According to The Times JustGiving have suspended the website for the new LGB Alliance.

Why??? What can be done to address this?

It was GoFundMe that would not allow a fundraiser for Murray, the Aberdonian schoolboy who was expelled for insisting there were only two genders. (The YouTuber who caused the video to go viral wanted to help Murray find alternative education.)

Crowd Justice seems to work for legal cases, but who else can be relied on?

'We do not discrimate'
Can I have a LOL please?

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2019 13:04

In the long run this malicious attack shines a spotlight on why the LGB alliance is needed. The increased publicity once the justgiving page reopens for donations will result in many more people hearing about the initiative, and happily dipping into their pockets to show support.

Exactly. And they never, ever learn.

MrsFogi · 28/10/2019 22:44

I just went on to donate and it was inactive.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 28/10/2019 21:51

So far as I can see it is still inactive.

Lumene · 28/10/2019 21:47

Great news, thanks for updating.

Fantastic.

TargaryenDragon · 28/10/2019 19:13

Just giving appears to have reinstated the fund raising

Exactly. A straight forward demonstration.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 28/10/2019 15:26

The other thing is, it's useful to get this over now rather than at the official launch in January.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 28/10/2019 15:21

The justgiving page reached £3,490 of their £25,000 target in the less than 24hrs it was active. There is obviously a lot of damned up public support for lesbians, gays and bisexuals.

Although homophobic mass reporting managed to trigger a temporary shut down over the weekend, it won't take long for justgiving to investigate, and any investigation will inevitably result in them dismissing the reports as unfounded homophobic abuse.

"Current trend seems to be to stop using 'transphobic' because its use was becoming obviously ridiculous, and instead say 'hate'."

'Hate' is easier to spell.

HumberHellraiser · 28/10/2019 13:55

I’m confident this funding page will be reinstated. Some TRA’s, presumably using some threat of hate crime nonsense, will have targeted it with much outrage and froth. All sound and fury that will result in no actual substance. As per usual.

Well again, that's not going to work on a site like this. Oh my God I hate you, is universally recognised by mothers as a tantrum

If only Mumsnetters were paid to do police training....

Butterisbest · 27/10/2019 17:57

🤣🤣👏👏

Slightaggrandising · 27/10/2019 17:02

Reported @reginafelangee for homophobia

Usually as a result of boundary enforcement, of course.

Datun · 27/10/2019 16:45

Look at the LGB Alliance's twitter feed. It's pretty clear it's a hate organisation.

You do realise, don't you Regina, that hate groups have to comply to a specific set of criteria to be considered such?

This is just a wild stab in the dark, but setting up an advocacy group for gay, lesbian and bisexual people, given that their sexual orientation is a protected characteristic under law, doesn't quite meet the bar.

I'm really getting sick of this 'OMG hate playground nonsense. If you have to write your opinion down, at least make it something that you actually understand.

TemporaryPermanent · 27/10/2019 16:43

Current trend seems to be to stop using 'transphobic' because its use was becoming obviously ridiculous, and instead say 'hate'. Equally without any attempt to explain or analyse, just stating that x is a hate group, y is a hate sticker, z is hate speech. In particular, any attempt to imply or state disagreement with the statement 'transwomen are women, transmen are men' will be labelled as hate speech. Because without that statement, the entire case for all of the regulatory capture, the case for opposite sex access to sex defined spaces, and in particular the case for transition or medicalisation of children, is exposed as being insubstantial and illogical.

BarbaraStrozzi · 27/10/2019 16:39

Why are you asking questions of reginafelangee? Like all TRAs they cannot debate or justify their stance. They are here to tell you to STFU and scream 'transphobia' at everything.

For the lurkers, Apollo, for the lurkers.

Every time you ask a pertinent, well argued question, supported by evidence, and the response comes back "you're all hateful bigots, flounce," another lurker thinks "okay, so I've always wanted to be kind and open minded, and I still am all those things, but I begin to see why these people I thought were just crazy extreme feminists might actually have a point on this one. And maybe they're not the ones who're extreme, and maybe they're not the ones who're hateful."

DaveMyHat · 27/10/2019 16:36

If some LGB people did not feel that Stonewall etc were recognising or listening to their needs/concerns as LGB people, then I don't see what's wrong with them making their own group to accommodate their needs. Stonewall still exists and any LGBT people who feel like it represents them can continue to stand behind it.
