From Twitter:

"Yaniv’s new complaint again targets an esthetics salon run by women of immigrant background. She Point Beauty Studio is operated by East Indian women who are adherents to the Sikh religion. Yaniv approached the studio in August 2019 and first requested a Brazilian bikini wax.

"The studio refused, stating that their services are only for women. Yaniv then requested leg waxing services. Leg waxing takes place in private with the customer in their underwear or nude from the waist down.

"She Point Beauty Studio rejected Yaniv’s request for services due to religious, cultural and safety reasons, and because the salon services are specialized to women. Yaniv filed the complaint against She Point Beauty Studio in early October 2019.

"A hearing date has not yet been set for Yaniv’s new complaint. It is anticipated it will proceed to a hearing sometime in 2020."

Isn't the definition of stupidity doing the same thing and expecting a different result?

The sixteen odd waxing cases were, this is for when JY brandished tazers during Blaire White’s video ‘chat’... JY was arrested and is facing two charges

I thought this had been settled?

MidnightBlue28 · 14/01/2020 03:36

I seriously hope Keean presses charges...

BitOfFun · 14/01/2020 03:23

Good grief, Yaniv has absolutely no shame Angry.

What no mobility scooter or stick? Quite a speedy mover when circumstances demand.

smileylottie87 · 14/01/2020 02:40

So the media couldn't write about it and it couldn't be discussed on social media for the reasons of harassment but was denied.

Next court date is Feb 10th, extension was requested by JY as they are "in between lawyers" and needed more time.

BitOfFun · 14/01/2020 02:36

The reporter says he was punched in the back of the head while held down.

I really hope that Yaniv is arrested and charged for assault. The footage is shocking.

However, Yaniv has been caught before on camera assaulting a journalist, using a mobility cane, and the police refused to take it further.

AutumnRose1 · 14/01/2020 02:18

What’s the publication ban for please?

In the court appearance today JY tried to have a publication ban put in place for the hearing but failed. At the courthouse JY accused a journalist of taking pictures of them in the toilet (police searched the phone and there were no pictures) and accused another person of following them, when in fact there was a room move and everyone was just heading there. Police involved in each incident.

The court date is now set for early February, however upon leaving court JY attacked a journalist, appears to punch them in the stomach and follows the reporter whilst telling them to stay away.

The incident was reported to police and there are other cameras outside the courthouse so presumably the whole incident will be caught on camera and possible assault charges might follow.

MidnightBlue28 · 14/01/2020 00:09

Well, after some fun and games... next court date for the tazers is in February

Also can't see the medium article, was looking forward to reading it.

This new case from JY is not just for leg waxing, they requested a Brazilian at the same time (seen in screenshots) and the salon owner directed JY to a salon that would be able to accommodate them. Clearly not good enough as JY wanted to force the uncomfortable woman to do it. They would probably bring a bloody sexual harassment case against her if she had actually done it.

I don't think they should be able to bring any cases to court until they've paid their previous debt and am now feeling conflicted about their potential imprisonment if they are going into a women's prison.

The videos need serious investigation and I just cannot see how a judge could not take their racist messages against female minorities into account when making a ruling. JY is dangerous and a walking advert for many of the problems people have with the proposed changes.

WelshMoth · 10/01/2020 20:06

Did anyone save that medium article? It's been reported and removed.

Michelleoftheresistance · 08/01/2020 10:31

The boundary under attack is should a female person be allowed to choose whether the body they work with is biologically female or self identified/legally changed to be a woman. And know the difference. And have different feelings about this based on their own feelings, choices, perceptions, needs. In many ways it's what Maya sought to ask: where does this person's personal feelings and choices about their life allow them to override my objective reality and my own choices and feelings?

Canada's waxers/beauticians should have been on this after the first case and begun to specify clearly whether they provided for natal females/recorded as female at birth as opposed to 'women' which has become a catch all term, and opens them up to action. Interesting that this again targets ethnic minority providers.

