Article about 'non binary'

This is doing the rounds and an old school fronds has posted it claiming to be a lesson in kindness.

I just find the gaslighting mind boggling.

Girls are the victims of a society that makes being a female both dangerous, shameful and objects. I'm not surprised that when breasts start to grow they feel so uneasy.

Why can't people see that the default to masculinity is as bad as gender stereotyping?

As an aside, does anyone happen to know if these particular binders are "better?"

Good. This is a fucking awful thing to lie about. Especially the smug winning over the howwid bigoted pawent.

TinselAngel · 19/12/2019 12:05

Who'd have thunk it?

Posted on another thread, it's looking quite likely that Rain Dove made these conversations up.

Well I for one am shocked and outraged.

Seems to be a bit of a habit in woke circles this 'making stuff up because they don't have any arguments to support their nonsense' business.

There used to be tens or hundreds where now there are thousands of girls pushing for transition. Thousands.

MIdgebabe · 08/12/2019 16:20

But it's not been widely discussed. It was never presented as a option for me as a child and back then there was no way to find out about it.

Which meant that the only people transitioning had already spent years under medical support. They were grown , with a problem that started very young and persisted into full adulthood.

It was a last resort, not a choice, not a way forward if al else fails but a desperate measure

AppleTree76 · 08/12/2019 16:15

@MIdgebabe medical transition has been happening since the 1930's so it has been happening for a considerable time.

MIdgebabe · 08/12/2019 16:09

Becuase your approach to harm reduction doesn't look like harm reduction at all?

In the past the VAST majority of trans identifying children grew up as normal happy adults. Now a significant proportion are ending up on a medical pathway which is physically harming them, with no evidence to support any long term mental health improvement , and some evidence to suggest that mental health does not improve.

So, since more people are being harmed than in the past, that's not harm reduction in my eyes

provided you go through the hoops you can get what you want...which is actually harmful. Because it's easy to find out what the hoops are. Because when you are a troubled teen you know better than anyone what the truth is about yourself, so you will happily disregard anything which contradicts that truth. And then 30 years later you realise how inward looking and naive you were, and how pain clouded your judgement

AppleTree76 · 08/12/2019 16:08

@ACatWhoBinds I have to say well siad, I agree with everything you have written.

ACatWhoBinds · 08/12/2019 15:49

Therapy should be the first port of call for everything. I honestly think everyone should do it. And that doesn’t contradict opening a dialogue with the child and possibly getting a binder for them. They should be given therapy, not forced to deny their feelings. They might get through it and realise they’re more comfortable with it but they might feel even more certain about it. And hormones are one of the last resorts, I know, but if that’s what’s necessary then denying it isn’t good (after having therapy/talking about it/having a dialogue with parents). A very close friend of mine had horrific dysphoria and at first his mum didn’t want him to go to the doctors. He seriously considered buying testosterone on the deep web. We talked about it and agreed that it wouldn’t be a safe option. He’s on it now (he’s 19) and the change is amazing. It makes me so happy to see him happy. And this is the UK, rather than the US, but my point is still the same. Why is harm reduction such a bad thing? As long as all the options and outcomes are discussed and the decision is made sensibly

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2019 14:05

Androgynous looking. Rain is an xx woman and by the looks of it uses female bathrooms.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2019 14:04

Rain isn't a transsexual so it's not about that.

And yes, TW have no idea what being a female is so how on earth are they qualified to claim to be so? (The TWAW ones, I know others who don't claim this.)

Rain fell into all this because Rain is androgynous and has some really good points about society and stereotypes. Getting into the trans stuff is where Rain has made errors or judgement.

Growing up a fair percentage if us were constantly embarassed by our changing bodies, the reaction of boys and men didn't help. If you didn't grow up a girl then butt out, you can't imagine what it was like.

Is there such a thing as grooming by proxy? Safeguarding states that safe adults don't mimic the behaviours of unsafe adults. It confuses children and erodes their boundaries, it creates an illusion of trust.

DuMondeB · 08/12/2019 13:32

unless you have gender dysphoria then I don't think you can really comment on stuff you have no clue about! Simple!

Excellent. Now, can you please start telling transwomen that they know fuck all about being a woman? Thanks in advance.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2019 13:30

AGH1947

This article isn't about you, (I assume) an adult.

This is about a child wishing to change sex and a famous model basically saying, yes go ahead.

OP posts:
MIdgebabe · 08/12/2019 13:29

Well I am not a transman.
But I am pretty sure if I was 30 years younger I would be.
If we look at my feelings as an older child and through my teenage years, i couldn't understand what had gone wrong, why I wasn't David. I certainly wasn't a girl. There is darker stuff too. But trans wasn't given to me as a option.

Which meant I just had to face reality and get on with living.

as I get older I understand and am grateful for my health, lack of medicalisation, mental strength, and pride at what I have achieved despite being female, how I have helped change minds about women ( cringe, sorry , just an ordinary woman in tech, one of the fist however recruited into the company)

So body dismorphia, yes, gender dysmorphia, also yes, yet clearly i never trans I guess, but I will never accept female as a gender identity.

but my question is then do you tell true trans and those who can grow into themselves ? Accept themselves warts and all.

AGH1947 · 08/12/2019 13:26

@birdsdestiny I simply came on to answer the question the op asked. Not to listen to people's opinions on what I can do to my own body.

Melroses · 08/12/2019 13:25

Of course, everyone is non-binary then.

Melroses · 08/12/2019 13:24

If gender is a spectrum then there is no binary to be non binary about.

Sorted.

birdsdestiny · 08/12/2019 13:21

Does that apply to everything. If you are not a woman you cant comment on stuff you have no clue about?

AGH1947 · 08/12/2019 13:19
