Labour Lewisham councillor accused of making 'foul and abusive posts' relating to transgender issues

Rather curious news story

One could interpret it as referring to transphobia, but given that Momentum is likely to have purged any such people from the party, it strikes me that this is rather more likely to refer to tweets such as these

It obviously makes far more sense that Labour would cover up an investigation into someone using violent language against feminists than they would protect someone accused of transphobia - the latter would have been expelled.... And as for 'violent language' - you'd be up in court on criminal charges, would you not, if it was supposed transphobia.

I think the nature of this complaint is quite clear.....

Thanks @jadefinch! If anyone has any more screenshots, I'd be very grateful. Thanks

It might be this one

Does anyone have screenshots of Aisling's abusive tweets? Thanks

Ereshkigal · 10/01/2020 19:52

'In my head I am someone else. The someone else is the opposite sex to mine. However, the someone else wants to be my sex.'

Yes I think that covers it and is the simplest explanation I've heard!

nauticant · 10/01/2020 17:44

The account itself has been taken down:

Not clear by whom nor whether it's permanent.

DuMondeB · 10/01/2020 17:40

Tweets deleted - anyone got a screen shot or an archive page?

shedquarters · 10/01/2020 13:25

Actually I have decided to identify as circumgender myself now. I shall put it on on all forms where I am asked for my 'gender' not 'sex'.
We will see how people turn themselves inside out to accommodate that.

shedquarters · 10/01/2020 11:44

I advocate for the Circumgender Hunger Games.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/01/2020 09:47

Ah! At least I know the tune to that

[Scrambled eggs.... la la la le la le scrambled eggs]

LangCleg · 10/01/2020 09:43

My brain has turned to scrambled eggs.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/01/2020 09:42

Say that again ... slowly....

nauticant · 10/01/2020 09:41

You might think that there's no difference between circumgender Dirk-Thor and a bloke called Dirk-Thor who just knows he's Dirk-Thor. But there is one difference, circumgender Dirk-Thor has a special belief about circumgender Dirk-Thor's identity.

Nothing concrete, nothing material, just a special belief. It's religion.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/01/2020 09:12

'In my head I am someone else. The someone else is the opposite sex to mine. However, the someone else wants to be my sex.'

Does that help? It's not helping me. I like things that make life simple, not endlessly complicated.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/01/2020 09:10

I have read that, and the explanation here but really, can someone explain in words of maybe less than one syllable?

I have no idea what any of that is about!!!

I am concentrating on laughing...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/01/2020 09:07

OK, maybe I'm thick, but if I understand what jadefinch has just said correctly circumgender works like this (fictional example, I hope to goodness I don't hit on real names by accident):

Dirk-Thor is male. Dirk-Thor now identifies as a female called Amber-Lily-Rosie-Mae. However, Amber-Lily-Rosie-Mae identifies as male, and conveniently wants to be known as Dirk-Thor.

So Dirk-Thor gets to say 'I come under Stonewall's trans umbrella' without making the slightest change to name, clothing, hormones, body, because of this belief about themselves, which they say is innate? Hmm

On an unrelated point, when does DSM 6 come out?

Iggypoppie · 10/01/2020 08:05

The actual OU probably complained about using their name

jadefinch · 10/01/2020 07:58

Circumgender is when you identify as a member of the opposite sex, and the person you identify as also identifies as a member of their opposite gender. Aisling Gallagher came out as circumgender at a council meeting last year - meaning she can say she's trans and get woke cookies for that, while at the same time being a woman who presents as a woman.

She's quite abusive on Twitter so it could be her - she also claims A LOT of victimhood, including several mental and physical health disabilities that don't seem credible. She has a well paid job, is in a long term relationship and is a Labour Party councillor - none of which is plausible if you have the severe mental health issues she claims she has.

Sexnotgender · 10/01/2020 06:53

What an “interesting” person they seem.

Honestly these people need to get a fucking job and stop dribbling nonsense.

I’ve reported their tweets. Knob.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 10/01/2020 06:43

That article is very unclear. It could be anything in the utter mess that is this debate.
Could be Gallagher complaining that someone else said that biological sex is real, or could be Gallagher themselves calling women terfs.
And circumgender? None of this stuff makes any sense.

unwashedanddazed · 10/01/2020 02:33

Ah, thanks for clearing that up, Shoots. I should have googled instead of giggled! Might also have helped had she put a description under that heading as she did all the other entries. I did think sex worker was a pretty frank and frankly odd addition to a CV.

ShootsFruitAndLeaves · 09/01/2020 22:59

I am also amused by the idea of a volunteer sex worker .

However I have reviewed her Twitter and while she's very pro sex worker, it seems she has not herself been one.

What happened was she was a volunteer for what some idiot decided would be a good idea to call 'Sex Worker Open University'.

No it wasn't a university, and no it wasn't connected to the actual Open University, it seems to be the equivalent to putting 'university of life' on your CV. It is now called SWARM (sex worker advocacy and resistance movement) and it states its mission is to advocate for sex worker rights.

So not a university at all, not even an education project. It just seems to be what happens when you get people who are thick as pig shit starting projects - failing utterly even in naming their project.

I think Ms Gallagher not being a sex worker but being an advocate for them is a similar process to being a transgender afab woman, but unironically.

The Sex Worker Open University is <a class="break-all" href="https://www.blogger.com/blogin.g?blogspotURL=sexworkeropenuniversity.blogspot.com/?m%3D1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">taken down by Google for violations of terms of service resulting to obscene content. I hate to think what it was.

shedquarters · 09/01/2020 22:33

Volunteered as a sex worker!
At the OU!! The Open University???

What is circumgender???
Is this some kind of code?
I am really trying to follow all of this... Its just too hard

GrinitchSpinach · 09/01/2020 22:24

Lol at Facepalm Councillor [?] in photo.

HandsOffMyRights · 09/01/2020 22:11

Wasn't it Lewisham where a representative from the Labour party was hiding posts from women on Facebook?

Circumgender? Every day's a school day.

unwashedanddazed · 09/01/2020 21:52

According to their LinkedIn they volunteered as a sex worker for two years at the OU. I don't know what a volunteer sex worker is. If you're doing it voluntarily, how are you a worker? Maybe they identified as having been paid.
