She sounds terrified and desperately repentant, like someone who has strayed outside a cult and is frightened of the consequences.

TERFs aren’t feminists. Or rather, they are, but only in the same way that the Westboro Baptist Church are Christians – they’re using it as a front for their bigotry and don’t care who they hurt.

I was kicking myself that I didn’t know. I already knew about SWERFs. I didn’t know that TERFs and SWERFs went hand in hand. And I hadn’t looked into SWERFery as I didn’t want to know.

I still don’t quite understand how I got sucked in, even temporarily. My mental state aside, I guess it’s what I have coined “ingrained transphobia.”

It reminds me a bit of when the actress Debra Messing posted some vulva cupcakes on International Women's Day and got piled on because it excluded 'women who don't have vaginas' ie Men. Her response?

But I guess that’s not “hate” because it is “self defense”?

Oh yeah I saw that. I bet it has something to do with being told literally daily by TRAs that you are disgusting scum who belongs in the bin, less than human, trash, fascist, neo-nazi etc. I work in a job where my own colleagues regularly say stuff like that. They don’t know my views because I darent tell them but yeah it gets depressing being told that, even if you know deep down you’re right.

Not sure why it caused her such trauma though. I have not ever felt traumatised reading realist, radical feminist arguments based on material reality and committed to getting rid of gendered stereotypes.

I was looking for her rebuttal of GC ideas, but all she's got is 'terfs are evil and mystical gender essences are real. Also, swerfs are evil even though I don't know what they believe in'.

I find it so strange, and kind of sad, that women will fall over themselves in this way to centre males in their feminism and publicly self flagellate if they dare to stray away from doing this.

It's about sidling up to whoever is the most popular girl in the room. TERFs and SWERFs aren't popular so she now has to recant her heresy.
