken her tweet down, but it's still doing the rounds on twitter. It's not a good look. A timely reminder to think before you tweet.

ShootsFruitAndLeaves · 18/01/2020 03:20

"High profile feminists such as Julie Bindel, Kathleen Stock and Jean Hatchett have all publicly denounced her actions and called her a liability."

Not sure if any other than Bindel qualify as high profile

Thinkingabout1t · 18/01/2020 01:46

Theyrazedparadise and Creepster - I agree 100%.

Thinkingabout1t · 18/01/2020 01:44

Ofthread you ask if a tweet about Posie is true. I doubt it. It sounds like a typical twitter rant that could be about anybody. It’s quite funny, the shrieking abuse poured out by people who accuse others of „hating”.

BickerinBrattle · 18/01/2020 01:34

No American, snowbright, would look at that video of Sarah McBride and think she was being abused. What she was experiencing was how our politics works — in fact how our culture overall works. We’re not a people who stand on decorum and certainly we don’t much engage in politesse.

And lobbyists are public personae.

theyrazedparadise · 18/01/2020 00:36

Disapppointing there's such a long thread here.

Animosity between Bindel and Parker is for them to sort.

Parker is a free speech advocate. Good for her!

Bindel is a feminist who has spent her life working for and with some of the least privileged women in the UK. Good for her!

Stock is an academic who defends the rights of female academics to consider all topics philosophically, including the issue of gender. Good for her!

Hands Across the Aisle is conservative and liberal women working together. Good for them!

The Heritage Foundation allowed ROGD parents to speak in public about their experiences. Good for them in this instance!

And so on and so on.

There's no need to gossip about personal spats (which are par for the course in any movement) and there's no need to 'take sides'.

Creepster · 18/01/2020 00:22

I love them all in spite of and because of everything they do and say.
Women who are not afraid of acting like people in front of everybody.
It warms my frosty old heart. Especially when we make mistakes and learn from them.

WombOfOnesOwn · 17/01/2020 23:27

Men do this so much less to one another. And they imply so much less guilt by association.

Imagine if every person who was friends with Weinstein or Epstein was automatically thought bad for women everywhere, a disgraced discredit. And they're not, at most it's considered one small aspect of who they were unless they were very close indeed. But not so with feminists! Share a stage with someone a bit right-wing one time and you're doing direct harm to the poor and discrediting the entire left.

You can literally associate with rapists and predators, and have men and women alike give you a free pass, while never giving you a free pass for associating with a woman who thinks differently.

Coyoacan · 17/01/2020 23:10

Retrofitted. So how come she has never said anything similar since?

If there is one thing we know about Posie it is that she is very unashamed of her opinions.

Mossyrock · 17/01/2020 22:56

Have you got a link for that, Retrofitted? Presumably Posie's contributions were deleted from the thread, but I'd be interested in reading the context.

Retrofitted · 17/01/2020 22:24

What I do take issue with is wilful misunderstanding

Maybe you’ve forgotten or weren’t here when Posie stuck to her guns and repeated the same things here on mn AnyFucker? In fact, she went further and said that trans people should not be parents. And she said it more than a few times.

This was shortly before she was permanently banned from mn.

This defence that she was misunderstood or taken out of context is tissue-thin, and at odds with the many posts in admiration of her clarity and directness. She was crystal clear on her position, and didn’t hold back on sharing it here.

littlbrowndog · 17/01/2020 22:19

Me too Geordie

GeordieTerf · 17/01/2020 21:32

I am so grateful to everyone who is speaking out against the reinforcement of gender. It includes Julie Bindel, Posie Parker, Dr Moody, Jean Hatchet, and many other brilliant women. I'm also grateful for the other voices, such as Piers Morgan, Harry the Owl, and Boy George. This movement needs to involve everyone if it is going work. It is not a cult, it's a collective, and everyone's voice holds equal weight in my opinion.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 17/01/2020 19:55

PP and JB were both instrumental in my wake up call. Thank you to you both!

Dr Louise Moody - thank you for all that you are doing!!!

Remember in votes for women there were Suffragists as well as Suffragettes. Both played their part.

Even though I love Posie, I’d always assumed she went to HATA just so she could have a trip to America.

Mossyrock · 17/01/2020 19:22

I think we need both you and Posie. And everyone else, all fighting in our own way. But directed outwards, not at each other.

Couldn't agree more.

Justhadathought · 17/01/2020 18:58

*Julie I still love you but what the fucking fuck? Sort it out8

I think that was an 'early hours' post......when her judgment was slightly impaired. ....Julie takes some shit ...and some cynicism is inevitable

exLtEveDallas · 17/01/2020 18:31

I stepped back, massively, after the last Twitter spat - women infighting just hands the TRAs and their handmaidens (Hi mimmymum Smile) the baseball bat baton to beat us with.

I have my own views. Many of them align with JeanH, JulieB etc, many with Posie, JuliaL etc. I think Mona E has drunk the koolaid and tweeted some absolute nonsense over the last few days - especially her fawning, sickening apologies for wrongthink - cringe

I don’t think Posie is racist or homophobic and I give serious side eyes to those who continue to insist she is. But I tend to simply ignore and/or block them because their opinion is worth nothing to me.

I have the greatest respect for people who can own up to their mistakes. We are all dickheads at times and it takes some balls to admit it GrinGrin

ThePurported · 17/01/2020 18:25

Interesting I’ve seen JB direct more anger at PoPa than at TRAs

At the Trans Taliban, as Julie calls them? Grin
I think women on the left are extremely frustrated about the general apathy and fear that have taken hold in progressive circles, and sometimes take it out on those who they see as 'unhelpful'. I understand the frustration, but like political parties, all social movements have members who are a liability. Not saying Posie is one - I wouldn't know as I've never really followed her.

BovaryX · 17/01/2020 18:19

My point is a simple one: any women who speaks out in the current climate is on the front line (e.g. NHS workers, civil servants, retail workers - anyone given the totalitarian creep of gender 'inclusive' policies)

Hi Dr.Louise, I absolutely agree with you. Anyone who faces an HR department is vulnerable and the insidious advance of this totalitarianism is staggering to behold. I also agree with your power analysis and candidates with 'problematic' views. That has worrying implications for conformity being promoted rather than critical thinking. I think it takes real courage to challenge the prevailing orthodoxy and you are an example of that. Cheers!

teawamutu · 17/01/2020 18:15

Another one here who sees no need to agree with everything someone does in order to think some of the things they do are useful and valuable.

We need women's voices. As many as we can manage. All kinds. And we need to not descend into the fucking awful purity purges that the left so specialise in.

theflushedzebra · 17/01/2020 18:14

Hi Lousie, hope you are well - you, Julie and posie all know more than most what it's like to raise your heads above the parapet, and invoke the vengeful wrath of the TRA... Thanks

Fieldofgreycorn · 17/01/2020 18:09

Interesting I’ve seen JB direct more anger at PoPa than at TRAs. I’m trying to work out what that means.
