The war on women continues:

The poor, poor woman. Facing a year in jail for being gang-raped.

she executed eye for an eye justice,

How exactly? Her friends took her to a doctor, the doctor called the police, the bloke she was seeing gave the names of the others. What exactly did she do,execute or plan?

Rogileiza · 31/12/2019 14:02

Cut her loose, she executed eye for an eye justice, the boys shamed her by exposing an unauthorized personal video, so she shamed the boys back by throwing them in jail. Unfortunately there were no severe laws to protect the girl against the public humiliation the boys put her through by secretly recording that video.

MangoSplit · 31/12/2019 11:51

This poor woman. I've just donated to the crowdfunder and signed the petition.

Thatagain · 31/12/2019 11:51

I believe her. It's easier and cheaper not to listen to a victim. That's the sad reality. I hope they see the truth and she gets freed soon. It's not fair that this can happen.

RhinoskinhaveI · 31/12/2019 11:46

This is an horrendous case and a reminder that many holiday destinations although we see them as idyllic are in fact very corrupt

bd67th · 31/12/2019 11:25

ferrier Which ones? If I've made a factual error, please correct me.

Here is the link to the song. It is so powerful!

angell84 · 31/12/2019 11:17

Have you guys heard "the rapist in your path" song. It is out now. It is being sung by women around the world in protest to rape. It is so powerful

angell84 · 31/12/2019 11:16

@bd67th yes there definitely seems to be an opinion in groups of men - that women are objects to be passed around. It is so sad!

There also seems to be an opinion in certain groups of men - that if you have sex with one of them - you will be up for sex with all of them.

Look at the examples:
The belfast rugby rape case . She was kissig one man, she said that his friend walked in with his penis out and said "you had sex with him, why not me!"

The cricket rape case in England. The woman was having sex with one cricket player, and then another cricket player came in and raped her.

There is such a bad view along alot of males that women are objects, that if she consents to sex with one person - she is free game for all the rest, that women are not human beings - they are just there to serve men.

A man said to me only last week "men see women as "just for sex"

angell84 · 31/12/2019 10:38

Okay we don't know that they gang raped her. We should say they allegedly gang raped her.

What we do know, is that she was forced to retract her statement. And that is horrendous.

The whole thing should be a retrial with a new judge.

ferrier · 31/12/2019 10:00

@bd67th You are making a whole load of statements which are simply not true. Whilst I appreciate that you want to support this poor woman, what you are claiming is not at all helpful.

CrissmussMockers · 31/12/2019 09:52

And the men got a hero's welcome, when they touched down in Israel.

A country not without its persecution complex, with reasons.

So it looks like Raab has stuck his finger in the wind and decided there are brownie points to be had from this, which is a sort of a good thing, perhaps.

And the Fuengirola case is very very odd. Kids have been trapped in filtration vents, but not full-grown adults.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 31/12/2019 09:50

I believe the girl, I think a lot of terrible things happen in resorts and are covered up to protect the tourism industry and I wonder how many people who find themselves in similar situations actually receive real justice

Absolutely mrsdoyle

Dd is going on holiday for the first time with friends in 2020, im actually getting a bit frightened and i don’t usually

OceanSunFish · 31/12/2019 09:49

Dieu that is horrific Angry

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 31/12/2019 09:47

My understanding is that it wasn’t the girl who named the 11 rapists- it was the man she’d consented to have sex with who did

This (thanks to bearded)

And what panic said

Dieu · 31/12/2019 09:44

And the men got a hero's welcome, when they touched down in Israel.
Fucking lovely.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 31/12/2019 09:43

I was watching this on the news last night and the next article was that poor family who drowned together in a Spanish pool. Sadly I don't believe they will get justice either.

I believe the girl, I think a lot of terrible things happen in resorts and are covered up to protect the tourism industry and I wonder how many people who find themselves in similar situations actually receive real justice.

Dieu · 31/12/2019 09:36

I certainly wouldn't want my 18 year old to go to Cyprus. A dreadful precedent has been set.
I can't imagine the terror this girl went through. She will be scarred by this.

LangCleg · 31/12/2019 09:18

She didn't report to the police herself. Her doctor did after treating her injuries. She had no control or choice over that

She didn't name the boys/men, the guy who she had the fling with did. She has no choice over that.

How exactly did she lie or plan this?

This.

TiredofthisBS · 31/12/2019 09:07

I believe her.

RoyalCorgi · 31/12/2019 08:50

There was a significant line in the Guardian report that said:

'The protesters said Monday’s verdict also spoke of the desire of authorities to “look good” at a time when Cyprus’s police force is facing unprecedented scrutiny for a string of perceived failures, including in detecting a serial killer who has since admitted killing seven foreign women and girls on the island.'

It seems to me exceptionally unlikely that this woman is lying. It's horrific. Women are already frightened to report rape cases. This will make the matter much worse than it already is.

Lollypalooza · 31/12/2019 08:44

I believe her.

Has anyone watched the Netflix drama Unbelievable (based on a real case)? The first case of the young woman, Marie, who the older male police officers convince/coerce to drop her rape accusations then get her convicted of lying reminded me (in some ways) of this.

OceanSunFish · 31/12/2019 08:26

I believe her.

I've just donated to the crowdfunder and signed the petition on change.org.

Gronky · 31/12/2019 08:02

Come on - the dismissal was given in the very specific context of a night out in a resort in Cyprus with your holiday fling. I think "end of" is a fairly normal response to that.

If that's the case, I'm very sorry for the confusion on my end.

bd67th et al. historically, kink/slut shaming was used to silence women reporting rape. I also think there's a misconception that refraining from shaming is the same as overt approval. I'm not demanding that every person 'high five' those who engage in unusual practices, I just ask that they don't heap scorn on those who do or directly deny that anyone could enjoy something that occurs between one or more consenting adults.

At the same time, I entirely agree that the victim in this case is clearly stating that she didn't consent and I don't doubt her.

I think what you're really worried about is the conclusions I would come to about the kind of man who would commit that kind of act.

That's not something I'm concerned about at all.
