Looking for kids letter to Santa and found this

I'm not going mad, am I? This isn't ok, is it?

Amidst the list of Santa letter kits on Amazon this appeared. Either I need to give my head a wobble or things are just continuing to get worse for women. The suggested recipient list included wife, girlfriend, sister, aunt, cousin.

Help me make sense of why I feel so angry about this

It's a bit weird though

To imagine that someone would make something so trivial up is bizarre

I mean yes some people are weird but it does seem excessively paranoid to think oh yes this is obvious bollocks!

ExchangedCat · 24/11/2019 15:13

Fraggling it's the internet and none of us can prove anything. At the end if the day though their lack of belief doesn't change what happened and thus my posting about it

...Pink cards for girls. Blue cards for boys.* These are all stereotypes, but don't see you moaning about those?*

(Duelling banjos background music):

I'm a-guessin' you ain't from round these parts?

Stick around a bit and you'll find out exactly what the folk here think of them thar stereo-types.

Fraggling · 24/11/2019 15:10

Do they show men with no pubes on aftershave adverts ?

That's going to smart Shock

CFlemingSmith · 24/11/2019 15:08

Curious to see whether the people who find this offensive are also offended by the aftershave/gym adverts with perfectly groomed men who have no hair in sight/perfect body etc?

Fraggling · 24/11/2019 15:01

2 people think op lying

Interesting

Fraggling · 24/11/2019 15:00

Blue cards for boys
Cards about drinking for men
Cards telling girls and women they are bad if they don't remove all the hair from their pubic region

Yep that's the same alright

CFlemingSmith · 24/11/2019 14:58

It's funny...
Along the same lines that cards joking about bald men are funny. The same way there are lots of cards relating to men drinking beer. Cards of women shopping. Cards of men in sheds. Cards of babies crying. Pink cards for girls. Blue cards for boys.

These are all stereotypes, but don't see you moaning about those?

Helmetbymidnight · 24/11/2019 14:26

urgh, its a stupid card for stupid people.

user1480880826 · 24/11/2019 14:24

Why is it funny @Hopingtobeamum?

It’s vile.

CFlemingSmith · 24/11/2019 14:21

Oh for gods sake, i find it funny, and know a few friends who I would buy it for who would find it funny. Just because it's not your sense of humour. Stop looking for things to be so sensitive about

TooLateThePhalarope · 24/11/2019 14:20

I didn't find any of their cards funny. They are aggressive and crude.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 24/11/2019 14:14

Yeah it's not funny. You'd have to seriously contort yourself to find it so.

ExchangedCat · 24/11/2019 13:36

I have no idea why it came up - one reason why I was so shocked. It was on the first page of results. I think I typed 'Letter to Santa' and the other results I got were all kits with two letters/stickers/multiples of Santa paper all for kids and just this in the middle

TooLateThePhalarope · 24/11/2019 13:22

I'm puzzled how searching "letter to Santa" or "Santa Letter" or similar on Amazon brought up this card.

Fraggling · 24/11/2019 13:02

You think op is lying?

TooLateThePhalarope · 24/11/2019 12:51

Just thought. I can think bollocks and move on as I'm an adult

What are children supposed to make of this? Amazon is a site that many parents let kids look through when choosing presents etc

I'm puzzled how the OP found that card on an Amazon or a Google search. I searched "letter to Santa" on Amazon and Google and nothing remotely like this appeared. There were 1000s of results and obviously I can't check all of them but the ones I did check were innocuous letters to Santa

I found the website of the seller searching the description of the card in the OP's picture "alternative awkward christmas cards"

Hirsutefirs · 24/11/2019 12:29

Yes, none of it is fair.

Fraggling · 24/11/2019 12:20

Because some posters on here have said they have seen cards like that for men and others have said let's see them then.

Is it fair that girls and women are strongly encouraged to remove body hair which takes time and money, and to understand that some/ many people will see them as dirty/ not groomed/ bad if they do not.

Men are not under the impression that their pubic hair must be removed from when they are boys in order to meet expected grooming/ cleanliness standards.

In fact it's not healthy to remove pubes they are there for a reason.

Hirsutefirs · 24/11/2019 12:14

Re. equivalent cards about men-

Why look for fairness and balance in bad taste jokes?

Fraggling · 24/11/2019 12:02

Just thought. I can think bollocks and move on as I'm an adult.

What are children supposed to make of this? Amazon is a site that many parents let kids look through when choosing presents etc.

My DD both started puberty at 8.5 so this card will be advising them that it's wrong to have public hair from a very young age. At 10 and 12 they look through Amazon sometimes. No doubt the answer from some posters will be that it's wrong to let children look at Amazon ... Which is getting silly tbh it's a shopping site not a porn site.

I suppose the possible result of going girls possibly sneaking a razor and trying to save their pubes off is something they would be keen on seeing as pubic hair on girls is bad.

They get these messages from enough places ffs do they really need to on a 'letter to Santa' Amazon search?

Hadn't thought of that earlier.

Also waiting for examples of cards telling men that they are disgusting if they have pubic hair.

Hirsutefirs · 24/11/2019 11:54

I think they’ll be delighted to get complaints from feminists.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 24/11/2019 11:50

They are crude and, in my opinion, unfunny, but I really don't think it is about policing the grooming habits of women given the rest of the site content, it's just about being as offensive as possible.

HorseWithNoFucksToGive · 24/11/2019 11:34

I'd like to see examples too.

I'll hold my breath, yeah?

rarelyonatuesday · 24/11/2019 11:02

there is a plethora of similar cards aimed at men
Are there? I'm not seeing them? Have you got any examples.
