I didn't think it was possible for political discourse to get more divisive and extreme in a civilized society, but Frances Carmel Hoole, who apparently standing for election, tweeted a meme of herself threatening Joanna Cherry with a spray bottle of bleach and the term T*RF.

She has deleted it and is now complaining about the sound condemnation she is receiving on Twitter. I need to get a hammock for my face to help with the continual dropping of my jaw.

I will be very interested to see what happens in this constituency. Surely Labour aren't going to let her stand as a candidate now?!

Justhadathought · 03/11/2019 16:05

*I suspect that is the actual point8

Well, yes! But also Momentum wants to appeal to the young and get a new generation politically motivated. some of my young local Labour councillors are naive in the extreme, and i cannot bring myself to vote for them.

Gone are the days when being a local councillor was something you did when you were older, wiser and more experienced; as a way to give something back ti the community in the form of public service.

MockersthefeMANist · 03/11/2019 14:42

Oh yes, we have a Momentum Midwich Cuckoo standing in my constituency. She has a Facebook page with selfies of herself skateboarding: "I wasn't interested in politics til I heard Jeremy Corbyn...."

ScrimshawTheSecond · 03/11/2019 14:25

Oh. My optimism that the lad was just misguided was misplaced. How depressingly predictable.

GCAcademic · 03/11/2019 14:03

Labour/Momentum are fielding ever younger candidates in local councils. These candidates have not got any clue, however, in anything other than following Momentum ideology

I suspect that is the actual point.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 03/11/2019 10:59

I think it will have to be more ballot spoiling

If you do this remember to state the reason.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 03/11/2019 10:58

This country is seriously being damaged by children.

And actual children are being damaged by the country.

Justhadathought · 03/11/2019 10:58

day to day basis

Justhadathought · 03/11/2019 10:57

She’s a 22 year old numpty, Pthagonal smile Yes, she really is that naive! Totally unsuited as a candidate in grown up politics, but that goes without saying

Labour/Momentum are fielding ever younger candidates in local councils. These candidates have not got any clue, however, in anything other than following Momentum ideology. No real interest in, or awareness of what being a local councillor really involves on a day to basis. Don't respond to emails. live their lives on social media.

I want to, but cannot vote Labour again. Including in the up-coming election. Can't vote for the Liberals, either...so I think it will have to be more ballot spoiling.

Datun · 03/11/2019 10:55

For goodness sake, a parliamentary candidate sends a meme to Joanna Cherry, that she has copied from someone who is utterly insane and hates everyone.

This country is seriously being damaged by children.

Justhadathought · 03/11/2019 10:49

I bet she lives on twitter and only speaks to wokesters in RL. That kind of bubble would certainly lull you into thinking approving of threats against female MPs was just a bit of a larf

Twitter and Facebook......

I cannot believe she benefitted from a memorial fund to Jo Cox.

Is she completely without awareness and intellect, or shame?

zebrasdontwearbras · 03/11/2019 10:39

Well, what an absolute shock to see Mr irc abusing "terfs" today is the very same person who abused trans people just a few short years ago Shock

It's not the first time. Just another abusive man.

terfsandwich · 03/11/2019 10:35

He's really bad at photoshopping! How embarrassing.

Karabair · 03/11/2019 10:32

Those tweets are horrifying. Something very, very wrong with that person.

Ereshkigal · 03/11/2019 10:17

Textbook really, isn't it?

Female candidate posts meme threatening Joanna Cherry with bleach.
ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 03/11/2019 09:58

Ah I love it when we get to have that discussion about what 'petard' really means in French...

Ereshkigal · 03/11/2019 09:19

I think he thinks there's no such thing as bad publicity.

If he does, he's very wrong:

Goosefoot · 02/11/2019 23:19

There are too many people, mostly men but yes some women, who are internalising this sort of hate ready to spew out at the next person who disagrees with them.

I am sorry to say that I have not seen this to be the case. My sense is that the woke and thought police are as least as likely to be women.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 02/11/2019 21:49

I think he thinks there's no such thing as bad publicity.

He's very wrong. That meme has done a lot of damage to this candidate, to the LP and to the TRA cause.

AND it's shite.

Siameasy · 02/11/2019 20:49

What a saddo that penguin bloke is. Looks like a total embarrassment.

I remember in the 90s whilst living in Lewisham I became very aware of left wing politics and was impressed with how nice lefties were etc etc (ok was very young and naive) but now I just see anger, aggression, intolerance “the fascist left”..totalitarianism.

When I used to comment a lot on FB about GC topics I got a fair bit of abuse. I’d always study the profiles of the abusive people. 95% were female and 100% were lefties.

motorcyclenumptiness · 02/11/2019 14:02

Why are all these "woke" people so intolerant?!
That made me think of this Titania McGrath tweet:
Be sure to put your pronouns in your bio.
That way, when you’re calling your opponents evil lowlife scumbags, trying to get them fired, or gloating if they die, everyone will know that you’re actually incredibly compassionate.

Onceafrog · 02/11/2019 13:37

I live there. I look forward to giving Joanna Cherry my support if I see her out campaigning. I probably wouldn't bother trying to engage with Hoole in case she sprayed me with something (metaphorically and hilariously speaking, of course).

Oakmaiden · 02/11/2019 13:25

“The conclusion has been that he was an idiot, not a terrorist.”
An ideal candidate for political office, then.

zebrasdontwearbras · 02/11/2019 13:09

"Terf" - this is what men mean when they call us "terf". Just violence against women and as old as the hills.

zebrasdontwearbras · 02/11/2019 13:05

And Ian, just so you know, doing charitable fun runs doesn't get you off the hook either. See: David Challenor.
