It increasingly feels like we should treat witch hunts against individual women as attacks on women as a class.

I thought women here might appreciate a thread to show their support for Allison. I don't know her personally, but I believe in all women's right to free speech.

I stand with Alison.

If you have a moment, please report the petition for being abusive on the grounds of harassment. If you scroll down the page, it says ‘policy violations’ or something. It’s pathetic to begin with and not even the TRAs seem to have any interest in it but it is plainly targeted harassment and shouldn’t be allowed to stand.

TemporaryPermanent · 28/10/2019 07:27

Um she's self employed and a member of the Chambers, not 'employed' by a 'law firm'. What a nonsensical petition.

Pota2 · 28/10/2019 05:48

I see one of them has started a petition asking for Allison to be fired:

www.change.org/p/garden-court-chambers-trans-rights-are-human-rights

Thankfully almost nobody has signed it but the entitlement in that statement is astounding. Imagine being so self absorbed that you think you have the right to demand how others run their business and who they employ.

FemaleEcho · 28/10/2019 01:19

I stand with Allison

I'm going to send her a card tomorrow.

sashh · 28/10/2019 00:53

Woko haram can gurn themselves into human prunes for all I care.

Should be on a T shirt.

Bluerussian · 28/10/2019 00:46

I stand with her too.

holdmybutterbeer · 28/10/2019 00:40

Looks like GI has taken down that thread linked below?

ChipOnMyOvary · 28/10/2019 00:11

Yes that's what mrs fogi suggested

Inebriati · 28/10/2019 00:07

Can't Garden Court be reported to the Bar Standards Board? I mean, Alison is supporting the current law. And she has a protected characteristic.

ChipOnMyOvary · 28/10/2019 00:00

Allison Bailey has a place in history!

ChipOnMyOvary · 27/10/2019 23:56

I think this is huge and possibly game changing. That is how enormous Allison's courage is. Thank you Allison from the bottom of my heart.x

ChipOnMyOvary · 27/10/2019 23:53

Thanks mrsfogi that is exactly the type of address which we really need as it is clear that Allison's "colleagues" are closing ranks or something.

It has to be referred up.

blondie1412 · 27/10/2019 23:50

owen jones is an arsehole and should fuck off...……...

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 27/10/2019 23:43

Thanks for the link to TouchNote, I used it to send a card to Allison to show support and thank her for giving me hope in very dark times.

I used the second free card to send a copy to myself, if the quality of the card is up to snuff I'll keep the subscription. I have a suspicion there will be more cards that need sending next year.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 27/10/2019 22:35

I stand with Allison Nd I’ll send her a card too

Doryhunky · 27/10/2019 21:52

I stand with Allison.

teawamutu · 27/10/2019 21:14

Always find that name (GI) particularly inapt.

Karabair · 27/10/2019 20:54

Gendered Intelligence the trans charity are asking people to write to Garden Court to complain about Alison Bailey:

twitter.com/Genderintell/status/1188082429686407169

We would encourage everyone to write a letter of to GCC expressing your concern about the barrister in question and the new group.

Their bio reads:

"National trans-led charity improving the lives of transgender, including non-binary, people in the UK.We specialise in supporting young trans people aged 8-24."

Weird how they can have a charity that focuses on trans and non-binary, but lesbian, gay and bisexual people aren't allowed to organise for their own interests.

Also, check out that age-range.

MrsFogi · 27/10/2019 20:43

Perhaps I misread it - I understood Garden Court was considering referring the issue to the BSB?

MrsFogi · 27/10/2019 20:42

Email for Bar Standards Board: [email protected]

Zeldetta · 27/10/2019 20:41

I don’t think she’s been reported to the Bar Standards Board has she?

MrsFogi · 27/10/2019 20:40

I suggest people also write to the Bar Standards Board:

Rt Hon the Baroness Tessa Blackstone
Bar Standards Board
289-293 High Holborn
London
WC1V 7HZ

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 27/10/2019 20:34

I have just signed up to Touchnote and sent Allison a postcard thanking her for her bravery. The bullying is appalling and designed to scare women into silence.

FadingStar · 27/10/2019 20:29

Does anyone else think this is the dying kick?

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 27/10/2019 20:03

She's brave & I have a shed load of respect for her. Owen Jones is a bully.
