It's not funny really. She pretended to be nonbinary to people who were genuinely nonbinary. They confided in her on that basis. Now they feel let down.

Oh she was pretending be pretending and not just pretending. Right. Makes perfect sense.

So anyone can claim to be trans or non-binary and access trans and non-binary young people who we are told are especially vulnerable. Doesn't sound very safe does it.

Exactly. When the description of non binary covers almost everyone, elevating the importance of labelling it just appears vacuous and daft.

The point is that everyone is non - binary to some extent. How can we tell who is really non - binary or really trans or really anything? Performance art line this deliberately fudges the boundaries of things to make you consider where they really are. It's only offensive if you think your identity is so special that to even scrutinise it is heresy.

Goldsmiths FA tutors are required to be practising artists, the institution doesn’t object to anyone’s artistic output, they just don’t get hired again the following academic year.

One of my tutors made a massive ball out of packing tape (and went on to win the Turner Prize).

Hmm. I can see the irony and that s/he signalled it 18 months ago and the possible value of it. But if she was a tutor rather than teacher to some fragile people (a) did the university agree (b) at what stage did the students know?
