@MissLawls defending Women's rights is not hatred. I would suggest that the person stops trying to guilt you into thinking otherwise.

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 16:51

And how dare you suggest that all transwomen are predators

(Which of course you are not, but that is the logic.)

They also say that people used to say that about gay men, which is true. They did. Claimed gay men were predators on young boys. They weren't. Straight men were and are! Same as now. It's straight men are the problem but they don't see that. Or they don't want to see it.

Thanks @MockersthefeMANist

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2019 16:48

Sheffield Hallam look like they have an interesting independent.

Liz Aspden has previous history with Jared O'Mara and doesn't think a lot of his record on women's rights.

She's standing on a woman's rights platform. It looks like she's gender critical but is getting a lot of 'transphobe' shouted at her.

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 16:48

@Datun: MissLawls. You're not inciting hatred, of course. And saying you are is a tactic

Thanks. Horrible to deal with though.

Ask them where is the hatred? Force them to tell you why objecting to predators in female prisons is inciting hatred

I tried. I asked this person to follow me back so we could DM but she blocked me!

They will say you are claiming all trans people are predators. And you just have to ask them, um where? Bat it back

I tried but they refuse to engage. Person has a big Lib Dem banner on their Twitter profile.

Needmoresleep · 14/11/2019 16:40

Birdsdestiny, I wonder.

There is a @SarahBrown1984 on twitter who is claiming to be a LibDem and retweeting stuff from Zoe O'Connell who claims to be too liberal for the LibDems, as well as lots of political stuff. I think that is her.

Perhaps the LibDems are too much fun to stay away from.

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2019 16:37

Greens have stood aside in Chippenham and i think its being regarded as a possible target, but I think its probably unlikely to go yellow.

The LDs were going to stand at least one other trans candidate in Caerphilly. Jasmine Sakura-Rose. But they have stood aside for Plaid there.

Datun · 14/11/2019 16:35

MissLawls. You're not inciting hatred, of course. And saying you are is a tactic.

Ask them where is the hatred? Force them to tell you why objecting to predators in female prisons is inciting hatred.

They will say you are claiming all trans people are predators. And you just have to ask them, um where? Bat it back.

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2019 16:31

Helen Belcher is the LD prospective candidate for Chippenham.

paniquer · 14/11/2019 16:29

@Burru I'd help with that.

birdsdestiny · 14/11/2019 16:22

Sarah brown is no longer in the lib dems. Not sure about Helen Belcher.
There was a bit of an exodus when some Tories defected to the lib dems.

MockersthefeMANist · 14/11/2019 16:21

...How dare you suggest sweet Ms Karen White is not a proper lay-dee.

And how dare you suggest that all transwomen are predators.

(Which of course you are not, but that is the logic.)

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 16:17

This comment I tweeted under the Today programme’s tweet:

Anyone who declares themselves a woman should be treated as a woman by law." Anyone? Convicted rapists, paedophiles? Perverts who want access to young girls in women's changings rooms? Anyone Luciana? If Jimmy Savile was alive would he be allowed to identify as a woman

Just got this response:-

CRIMINALS are criminals. Full stop. You really need to think about your language and logic. I feel my young trans daughter needs protecting from women like you. Imagine you had a young daughter, and random women on the were inciting hatred against her. Please stop

To which I replied:

I'm sorry you feel that way. My concern is purely for the safety of young women and girls from predatory men. Men who will use any means they can to get at their prey which we know they do. I've worked in child protection. I'm deeply hurt you think I am inciting hatred

Help me out here. Where is the hate in my original tweet, where? How am I inciting hatred?

I’m really upset about this. My concern is for young girls being targeted by men abusing self ID. I said nothing about trans.

I’m so fucking fed up of this shit. I’m just a fat Jewish auntie who wants to protect children and I get accused of inciting hatred!? WTAF!?

Needmoresleep · 14/11/2019 15:54

Helen Belcher and Sarah Brown, both LibDem, are prominent members of the Stonewall Trans-advisory board, indeed the only obvious politicos on the board now that LibDem Aimee Challenor has exited.

Perhaps Stonewall is that much closer to the LDs, as a smaller party without the blue collar or blue shire traditional support of either Labour or the Tories, so get to write their policy for them.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 14/11/2019 14:58

It dawns on me that of course the Lib Dems have decided on this policy without even waiting for the outcome of the consultation or suggesting that we should have the results before deciding policy/legislating.

