Oh look, it's those guidelines making no sense whatsoever again!

So, I got an email about a comment in which I said that I wanted to know why genderists keep comparing trans identified males to black women and lesbians being deleted. I think this is absolutely barmy, and have said so to HQ. I'm also baffled as to how this breaks any guidelines and thought perhaps it was time for us as a group to revisit the guidelines and explain once more to MNHQ why they're not working.

What's actually happening here is the the obsessive trans activists who monitor this site are attempting to pick off posters one by one. We lost Orchid last week, and she was just the most recent of many. I'm not sure in MNHQ realize that's happening and welcome it or if it's somehow escaped their notice, but it's a pretty messed up thing for them to be allowing to happen to their users, in my opinion. Are they going to allow this to continue until the only commenters left in this forum are the TRAs who want the entire site shut down?

I know the people who despise the women here would very much like this to all happen under the radar, and that's exactly why I'm not allowing it to play out that way.

Yes, what happened at the weekend wasn’t kind to anybody, least of all the troubled individual who was allowed to troll the people using this site in good faith with impunity

IsadoraQuagmire · 06/11/2019 09:03

I failed Ladylike Behavior 101
Me too, I was never socialized to "be kind" to fools spouting utter crap!Grin

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/11/2019 09:02

If they think that's wise or kind, is what I meant to say. It's not. The thread should have been pulled as soon as it became clear that the OP was a child.

I don't think a teenager has the emotional intelligence to handle a lot of responses disagreeing with their point of view without seeing it as a personal attack and getting upset.

It's a perfect example of how kneejerk deference to anything a person who says they're trans demands is not always the wise or kind action to take. Children need guidance and boundaries. They are not tiny sages who will show us the way forward, they are small humans whose brains have not yet finished developing, and during adolescence they're confused as hell even before you add medication and artificial hormones and grooming via social media to the mix.

If anyone thinks allowing a teenager to run amok on a site full of adults picking fights with people and receiving the inevitable hostile responses then I wouldn't trust that person to parents a goldfish, never mind a child.

Rufus Confused So all the things that we can say on any other board of MN are forbidden on this one! That makes no sense whatsoever. WHY are they allowing themselves to be bullied like this, it's ridiculous! Hmm

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 06/11/2019 08:53

Maybe a handwritten card bearing the message ‘Oh do fuck off dear’ would pass the ladylike test? Or crocheted into a fetching beret?

Of course that would assume MNHQ as an organisation (as opposed to individuals) empathise with long term site content generators. I don’t think that they do particularly

Don’t forget that we’re the product, not the customers. If your product becomes troublesome, maybe you need a different product, right?

FlaviaAlbia · 06/11/2019 08:52

I missed all this. I can't believe Orchid was banned for that. It seems to be wilfully misunderstanding what she said.

And then the poster turned out to be a troll? That's basically a set up.

If what the poster claimed in their second thread was true, I think it was unkind of MNHQ to leave it up. I don't think a teenager has the emotional intelligence to handle a lot of responses disagreeing with their point of view without seeing it as a personal attack and getting upset.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/11/2019 08:47

I have asked if they've considered just not responding to obviously vexatious reports. I'd tell the people in question to piss off, personally, but as we all know I failed Ladylike Behavior 101.

OP posts:
BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 06/11/2019 08:44

Of course MN is not a premoderated site. Only posts that are reported get moderated

But while our self appointed monitors really should consider getting a life and spending their time doing something a little less freaking peculiar, it’s entirely up to MNHQ how they respond to the obsessive reporting

See, I see the obsessive reporting as vexatious behaviour by draining individuals

When dealing with individuals like that it’s generally easier to comply with them and take your frustration out on others who are more compliant and less draining to deal with

Easier but not fair of course

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/11/2019 08:15

If they ban me as a result of insubordination but let Orchid come back then I'll consider that a partial win. It's a relay, pass the baton on to your replacement on the way out...there are more of us than there are of them.

Driechdrizzle · 06/11/2019 08:12

Reinstate the banned posters, starting with Orchid.

Banning someone for using the biscuit is like that Twitter barrister guy going on about ‘provocative misgendering’ aka using correctly sexed pronouns. Provocative biscuiting perhaps.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 06/11/2019 07:47

isadora

It was a bit strange...mumsnet emoji which means ‘no comment’ cannot be used as no comment on one board

And has anybody been told this ? Nope

Wonder if using Brew would be deleted depending how you use it

I bet ‘go well’ would be banned If i used it

There is stuff done all over the site which is frowned on in FWR

I just like a bit of fairness...its crap ‘parenting’ for a parenting site

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/11/2019 07:47

So, expressing sympathy to what one assumes to be a distressed mother - not allowed, delete and ban.

