Fresh thread in case part 2 fills up overnight.
I am yet to receive a reply to my third email, have been furiously tweeting, and as am now pursuing the options available to me as a shareholder.
Still crossing fingers for John Lewis!

Scrap that. On my phone the reviews show male and female Angry.

Coatandhat · 07/12/2019 22:52

Holy shit!! Unless it's just my computer, the reviews on M&S have changed format. Now they come up on a sidebar without male or female labels! I can't believe it Grin

SeaRabbit · 07/12/2019 04:46

It's easier than I would have thought to boycott M&S. So much of what I do is on autopilot because I am busy so it's refreshing to be forced to look for new places, and I'm making interesting discoveries. And spending less.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/12/2019 17:55

I was thinking of buying some stuff from family from my den of noncompliant woman evil overseas and having it shipped directly within the UK to save myself the extra postage, but since I'd rather not inadvertently send my auntie soiled knickers I'm happy to pay the extra to avoid that. Was even thinking of treating a broke relative to some of their food for the holidays, will have to come up with an alternate plan.

IsadoraQuagmire · 06/12/2019 17:28

I haven't set foot in there since this broke, I delete all their promotional emails without reading too.

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 06/12/2019 17:25

Still waiting for M&Sleaze to add women’s lingerie to their men’s section - since so many of them are continuing to buy and leave reviews online.
Also waiting for M&Sleaze to use their target market to model women’s underwear. It is rather hateful of them to only use women to sell lingerie to biological males who have no idea what it actually looks like on them - visual rather than literal violence.

Akire · 06/12/2019 17:01

They have indeed. All they have to do is make a third space. I’m Quite happy to be the one to use the third space and leave the women’s up for grabs!

Chrestomanci3 · 06/12/2019 16:56

I've not been into M&S or their Simply Food store since this story broke. I had a reply from them to my first email, but not even an acknowledgment for my second. My family are all aware of this, presents have been bought elsewhere and food will be sourced elsewhere.

WrathofFaeKlop · 06/12/2019 16:47

I was in M&S yesterday, just to observe of course, the lingerie section was unusually quiet.

They've really done a Ratners haven't they?

I just have to mention that those old fashioned dresses that most women don't wear are unlikely to be sold any time soon.

NumbersStation · 06/12/2019 16:27

If mark’s suspenders want to be all inclusive then they really should be doing 10ft adverts of these reviews. Only fair.

Coatandhat · 06/12/2019 16:10

Nor me Akire. My comments to M&S in the text boxes when reporting them are getting ever more irate. I am so angry with them for not reacting to the complaints - unless, of course, no one is monitoring the feedback anyway. I hope that it hasn't been a mistake to draw attention to them and that these male reviewers aren't getting a kick out of the number of thumbs down on the reviews.

Akire · 06/12/2019 15:57

I still don’t get why Marks are happy have these online where a goodnight percentage of people buy and will see. IF they had them enlarged and put in store people would be horrified! Ifs not suitable for shop display it’s not suitable for online either. But hey I don’t have a business degree.

GrandmaMazur · 06/12/2019 15:56

Still boycotting here - would normally splash out and treat ourselves to Christmas lunch from M&S as well as buying Christmas presents and school uniform for DS.

Also boycotting JL and (mostly) Waitrose. Have swapped our regular Ocado delivery to Asda and am trying to use other supermarkets wherever possible but Waitrose is our nearest so it's sometimes tricky

DodoPatrol · 06/12/2019 15:55

As with many of these things, I'd assumed he thought he was being funny.

NumbersStation · 06/12/2019 15:55

Indeed.

I might also say they wash well.

But these curveeee laydeeeees just return them to the shelves unwashed. Or if they are using our changing room for their jollies, back to the shelves in a state other in which they found them.

Quite literally shop soiled. Loverleeee. Hmm

Still boycotting.

Akire · 06/12/2019 15:33

All the Male reviews have totally unnecessary detail

--My wife brought me these suspenders and matching bra ana knickers,to wear after my operation now I feel a sexy lady when I wear them-- the fit is good is what it should say

MissingLesbianSpaces · 06/12/2019 12:02

Perhaps women should demand black lights in the changing room so they can be sure there is no sperm on the clothing they wish to try on?

AllMumsyWereTheBorrowedClothes · 06/12/2019 11:28

Sorry, bit garbled at the end there, basically:- they don't care about women, our safety, or the law. Misogynists & Stonewallers.

AllMumsyWereTheBorrowedClothes · 06/12/2019 11:23

Yes, still boycotting m&s and John Lewis, and telling family not to buy there on my behalf.

I sent them both the daily mail link to this recent court case, got the bounce back reply from [email protected] and no acknowledgement at all from any of the JL board, though they had said they would not engage with me again on the topic, so no surprise there.

I find it harder to avoid waitrose as they are the only shop in my town with free range pork, bacon and sausages, and that also stops me using a car. I've upped my consumption of their free coffees, and when I hit the £10 'free' paper qualification, I always take a Times, got one of their £3 instore magazines free yesterday too. Happy to take what I can, and keeps local people in a job.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7755795/Council-worker-jailed-16-months-secretly-filming-women-showering-downloading-child-porn.html?ito=email_share_article-masthead (sorry, on my phone, can't move it up the post)
which I saw on a FWR thread, particularly highlighting the following:-

The defendant made his own covert movies and would film people in public toilets, in changing rooms, and would follow women and children into shops filming them.

He filmed people going about their daily lives, invading their privacy

So it seems like the absence of concern for safeguarding and women's rights under the Equality Act can continue to be ignored

Coatandhat · 06/12/2019 10:54

Still boycotting and visiting M&S website to report the inappropriate male reviews. This one makes a change from the usual ones for knickers...

ginghamstarfish · 06/12/2019 09:34

Just returning to this thread to say after emailing M&S management several times, only to get the standard useless response, I started pasting my letter into every post on their FB page. No response at all, though a few others have commented. Seems they are stonewalling this, pun intended!

StandUpStraight · 06/12/2019 09:23

Me. Haven’t set foot in there or the Simply Food down the road which usually gets a fair bit of business from us. Also no going to John Lewis or Waitrose, which is where I would do all Christmas shopping and most grocery shopping. Having to be more creative with Christmas presents and also support smaller local businesses for food shopping, neither of which are bad things.

SingingLily · 06/12/2019 08:50

Me. It's a complete swerve. I normally buy food there each week all year as well as do all my Christmas and birthday shopping at M&S. I am, in fact, the archetypal Mrs M&S, but I haven't set foot in there for nearly six weeks.

The TV ads just make me feel so angry.

MrsSnippyPants · 06/12/2019 08:44

And me. I’m off to do a big shopping centre Christmas shop and it would normally be my first port of call. I won’t be setting foot in there.

OP posts:
Cuntysnark · 06/12/2019 08:42

Me. And I’m still hurling abuse at the tv when their adverts come on.