OP posts:
RoyalCorgi · 14/11/2019 14:49

No one could fuck that up. Make your opponents claim that men should be competing against women, and that rapists should be given access to incarcerated women as part of their punishment.

Ha ha ha ha. I mean, that's a brilliant idea and I would love to see it happen. But I can't help remembering it was the Tories who introduced this whole idiotic idea of reforming the GRA in the first place, and when I wrote to my Tory MP about it the reply I received was as woke as if it had come from some blue-haired undergraduate from Goldsmiths.

If they're going to turn it on their opponents, they'll have to rely on people having short memories.

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 14:45

I have also said that I don't want to give my full name as being doxxed by the trans brigade is an experience i could live without

Quite understandable. I don't worry about being doxxed as my whereabouts are very easy to find. Fortunately I live in the kind of place that you'd REALLY have to want to get to if you wished to hunt me down. Never been a problem. Been threatened with reporting me to an employer I don't work for. And even the police once!

My greatest fear isn't doxxing or abuse. It's being hit by a mass report. I haven't broken any rules but that doesn't necessarily save you!

artisanparsnips · 14/11/2019 14:41

@missLawls I've sent my email just now, the more the merrier.

FWIW I have also said that I don't want to give my full name as being doxxed by the trans brigade is an experience i could live without.

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 14:35

And I posted this beneath Nick Robinson's post about it.

Nick are you aware that thanks to this policy which all parties support many women feel politically homeless

That's had 144 likes.

I am definitely for it!

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 14:33

My tweet below the Today programme one thus far has 222 likes and 28 retweets. I also posted this:-

What about women who identify as men? Do they gain male inheritance rights to titles? For entry into male-only clubs such as The Garrick? Members of Masonic lodges? Why is this always couched as men who want to be treated as women, not women who want to be treatead as men by law

Which has had over 100 likes and 12 retweets.

I can't see anything hateful nor threatening about either tweet but the TRAs do love to mass report.

NewNameGuy · 14/11/2019 14:31

Fantastic, just listened to it.
Peak trans.

Q:So I should be tested in law as a woman?
A:Yes
Q:Why?

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 14:30

@artisanparnsips

Shall we all write in and explain what's affecting our votes

Absolutely!

artisanparsnips · 14/11/2019 14:23

On PM on Radio 4 they are asking for people to contact them if they have issues which will affect the way they vote in the election - yesterday it was a woman in her early 60s who's been badly hit by the pension rules changing. Shall we all write in and explain what's affecting our votes?

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 14:21

This is the comment I put under the Radio 4 Today tweet about it. I will probably get banned again as it's bound to have attracted the haterz. Sigh...

Replying to @BBCr4today @lucianaberger

"Anyone who declares themselves a woman should be treated as a woman by law." Anyone? Convicted rapists, paedophiles? Perverts who want access to young girls in women's changings rooms? Anyone Luciana? If Jimmy Savile was alive would he be allowed to identify as a woman?

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2019 14:19

There's research been done on the Clinton loss. They found that more socially Conservative leaning women who otherwise liked her had a problem with the trans issue and it affected their vote.

Trump won in places which were more socially Conservative not just because of the anti establishment feeling but because 'soccer moms' who might have had an affinity with Clinton otherwise were put off by this change which horrified them.

Given Clinton's seeming reversal, I think she is aware of the issue with the militancy and how that hasn't placed well with some moderates.

To characterise the 2016 election as simply a change election isn't fully reflective of the situation.

Some people didn't like either of the two versions of change presented to them.

Which is why it's very similar to the dynamics we have for this election.

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 14:17

I think this could be an opening for the Conservatives who have, after all, kicked self ID into the long grass.

It could be good for them except of course Johnson has such a bad track record with women and that, rightly, puts a lot of women off.

Corbyn is very pro self ID or maybe he just doesn't care all that much. For sure Labour gives off an aroma of a boys' own club which to some extent it always has. Women are welcome so long as they're Corbynites. He likes women so long as they're agreeing with and worshipping him.

Greens are a dead loss.

If we had a Monster Raving Loony party candidate standing here he or she would get my vote.