The judge also skirted around the sexual aspects in the last case, which were very plainly there and should really have been addressed as to whether the complainant was indeed using the courtroom and questioning process to exploit this a little further. If a beautician is being expected to wax the legs of someone with a strongly visible erection, who wants to talk in detail about their tampon string, who is clearly finding the whole process extremely arousing and has sought it for that reason - then no, it's not 'absolutely the same' as waxing another female regarding it as a painful mundanity.

Boils down to the experience and rights of both people. As always.

RoyalCorgi · 08/01/2020 08:31

Are Karen White's victims able to sue the institutions and the Government?

I believe one of them is taking the authorities to court over this - don't have any more details, though.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/01/2020 08:28

"I don't want to touch that particular person" should be a good enough reason to refuse to perform any service involving bodily contact, unless it's a life or death situation for the recipient. If someone doesn't want to cut my hair, even for what I consider irrational reasons, should I be able to haul them into court? The whole thing is ridiculous.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 08/01/2020 08:24

I think the message has been, whatever your natural sexual expression is, it's healthy and good. Barring non-consent. Because if we said any were unhealthy, well, that just opens the door to prudishness, homophobia, and Victorian attitudes.

It’s like the Tim Minchin song- don’t open your mind so far that your brains fall out. That’s what’s happened here. People have been groomed to accept all sexual expression without question or you’re a ‘phobe.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/01/2020 07:56

Didn't the judgement on the last case specifically mention that the judge might have ruled differently if the waxing service requested hadn't involved genitalia? I believe she specifically mentioned an arm wax. Which Yaniv apparently interpreted as a green light to try again with the extortion attempts, with the leg rather than arm waxing being an unsurprising attempt to push the boundaries as far as they might stretch.

Seems to me that the judge pretty much set this up for Yaniv. It wasn't quite step by step instructions about how to try again, but close enough.

TheNameGames · 08/01/2020 07:45

My woker-than-woke right-on, TWAW, LOJ supporting brother works in a quite notorious men’s prison and even he says that he suspects some of the prisoners in his prison that are transitioning are just doing it to get an easier time inside and access to women and have no case of being trans at all. If you knew him you would consider it a big deal as he’s almost on the Layla “seeing souls” territory.

Gingerkittykat · 08/01/2020 07:27

tweet

“I agree generally with Ms. Yaniv that a person who customarily offers women the service of waxing their arms or legs cannot discriminate between cisgender and transgender women absent a bona fide reasonable justification”

I've never had my legs waxed but I believe the customer removes clothing from lower body apart from underwear. I would say not wanting to be in close proximity to male genitals, even if clothed, should be a good enough reason to refuse the waxing but not sure if the courts will see it like this.

Goosefoot · 08/01/2020 00:19

Yeah. I think the message has been, whatever your natural sexual expression is, it's healthy and good. Barring non-consent. Because if we said any were unhealthy, well, that just opens the door to prudishness, homophobia, and Victorian attitudes.

But non-consent is really only one element of an unhealthy sexual preoccupation. There are all kinds of others, some of which create risk in terms of non-consent. But even if they don't, they represent a type of sexual development that has a good chance of negatively impacting the people who are involved in it. And sometimes they also represent an inappropriate kind of exposure to sexual content in the formative years.

This is something that psychologists are well aware of, and there are lots of studies and academic papers about it. But the public knowledge of it has really become sort of a blank. Enough so that I think many people are no longer capable of identifying warning signs when they see them.

Needmoresleep · 08/01/2020 00:05

Or normalised?

Goosefoot · 07/01/2020 23:42

I wonder how much of this comes down to people no longer really understanding that sexual deviancy is really something that exists. It's almost as if the whole concept has been abandoned.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 07/01/2020 22:11

Get on with it, Canada, and let everyone see how you protect the rights of people like Yaniv.

FannyCann · 07/01/2020 20:47

It's a really grim article isn't it Kilbranan , Michelle ? I don't know how we can come back from this and reclaim women's spaces. Too many men are getting off on invading them with the full backing of the law. Sometimes I feel like the only way it will be ended will be with a full on reverse swing of the pendulum taking women right back to our oppression - some sort of Gilead meets Victorian prudery meets the Amish meets Afghanistan. Sad
I digress and derail.
