I respect Ben’s identity as a man but the fact he has a need for these products just shows you can’t identify out of female biology.

Michelleoftheresistance · 20/10/2019 11:55

It's never 'please add something for us too' it's always 'take that AWAY from women to give to us'. Tells you all you need to know: this isn't about inclusion, it's about competitive erasure.

Always, I'm devastated. I've shared your 'throw like a girl' campaign and stood behind the really important message it shares. And now you've jumped straight from empowering female born people to what...? Throw like a …… person? So we can't see the whole POINT of that campaign which was as soon as the word 'woman' gets used, sexism cuts in and people born female are disadvantaged? That silly outdated gender stereotypes damage people born female?

Always for men.

Yes, everything, always, ALWAYS, is for men. Whether born that way or identifying that way, male always trumps women. You utter sexist muppets.

Heyheythey · 20/10/2019 11:53

Just to point out it’s a Female sign not a Feminine sign. The connotation of the use of ‘feminine’ in the original article suggested that it was just a decorative motif like a flower, or a fluffy kitten. But no, it’s a sign that indicates it’s a product for use by Females. Pretty superfluous in and of itself. But it’s the fact that it’s been removed to stop offending menstruating females who don’t want to be labelled as menstruating females but menstruating men.

Pandaintheporridge · 20/10/2019 11:50

Coolcarrie could you share that response?

ThreeLittleDinos · 20/10/2019 11:48

The only person I knew who has had it done, said it also stopped periods. I've never looked into it and assumed it was true. If it isn't, then okay, not an option to stop periods.

CoolCarrie · 20/10/2019 11:47

I emailed Always yesterday and received a response that they had no plans to remove the logo from their packaging at all.

Sleepyhead19 · 20/10/2019 11:47

Sorry but trans men don’t want periods, so what the hell does a logo matter to them? Or do they want it both ways? I’m confused... as it seems they are!!! I identify as a woman, I was born female, I have periods and I am offended that people identifying as the opposite sex are trying to disguise my femininity. All this rubbish is really annoying me now. Everything is changing for a minority who appear to now have power over everything!

TequilaPilates · 20/10/2019 11:46

Or if they don't want to take hormones, they can have their tubes tied.

Erm, do you understand how the female body works? Having your "tubes tied" doesn't stop periods, it stops you from getting pregnant.

Quaffy · 20/10/2019 11:43

ernestjones

I am so sorry. Sending you lots of love. No male will ever experience what you are currently suffering and that needs to be recognised Flowers

Female biology is absolutely central to the experience of being a woman for so many. All love to trans people but I firmly believe that we should not minimise the central role it plays.

PJsatMidday · 20/10/2019 11:41

@ErnestJones Flowers So sorry you are going through this.

I went through an awful miscarriage too, 13 years ago. The blood and the pain, god I would not wish that on anyone and it makes me so angry that this is apparently a "Cis" privilege I am not supposed to talk about while men can post about sticking Tampax up their arses an d claiming they are having their period.

Pandaintheporridge · 20/10/2019 11:38

Flowers Ernest

ThreeLittleDinos · 20/10/2019 11:36

@CanaryBlossom Because women are no longer allowed to discuss women's rights, safety or what it means to be a women. Or we risk offending those who are taking those things away.

I suspect Mumsnet is anti-feminist now. I'm waiting for my comments to be deleted, or the entire thread. Maybe I'll be blocked before I decide enough is enough and I'll boycott Mumsnet. Or prove me wrong Mumsnet and cut it out, start a 21st century suffragettes forum. Turn down anti-women advertisers. Taking whatever you can get doesn't reflect well to us or advertisers.

PJsatMidday · 20/10/2019 11:35

Obvs P&G are a massive corporation, but they rely on the spending choices of women who do the vast majority of the shit work for which their products are designed. Switch to eco pads, go back to using vinegar to clean surfaces (much more effective than most products) or use Cover/Method/Faith in Nature products.

Women need to stop cooperating with this shit.

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 20/10/2019 11:34

Where does it stop? Looking at their UK website, "feminine products", "advice for women", "mums and daughters", "hey girls, shall we chat?", "helping girls across the world". All their pictures are of "girls and women".

Are they going to erase their whole set-up and start again? Perhaps just substitute "people" for any female identifying word. I am the most tolerant of all "peoples", my DD's are very, very, tolerant, but we are all pretty pissed off by this, I think because it is just such a small issue, that has been made into such a big one.

ErnestJones · 20/10/2019 11:32

I might be banned for this. This post might be deleted.

But I am in hospital and am going through a prolongued and messy miscarriage and have gone through about 60 pads in 2 weeks. As the doctor was doing unmentionable things to me after other unmentionable things, all I could think of was “Bring it on mate. When you have a period, when you give birth, when you have a miscarriage, when you have to go through all the bloody, yes, bloody stuff that women have to go through, then bring it on. I challenge you. Because only then will I call you a woman.”

That nursery stuff is shocking.

CactusAndCacti · 20/10/2019 11:30

I posted this elsewhere but I think the thread has been zapped

Surely they are just rebanding the packaging, as companies do from time to time, rather than as a direct result, they are then just getting the brownie points off the back of it.

I don't use always ST though do have their incontinence products, which just have flowers.

PJsatMidday · 20/10/2019 11:29

This is Procter & Gamble's registered office in the UK:

The Heights, Brooklands, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 0XP

I suggest we all send back any pads we have bought, with a brief note along the lines of, "Won't be buying any more of your products, enjoy your corporate erasure, hugs from an Adult Human Female x"

CanaryBlossom · 20/10/2019 11:26

I’m really baffled as to why MN are pulling these threads.

Loads of threads are started every day, on various subjects, where the facts are unconfirmed, but MN are pulling this particular subject off the boards ConfusedHmm

Why?

ThreeLittleDinos · 20/10/2019 11:21

It doesn't matter if it came from a transman. They can take hormones to stop them. Or if they don't want to take hormones, they can have their tubes tied. Never heard of them, but presumably they're on hormones to grow facial hair etc anyway? They're choosing not too and choosing too hang on to it. They chose to hang on to that womanly monthly cycle, they'll just have to accept there's nothing masculine about a period.

PJsatMidday · 20/10/2019 11:21

That's because the Facebook page for Always belongs to Always. They are not sponsoring themselves. MN is putting a sponsor (or potential sponsor) ahead of its users.

slipperywhensparticus · 20/10/2019 11:19

I do get slightly confused by the trans/woman/man thing you never really hear much of trans men....until now

slipperywhensparticus · 20/10/2019 11:17

I'm surprised mumsnet is shutting us down if you look on the Facebook page for always someone has posted it requesting a response always have not deleted it they haven't replied but it's still standing

Hoppinggreen · 20/10/2019 11:10

Tequila my point exactly

So - a Trans woman stamps their feet and a multi million pound brand capitulates?

It wasn't a transwoman though, it was a transman.
