Thank fuck Clair’s on the case

I am using Marxian value theory to critique the assumptions of the OECD's "Base Erosion and Profit Shifting" process and to analyse the global corporate tax system more generally. My research focuses on the role played by materially unproductive labour, intellectual property, fiduciary relations and transnational corporate ontology in the shaping of the state-capital relation in twenty-first century capitalism

Is it just me who can’t get an image of a 17th century French aristocrat out of their mind’s eye? I’m going to go all Camille Paglia in a minute and say we’re too decadent to survive

MadamBatty · 18/11/2019 13:13

Is the street violence like the women’s army from the 2 Ronnie...the worm
Has turned?

You’re all of pack of wagons you never even told me about it

LangCleg · 18/11/2019 13:13

Prism?

Um... I was thinking of this morning and another - stricken, then unstricken - thread!

Floisme · 18/11/2019 13:12

Jolyon Maugham Tweeted about Karen White. I found it objectionable.
Sorry for derail and I'm struggling to keep up but.... have I just seen Jolyon Maugham being accused of wrongthink? Shock

Thanks for the thread and the live tweeting. Cake

OvaHere · 18/11/2019 13:12

Ah, of course. Violence by adhesive. As we know, the Battle of Brighton Beach involved mods and rockers violently stickering each other with dictionary definitions.
Grin Grin Grin

OvaHere · 18/11/2019 13:10

I cannot believe they have broken for lunch at such a pivotal moment. PLEASE can someone take up the live tweeting this afternoon?

@PygmyHippoBob any chance you can tweet/update on MN or do you know anyone else there who will be doing so?

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/11/2019 13:10

I noticed that Datun

The perceived issue isn't whether it was untrue, whether harm was caused to others or where responsibility to address it should lie - there is no interest in this part. The perceived issue and injury is the bad PR and insult to feelings.

GrinitchSpinach · 18/11/2019 13:09

Ha, snap Datun. Grin

Is anyone tweeting the afternoon session?

GCAcademic · 18/11/2019 13:09

I think the Sticker Woman division must be the street violence vanguard in the GC movement.

OvaHere · 18/11/2019 13:09

Can't think where we've heard that before. If you don't want your rights movement to be linked with breaches of child safeguarding, ensure your materials are Working Together compliant. If they're not - and they are not - fucking well change them.

Prism?

Butterisbest · 18/11/2019 13:08

OldCrone
How do we know whether these are male women or female women?
This could be a way of referring to men that identify as women

Callmejudith · 18/11/2019 13:08

OvaHere · 18/11/2019 13:08

So, this Street Violence Wing, I’m feeling left out. Is there a uniform? I’m imagining lots of women dressed as Peaky Blinders, either that or head to toe Boden.

It's the Mumsnet scarf isn't it? Scarf by day, weapon by night.

LangCleg · 18/11/2019 13:06

I'll bet you're right and it's the stickers.

I really want Sticker Woman to be the evil violent vigilante!

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/11/2019 13:04

I'll bet you're right and it's the stickers.

Could it really be that they're going to request that a judge, familiar with British law, perceive placing stickers with a dictionary definition of women in public places in protest as street violence in a court full of journalists?

LangCleg · 18/11/2019 13:04

I found it objectionable that trans rights were linked with breaches of child safeguarding.

Datun · 18/11/2019 13:04

and comparing the use of pronouns to date rape

This is the Rohypnol article. I hope to God they are allowed to read it out loud.

I found it objectionable that trans rights were linked with breaches of child safeguarding.

What, like letting 14-year-old boys share facilities with 10-year-old girls without telling their parents, at girl guides?

I really hope all these issues get thoroughly aired.

Many transactivists are under the impression that if they say they object to something, people stop talking about it. But that's actually called terf blocker.

GrinitchSpinach · 18/11/2019 13:03

Oh wow, sounds like Barracker's instaclassic "pronouns are..." post got a (misinterpreted) mention. I do wish someone would read it out in court.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 18/11/2019 13:01

street violence

In this case the definition is
"Lesbians carrying lawn chairs and sitting on them in an intimidating manner. Here is often pizza or copious amounts of tea involved"

CaveMum · 18/11/2019 13:01

Datun · 18/11/2019 12:59

Please, please, please let the street violence be stickers with razor blades behind them. Together with the photo that someone posted of a different person entirely.

HavelockVetinari · 18/11/2019 12:59

I cannot believe y'all have a street violence wing and I never even suspected! Shock

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 18/11/2019 12:59

Has the definition of "street violence" changed?

Perhaps it now means "female who wants to retain her hard won rights to privacy, dignity and body autonomy"?

That's probably it. You monsters.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 18/11/2019 12:59

wildwoman is done for the day

Flowers

thank you

but boo! it's going to run into the new year. I'm gripped. HOW WILL IT END?

and they can't just introduce a character like CQ and shut up shop. Like a PP, I am LITERALLY AGOG

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/11/2019 12:59

Last few tweets before lunch:

RW2 (CQ) - [I don’t know how the witness identifies but D/CQ is male and dresses in feminine clothing ] is called & affirmed, signs witness statement .

RC - para 10, Oct 2018 tweets discussion re non binary participants in conference panels

A discussion among a discreet group of development professionals

RW2 - not credible that MF wasn’t aware of my nonbinary gender identity, my pinned tweet was a gif saying I’m non binary, MF used my correct pronouns in a tweet

My correct pronouns are they/ them. It was 6 tweets of Maya propagating anti trans propaganda, incl. cartoon comparing trans people to flashers, and comparing the use of pronouns to date rape

RC - para 20

RW2 - MF says she was abused by me but I blocked her

Jolyon Maugham Tweeted about Karen White. I found it objectionable.

RC - claim to resigned from panel because of support tweeted by Paul Monaghan. I found it objectionable that trans rights were linked with breaches of child safeguarding.

We break now until after lunch.

(wildwomanwritingclub says she is now done for the day - hope someone else will pick up this afternoon)
