I think this type of headline is despicable, for a number of reasons, not least because it is using this couple and their baby as click bait. There's an immense amount of cynicism behind the choice to make money ('cos that's all clicks are) out of this couple.

I have no comment to make on the family themselves, other than I am glad their child was born healthy and happy, and that I support female same sex couples to raise a family.

I do not believe the sex-denialism on show is in the child's best interests, however.

So the transman who carried and gestated the baby wasn’t biologically related to it? The non-binary partner provided their egg, which was fertilised by a sperm donor then the transman had the embryo implanted and went through the pregnancy?

Oh and the sperm donor identified as female?

They both look like women. What is wrong with simply being a lesbian couple and having a baby with a sperm donor which is essentially exactly what they have done.

I just hope the baby isn't manipulated into messing with their own body too when they are older.

If this child is loved they will be in a much better position than many children, but give or take a few decades and a few thousand miles, and the parents would be in exactly the same situation as any one else born female - lacking rights because of their biological sex.

I was so relieved to learn that at least the mother had been off testosterone for 6 years so hopefully that will have greatly minimised any possible side effect of this powerful synthetic hormone on the mother’s ovum and on the pregnancy itself. I really didn’t feel comfortable with the fact that they obviously set out to use a transwoman’s Sperm and looked on Facebook FGS! Didn’t they have any healthy male friends in their circle so they could ascertain their health and lifestyle and get some ‘trusted’ sperm? I wonder whether the trans woman’s sperm was affected by taking oestrogen? I thought it would seriously reduce its motility and concentration? Maybe this trans woman was not on any hormones and just was a self-ID trans woman and only ‘presented’ as a woman? So many questions!

Seems like their desire to have the ultimate ‘trans’ baby over-rode everything else. Did they not want the baby ‘infected’ with any trace of ‘heteronormativity’ or ‘cisness’? The baby is adorable and I am sure it will be well loved by the pair of them and well looked after but the cognitive dissonance is utterly staggering. Do they really feel upset that no one in the pregnancy clinic accepted them as a man when they presented there PREGNANT? If I saw a pregnant bearded person at a pregnancy clinic I would think that’s a transman and I would make small talk about backache, ‘do you know what you’re having? (And that’s not an offensive question to ask because Jake and Hannah who are having their baby by a surrogate have announced their baby is a girl and they are THE trans power couple of the moment who make educational films about it!) I would side step and steer well clear of any talk of them perceiving themselves as a man though. Pregnancy is a big enough head fuck for most women at the best of times without having to accommodate this kind of linguistic distortion and gymnastics!

One thing that does surprise me is how these trans men on testosterone seem to be able to get pregnant quite easily once they stop the testosterone. Good news for detransitioners.
