The men who attacked the lesbian/bisexual couple who refused to kiss for them are in court today. Stonewall asked for a comment and manage to make it about attacks on trans people. Would it kill them just for once to not mention trans

Well this is annoying, the page had been archived, but the Wayback Machine has deleted it.

Peniswall

Michelleoftheresistance · 29/11/2019 09:08

Well I never. Stonewall are actually starting to grasp the idea of poor optics and overselling?

IWantADifferentName · 28/11/2019 21:58

The article has now been edited and the Trans sentence removed.

Not sure who has been sloppy here - the reporter or Stonewall - but there was no correction info instead when I checked other than saying it had been posted/edited one hour ago.

FloralBunting · 28/11/2019 21:51

But yes, Laura does indeed appear to be a woman in the non religious sense of the word.

FloralBunting · 28/11/2019 21:46

Sorry, misunderstood, being distracted by offline stuff.

FloralBunting · 28/11/2019 21:45

They are both women. In the properly understood sense of the word, rather than the neo-religious, mystical term.

zanahoria · 28/11/2019 21:43

is Laura a woman?

littlecabbage · 28/11/2019 20:59

Yes, it has been edited. Comment is no longer there.

FloralBunting · 28/11/2019 20:58

Wtf is wrong with my autocorrect?

Trabs = trans
Mom = no

FloralBunting · 28/11/2019 20:56

As I recall, the lesbian victims were very quick to point out that even though they had been bloodied on a bus for being a same sex couple, it was so much worse for Trans.

They are the kind of lesbians that Stonewall approves of. Their suffering is a useful hinge for the trabs-narrative, it has mom worth in and of itself.

And, as an aside, I've become increasingly irked in recent days by the phrase 'She is LGBTQ'. Fucksake, you can't be all of them.

weehoo · 28/11/2019 20:15

It seems to have been exited now as the last paragraph is no longer there?

stumbledin · 28/11/2019 20:11

I think whether a journalist just sloppily used an old press release or Stonewall just sent up the same statement show just how entrenched the erasing of lesbians has become.

The Independent at one time seemed to offer a more trans critical position that the Guardian, but then in no time at all they were colonised by Guardian left over journalists and its only goes down the rainbow road now.

And Stonewall at all times is pushing the agenda of trans martyrdom. They have just published a shock horror article about how the BBC WASTED 57 MINUTES OF PUBLIC BROADCAST TIME ON DETRANSITIONING IN ONE WEEK!!!!

I just cant understand how they are taken seriously.

Gingerkittykat · 28/11/2019 20:02

It seems good old homophobia doesn't matter to them.

AnotherNightWatering · 28/11/2019 18:56

The misplaced quote comes from this press release of 15 Oct.
www.stonewall.org.uk/about-us/media-statements/stonewall-response-increase-anti-lgbt-hate-crime-figures

I assume it's an error. Perhaps someone working at Stonewall just reused the quote, or accidentally didn't cut it out of a response they were writing based on an old press release. Or a journalist at The Independent reused it.

Whichever, it's not a good look!

HumberHellraiser · 28/11/2019 18:54

I’d be willing to bet that this is a stock comm’s department comment from Stonewall. It is generic, thoughtless and simply regurgitates the same trans related soundbites it uses for everything.

Michelleoftheresistance · 28/11/2019 18:28

Mind you Stonewall probably have realised they only have a few more days left before Harry Miller's verdict hits the paper and the UK becomes deeply cynical about what hate crimes means in truth.

Michelleoftheresistance · 28/11/2019 18:24

The lesbians were even very good girls and called themselves queer as I remember, thereby ensuring the implication that they were definitely absolutely not the naughty homosexual sort.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 28/11/2019 17:41

I think most people who read it will just assume from the Stonewall quote that one of the lesbians was trans.

ArabellaDoreenFig · 28/11/2019 17:39

You really couldn’t make this up! But hopefully this means that more people will see what Stonewall is about- and it sure isn’t about supporting lesbians.

PurpleHoodie · 28/11/2019 17:31

Aaaaaand there we have it: exactly why LGBAlliance is very much needed.

Inebriati · 28/11/2019 17:23

WTAF. Why would any company pay Stonewall after reading that?

That can't be right. It makes them look ridiculous.

midcenturylegs · 28/11/2019 16:53

Sorry, my post was a bit random. Have been reading a bit of Clive James today as is obvious.

A very weird article, wasn't anything to do with trans.. those poor girls not only having to have gone through what they did but having Stonewall invalidate their experience