Expressing lack of interest or boredom in what a TRA is saying - delete, possibly a strike, who knows since emails aren't always sent anyway.

Does this seem reasonable to anyone?

OP posts:
RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 06/11/2019 07:40

It was here on FWR

Oh it was on here...i knew I’d seen it

(I might have guessed that it was definitely here, as bless and yawn have also been deleted)

HandsOffMyRights · 06/11/2019 07:21

Lang

I had two deletions previously (in succession) that MN did not email me about. Therefore, if it's three strikes and you're out, I'd have no way of knowing.

That's an easy way to get rid of us. No warning, no opportunity to argue our case, just booted off with the same "Go well" that was reserved for Hayden, when Hayden obtained a court order against this site to obtain the personal details of a female poster on FWR.

IsadoraQuagmire · 05/11/2019 23:53

Rufus that's insane, I had no idea it had actually happened. MNHQ should be ashamed of themselves, frankly Angry

TalkingintheDark · 05/11/2019 23:52

Lang, that is shite.

I see Detroit has had a couple of deletions too.

Sending you love, Detroit - hope you’ve got somewhere safe to stay at the moment.

TalkingintheDark · 05/11/2019 23:48

Whatever is done to control how we speak it will never be enough for those people, because what they want is for us not to be allowed to speak at all.

Another great post from Kittens.

And isn’t this the absolute beginning and end of it.

They don’t want civil debate. They want us silenced, cancelled, excommunicated. They want us not to exist! Which makes it all the more hilarious that their go-to accusation is that we “deny their existence”.

DARVO and projection, projection and DARVO.

TalkingintheDark · 05/11/2019 23:42

I have a legal right to talk about my protected characteristic, sex.
I have a legal right to use the correct, legal, biological terms to do that: 'woman' 'female'
I have the legal right to differentiate myself, using MY PROTECTED CHARACTERISTIC from anyone who does not share it.
That means all men and all boys. All males. That is their protected characteristic, irrespective of how they identify.

I think it's time that MNHQ considered how they would respond to a challenge from women that MNHQ are censoring us for invoking our protected characteristic and using it EXACTLY as we are supposed to. That is, to differentiate ourselves from EVERY MEMBER of the opposite sex.
As is our legally protected right.

Going back a bit but this was an excellent post from Barracker. Why is our “protected characteristic” status glossed over/ignored so roundly? I wrote a gurt big long post and lost it 😖😱 but I think this is so important, it really needs reinforcing.

“Sex” was designated a protected characteristic for a reason, and it bloody well wasn’t because of historical/current oppression of males by females, was it now?

If we as a group that has been recognised in law as being disadvantaged, marginalised, discriminated against on the basis of a particular attribute - if we cannot name our own oppression, cannot come together without the presence of those who do not share our protected characteristic, cannot have spaces and services of our own free from those who have not suffered and do not suffer the same disadvantage, based on being of the female sex - then what was the point of the Equality Act anyway?

Why bother pretending that this anything to do with social justice, if you’re just going to keep on enabling the males - who have always held the balance of power - to keep hold of it; keep making sure that female people are controlled and silenced and kept relatively powerless?

So sick of the lies.

Catmaiden · 05/11/2019 23:30

@LangCleg
Thats not on. That's not OK.

LangCleg · 05/11/2019 23:24

Right. So I've been back through the entire thread - annoying, since I've been on it from the get go - and I have had a post deleted.

What for?

I have no email. (Even checked old emails I've used for the site.)

Was it a strike?

How should I know?

What is the point of linking to guidelines when they're selectively applied?

What is the point of linking to guidelines if you don't tell the person they've been deleted? How are they supposed to know?

It's a ludicrous state of affairs.

Catmaiden · 05/11/2019 23:21

I escaped a coercively controlled marriage. I've done the Freedom Programme and subsequent other WA courses. I recognise coercive control when it slaps me in the face.

@MNHQ, telling me I have to say men are women IS coercive, on your part. Sorry if that upsets you. Making me say men can change sex upsets me, too.

LangCleg · 05/11/2019 23:13

Lang, the Freedom Programme could be of some assistance in this regard, no? Perhaps the mods could partake of said course. Novel idea, I know.

I've suggested this that many times I couldn't count them. Only one response ever: we've had training in coercive control and can all spot it.

So er....

Datun · 05/11/2019 23:12

Excellent post kittens.

Creepster · 05/11/2019 23:07

It is so bizarre for a parenting site to discriminate against women who advocate for women's rights.
