And I agree that Bunbury would suggest that anyone who's innocently provided which constituency they're located in should ask MNHQ to delete that for them as a safety precaution.

koshkat · 15/12/2019 15:13

This!

EmpressLesbianInChair · 15/12/2019 15:10

I am still taken aback by the vicious hatred on display on MN.

Well yes. When you realise there a bunch of people out there who seem to think their life’s mission is to police feminist women, screenshot their posts & report anyone who says something they don’t like, it’s pretty chilling isn’t it?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 15/12/2019 15:09

My area is in 500s, so not very supportive. 76% are either neutral or opposed.a I agree with PP that the response would be very different if the questions were more detailed.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 15/12/2019 14:57

Odd that Sheffield South East would be neck in neck with Islington South for the strongest support I can find. Not sure what percentage of the population are students.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 15/12/2019 14:48

Compare that map with the SNPs policies and you're left assuming most of the Scottish public must not realize what the policies are (though WTF is going on in NE Fife). The strongly agree and strongly disagree percentages are so close that you'd think the wisest thing to do would be not to commit to either side in terms of electoral strategy, but I suppose named person shows they think they can push things through with little public support. Expending to look at England and Wales too the only strong support over 45% areas I can see are all in London, and the strongest support outside London is in uni towns like Durham. So basically students and academics strong yes, rural areas tons of strongly opposed, lots of people not committing. The Plaid Cymru position also seems oddly out of keeping with how many dark pink areas they have.

Also interesting that the question posed is at the very mild end in terms of support for gender stuff (someone could choose to change their name and identify as a different gender and do nothing else and I think most adults would see that as a phase a child might grow out of). I'd like to see the responses to questions about "puberty blockers" for tween and teens and surgery for older teens, and for access to women's/girls spaces. I'd be very surprised (and horrified honestly) to see as much support for elective mastectomies for girls in their late teens, which makes me wonder how many people even know about that.

Scroedingers hatred

koshkat · 15/12/2019 14:27

Vicious hatred = women who disagree.

HorseWithNoYawnsToGive · 15/12/2019 14:25

I am still taken aback by the vicious hatred on display on MN.

It should be really easy for you to provide an example of it then.

Nobody has ever been able to so you'd be the first.

OhHolyJesus · 15/12/2019 14:20

I'm more concerned about provisions for the homeless, the elderly and the disabled in my area, as well mental health services.

Gingerkittykat · 15/12/2019 14:20

Rank 419, the only areas near me in Scotland which are green are around the St Andrews area, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh East which coincidentally are university towns. Is it the same picture throughout the country?

Michelleoftheresistance · 15/12/2019 14:18

1/10 Can't even be buggered to engage. Wow there's a lot of het up people following the election.

ToLiveInPeace · 15/12/2019 14:15

My area is very trans friendly. I am still taken aback by the vicious hatred on display on MN.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 15/12/2019 14:10

That sounds like it could be perceived as cis drag which has been said to be transphobic.
I can't remember the reasoning but I'm 1090% sure it's literal violence.
So hopefully anyone considering it can a)know better and subsequently b)do better

EmpressLesbianInChair · 15/12/2019 13:59

There’s an article in the Sunday Times about high heels coming back into fashion for men. I wonder what implications that will have for those who cite their taste for heels as evidence of their ‘girl genes’?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 15/12/2019 13:53

I suppose people feel they have to make decisions about their gender identity because of patriarchy.
Gender roles that are prescriptive rather than an understanding of sexed bodies which is merely descriptive.
That sort of thing?

merrymouse · 15/12/2019 13:49

Why does anyone have to make a decision about their gender identity?

BarbaraStrozzi · 15/12/2019 13:22

I was wondering that too, Empress. I think she would recommend being suitably vague about one's precise details if one were interested in preserving anonymity.

My constituency is, unsurprisingly, fairly Wiley woke. I'm somewhat taken aback that a result in the low 40s for being in favour of free speech puts it among the more "tolerant" areas of the country.

koshkat · 15/12/2019 13:18

Maybe have think about it and get back to us. Confused

Siameasy · 15/12/2019 13:17

Mine is strongly supportive of free speech! Yay.
Bottom 100 for supportive of gender identity
The question is vague, as is gender itself.
Quite a deprived constituency, strongly Tory and leave.

MIdgebabe · 15/12/2019 13:16

Relevance to feminist board?

koshkat · 15/12/2019 13:04

But we are 500+ in the rankings so that is at least a positive.

koshkat · 15/12/2019 13:04

Mine is split 50/50 it seems. I think if people actually understood what it all meant it would be strongly against.

DeathByPuppy · 15/12/2019 13:03

I don’t live in a trendy place, btw, but it is a University town.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 15/12/2019 13:03

Does Bunbury have any views on this, does anyone know?
