Can we take a moment to appreciate Piers Morgan

If anyone watches GMB, you will see that Piers Morgan is trying to advocate for women by challenging trans issues - in sport and awards ceremonies etc.

There is a petition to have him fired for being 'transphobic' yet he is quite courageous is saying he is not in agreement about the rights of transitioners to go into sport, to cancel the female category at awards ceremonies.

Although he seems a bit conflicting about how he actually deals with trans people in general, I for one, appreciate his courage to continue to talk about these issues. Especially on such a big platform.

As you know, the majority, if not all, male rapists who say they are women are not in a female prison.

As you know, about half of males who say they are women and are in women's prisons are sex offenders or Category A most seriously violent.

As you know, some of the males who say they are women and are in women's prisons are in women's prisons with mother and baby units.

As you know, about half of the male sex offenders treated with chemical castration - including those convicted for possession of child rape material - have gone on to transition and are eligible to apply to be moved to a women's prison, including those with mother and baby units.

It really is a bit "there's only one shark in the swimming pool so no worries".

Ninkaninus · 16/10/2019 16:58

Yes it’s a fucking scandal. Horrific. And no, I don’t really give a fuck about the ‘vast majority’ and ‘statistical likelihood’. There shouldn’t be even ONE violent, rapist male in any female prison. Ever.

Further, there shouldn’t be any man in any female prison. Ever.

Datun · 16/10/2019 16:58

I'm mean genuinely I have to pinch myself sometimes. I cannot believe that in 2019, we are sending male sex offenders to a female prison, because they say some magic words.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 16/10/2019 16:55

"Allowed" may be the applicable word for the high risk trans prisoners but I think "forced" would be more appropriate for the female ones. That's the thing about prison, you can't just opt out of things.

Datun · 16/10/2019 16:52

The MOJ has since confirmed that high risk transgender prisoners are allowed to mix with female inmates during communal activities such as fitness sessions, library and chapel visits, while being supervised by a prison officer.

Ugh, can you imagine? A lick of the lips, some finger signs, a menacing stare raking her from top to bottom, accompanied by a spot of self crotch grabbing.

It's a fucking scandal. Absolutely horrific.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 16/10/2019 16:48

I love when people say "as you know" and follow it up with something that no, in fact, people do not know. I mean, I'd be delighted if it was true but some proof would be nice.

Datun · 16/10/2019 16:46

As you know, the majority, if not all, male rapists who say they are women are not in a female prison.

I didn't know that. Where do you get that from?

Despite initial assurances by the MOJ that “three transgender prisoners with gender recognition certificates would initially be housed in the new wing and “would not have access to other offenders at the prison” we have now discovered this to be untrue.

Or not not in a female wing of a prison.

SingingLily · 16/10/2019 16:32

Er no. A man pretending to be a woman who rapes and sexually assaults women and is put in a female prison with women.

Clearly a concern to the Prison Service, however belatedly.

In March this year, it announced that a special separate wing for transgender prisoners will be opened at HMP Downview. Initially it will hold only three prisoners with GRCs but those three will not be allowed to come into contact with women prisoners. Precisely because they are such a danger to women.

RoyalCorgi · 16/10/2019 15:42

And I can't imagine why Piers didn't do it.

Possibly because he's not that good an interviewer. He's much more interesting in telling everyone what he thinks rather than asking the killer question. I'd love to see Benjamin interviewed by Eddie Mair, who would make mincemeat of him.

Datun · 16/10/2019 15:07

Would’ve liked to see BB get really grilled on what is an acceptable gender to identify as. If a two spirit penguin is off the table, what about spacegender, angeligender or one of the various ones that relate to fictional characters or otherkin types?

Same here. And I can't imagine why Piers didn't do it. Unless that was a condition of the chap going on - refusal to discuss individual genders.

Because you could take down the entire issue in about three seconds by doing just that.

Datun · 16/10/2019 15:05

Er no. A man pretending to be a woman who rapes and sexually assaults women and is put in a female prison with women.

Er, how do you stop every single rapist saying they are trans and being put in a female prison?

Fieldofgreycorn · 16/10/2019 14:54

What's statistically rare? A male rapist?

Er no. A man pretending to be a woman who rapes and sexually assaults women and is put in a female prison with women.

Sagradafamiliar · 16/10/2019 12:53

He always give it large on TV and Twitter on issues he thinks are controversial, he prides himself on being contrary.
I don't believe women's issues are close to his heart at all.
His personal life gives a more true representation of what he's really like: Donald Trump's bff.

TirisfalPumpkin · 16/10/2019 08:54

I think he’s a populist. He says right wing things if he thinks they’re going to land well, ditto left wing things. His overall position is probably something like ‘outraged centrist’.

If a two spirit penguin is off the table, what about spacegender, angeligender or one of the various ones that relate to fictional characters or otherkin types? Where do you draw the line? Or is BB just a gatekeeping exclusionary penguinphobe?

Generally I think PM has done things in the past indicative of a lack of ethics and journalistic integrity. That has no bearing on whether he’s allowed to have an opinion and voice it. It’s not 1984.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 16/10/2019 08:20

RE his recent interviews, maybe he's hit peak trans in the way so many others have. It really is one of those things where once you admit that maybe there are some issues you just keep seeing more and more of them.

Beansandcoffee · 16/10/2019 08:17

I’ve just signed it. He is a pig but we need people to start a debate about this issue and he isn’t afraid to tackle these subjects, unlike the majority of our MPs.

Needmoresleep · 16/10/2019 08:07

Some of these personal attacks on Morgan are similar to attacks prominent GC women get, presumably because he is dares critise the gender lobby.

FWIW if gender is a spectrum, which is what Mermaids teach, there will be an infinite number of genders. Sex is binary so there are two.

HandsOffMyRights · 16/10/2019 07:09

Piers did a sterling job of exposing the hypocrisy of the gender lobby in his interview with Benjamjn yesterday.

moveitorloseit · 16/10/2019 07:03

He's just an attention seeker who says things to get a reaction. He reminds me of Katie Hopkins. Deliberately says things that are supposed to be 'shocking' but they're not because you know he's being like that for the reaction/publicity.

FadingStar · 16/10/2019 06:57

Just heard him challenge that knobber who comes on to talk about Brexit when he accused Kevin Maguire of 'squealing like a girl'. Morgan asked what's the difference in the squealing of a boy and a girl and that men and boys squeal too...wonders never cease!

Fatshedra · 16/10/2019 06:51

He recently had an interview with Douglas Murray, author of the Madness of Crowds.
The book is very interesting and flags up some of the idiocies of Identity Politics. The youtube video of the interview doesn't show much being said by Murray as the other interviewee who is black and female dominates the conversation but the book is spot on imv and could change minds, or if not change minds at least give on opportunity for interviewers to air these things as they are covered in the book.

one of many interviews on youtube.
Creepster · 16/10/2019 06:38

I think it interesting that women are encouraged to praise men every time one of them takes a position against stripping us of all our rights no matter how cheerfully they would strip us of most of them.
