It's not a question of Do No Harm, says the Tavi doc. It's just How do you mitigate the harm.

Maitliss, you fucking Queen. Best skewering of a disingenuous TRA on the BBC ever.

ThomasRichard · 25/11/2019 23:09

Emily Maitliss is really pushing for answers on why irreversible treatment is being given without evidence. Good.

littlecabbage · 25/11/2019 23:08

More on this tomorrow on Radio 4, 8pm. (File on 4).

RedToothBrush · 25/11/2019 23:08

the mermaids person had really weird body language at the very end of the interview. it was like a moment where they went 'did i say the right thing there?' it was odd.

This Tavistock woman is a politician who doesn't understand what evidence is. "We haven't got the gold standard research but we know what we are doing" despite not following up on the long term outcomes. Personal bias is literally jumping off my screen. She's a liar.

Neolara · 25/11/2019 23:08

EM going for it. In the nicest possible way.

littlecabbage · 25/11/2019 23:07

She's trying to talk down to Emily, but Emily is showing that she really understands the subject.

FloralBunting · 25/11/2019 23:06

The Tavi doc keeps shrugging at the lack of clinical evidence and research. Maitliss is agog at the dismissals.

NewNameGuy · 25/11/2019 23:06

So, the head of the tavistock is a TRA
Fab

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/11/2019 23:06

I’m waiting for her to ask Maitliss to “be nice” or something

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/11/2019 23:05

This woman is a disgrace. Why so defensive hmm?

MaryMungoandMidgetoo · 25/11/2019 23:05

'We don't know' - really no intellectual curiosity?

donquixotedelamancha · 25/11/2019 23:05

What the fuck has got into BBC?

Maitliss is really going for it. It's like a different chanel.

HopeClearwater · 25/11/2019 23:04

‘Assigned at birth’ - careful stepping from BBC
Good to see Maitlis asking for scientific research evidence!!

littlecabbage · 25/11/2019 23:04

(IMHO!)

MaryMungoandMidgetoo · 25/11/2019 23:04

But very pleased this is being talked about.

MaryMungoandMidgetoo · 25/11/2019 23:03

I wouldn't call it a grilling. I've never heard Emily speak so softly.

littlecabbage · 25/11/2019 23:03

Emily Maitliss is really good!

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/11/2019 23:03

And great to see Charlie Evans stating her truths so clearly and articulately.

She was great.

Come on Maitliss.....

NewNameGuy · 25/11/2019 23:03

Thanks! Presenter kicking arse like prince Andrew

Meercatsarecats · 25/11/2019 23:02

The person from mermaids was odd.
She definitely had the look of someone who doesn't actually believe a word coming out of her own mouth.
This one's a liar too

littlecabbage · 25/11/2019 23:02

Dr Elizabeth van Horn from Tavistock being grilled now - good.

FloralBunting · 25/11/2019 23:02

Emily Maitliss challenging the Tavi Doc on duty of care follow up. She's treading carefully, but she is clearly clued up.

MrsSnippyPants · 25/11/2019 23:01

ReSisters banners and the fabulous lesbian women! Yes!

(I really should be in bed but saw that as I went to turn the TV off. Will watch it tomorrow).

littlecabbage · 25/11/2019 23:01

I found the person from Mermaids odd.
Yes, smiling far too much for such a serious subject.

FloralBunting · 25/11/2019 23:00

The most important thing, says the mermaids bod, is that everyone feels validated.
