Genital preferences

It really bloody rips my knitting when I read comments about genital preferences.

Being heterosexual or homosexual isn’t about genital preferences, it’s a SEXUAL preference.

As in the sex of people you are attracted to.

I know I’m probably preaching to the choir but it’s just another attempt to muddy the language.

Respect to any woman who prefers her own sex, I can only speak from my own experience! I'd be interested to know the lesbian perspective.

The thing for me about preferring the real male body is - it fits.

Slim hips, narrow pelvis and flat stomach mean a better fit without uncomfortable pressure on hips, or pressing down on diaphragm (the breathing sort). Big shoulders, biceps and thighs mean stamina, plus ability not to flob down and crush before, during and after. It's all rather harmonious.

The entire body is sexed from molecular levels. A biologist, chemist, osteoarchaeologist etc would KNOW a body was male or female.

So it's not 'genital preference' - it's a holistic opposite otherness that attracts and intrigues.

A superficial surface illusion of maleness does not have that visceral oomph that, say, Jason Momoa ... and I think I'll stop there ...

OhHolyJesus · 13/10/2019 09:52

Taking this slightly out of context but I think it shows the dangers of this 'preference' business.

A FB post from a friend:

Watching Surviving R Kelly and his older brother says his brother just had a preference for “younger women”.

Fuck off you paedophile apologist you are sick and you and your evil sibling should be in prison.

Sexnotgender · 13/10/2019 08:26

But I do like openness to love and attraction and new experiences. And speaking as someone who gets referred to as having a 'Male brain' just because I like sex so much, I think most quick categorisation of people along sex lines is limiting.

In which case you’d be bisexual?

As you’re open to dating either sex. Apologies if I’ve misinterpreted your post.

The genitals have been the last thing I saw in anyone I’ve ever fancied (and often I’ve still never seen ‘em) yet I’ve still managed to be attracted to people who ( and I confess this is just an assumption on my part) all have penises.

BarbaraStrozzi · 13/10/2019 07:43

Makes me yearn for proper philosophy in schools (not pomo McK type "tell a big enough lie with a straight enough face and people will be so confused they don't actually stop you" fake philosophy).

It's the difference between necessary and sufficient conditions.

For me as a straight woman, a prospective partner having a penis is a necessary condition for me.

But of course on its own having a penis isn't a sufficient condition. I also want all the other physical attributes (broad shoulders, narrow hips, deeper voice, preferably muscular sinewy forearms - I have a big thing for forearms) plus personality traits like kindness, intelligence, enthusiasm for life, ability to see other people's perspectives, shared values. Oh and preparedness to clean the toilet. Wink

But a woman could have these features and I wouldn't want to have sex with her - because no penis. Necessary condition.

TemporaryPermanent · 13/10/2019 07:23

I'm going to say that sexuality can be a lot more fluid than I used to think. Having discovered women sexually for the first time.

Radical feminism is of course about the liberation of women, not about the insistence that men and women are identical. But in fact liberal feminism doesn't usually say there are no differences in male and female, just that the differences are much more about socialisation than we allow for. Brains are plastic and develop according to experiences.

Do I think castigating people for 'genital preferences' is homophobic? Yes. But I do like openness to love and attraction and new experiences. And speaking as someone who gets referred to as having a 'Male brain' just because I like sex so much, I think most quick categorisation of people along sex lines is limiting.

Blimey, I'll be twitter friends with Rmck soon.

Sexnotgender · 13/10/2019 07:02

My sexual preference isn’t about genitals, it’s about the sex of the person as a whole.
I’m heterosexual and am attracted to MALE people. I didn’t see my husband and think ooh what a lovely penis he must have.

I think they want lesbians to state that yes, they like women's genitalia. Then it's easy for them to insist they love 'neo-vaginas' if it's just the shape of the flesh that's the issue. Then when they say it's actually not about the shape of it, BOOM! It's time to accept penises.

DickKerrLadies · 13/10/2019 06:46

I would have thought they'd want to avoid any Emperor's New Clothes references.

OneEndedStick · 13/10/2019 06:30

That "Feminists Against Transphobia" graphic is a bit chilling. Check how they've drawn 'the cis' ; Boring little grey suit normies who look dumb and confused [Clearly they need to go educate themselves], and in fear and awe as they witness the arrival of their new GenderQueer Gods'.

Of course the artist places the Golden Shenis up front and centre, as if leading the GQG squad. [Ah...so that's why they showed up without clothes - To be sure we can see the leader, Big Ma'am, isn't a problematic uterus-haver, so the artist doesn't get terfed and cancelled] If this artwork has a title, a fiver says it's something like "The Future Is Trans/Queer. Get over it!".

But there's no grandiose narcissism here. Nope. I mean, just because it looks inspired by totalitarian propaganda and Sunday school picture books ...

Anyone else suspect 'the cis' look scared because the 500ft giants looming over them are bollock-naked and chanting "WE JUST NEED TO PEE, WE JUST NEED TO PEE" ?

MagneticSingularity · 12/10/2019 23:18

It is more misunderstanding of basic biology from the biology deniers. They don't understand that it is whole bodies that are sexed, not just genitals.Silly fools.

Actually I don’t think many TRAs misunderstand basic biology at all, I believe they absolutely do understand it. It’s because they also understand the implications for trans ideology when looked at through the lens of actual science that they need to deny it.

Toorahtoorahaye · 12/10/2019 23:15

Genitals are like a box of chocolates - you just don’t know what you are going to get

Soooannoyed · 12/10/2019 23:08

I am against having sex with anyone who is not my husband, so I guess I am transphobic, heterophobic and homephobic.

Voice0fReason · 12/10/2019 22:47

It is just so stupid. Any attraction I had for a man would disappear in an instant if I found out that he was female and didn't have real male genitals.
I'm heterosexual, that isn't something I can just get over.

I cannot imagine having to persuade someone that they should have sex with you. It's desperate.

The fact is that transgender people will be limiting their dating pool significantly, and that isn't going to change - especially when they insult the people who turn them down.

Michelleoftheresistance · 12/10/2019 20:13

Every cell of the body is sexed.

However most of the lesbians I know, when they read the whole 'you're a vagina fetishist' thing, shrugged and said ok whatever, if that's what you have to call me, crack on.

When you read the whole 'lesbians should learn to cope with sex with penises' you see it for the pathology it is. Who, lesbian, gay, bi, whatever, would ever want to have sex with someone who believes that their pleasure, their enjoyment of sex should be the only focus for both of you, and you 'coping' is the best you should try for.

It's abusive. It doesn't even see the other person as a personless hole to stick a penis in; it actively sees them as having a duty to service them. And their not enjoying it isn't relevant. Someone with that mind set is someone you should run from as fast as you can.

And note too: a relationship is never mentioned. It's never mentioned in the context of any personal interaction or friendship or anything else. Just the entitlement to be provided with obedient sex servicing from the person of their choice, on command.

Goosefoot · 12/10/2019 19:26

This is true, but it's been what many people have been told is the correct way to be non-sexist - that they are not allowed to think that men and women are significantly different other than their genitals. You even see it in this forum if someone hints at the idea that brains are included in the "whole body" and are therefore sexed, it's immediately dismissed as pink-brain and blue-brain thinking and therefore sexist.

OhHolyJesus · 12/10/2019 11:48

Oh my god Unwise I've never heard that before, how vile.

It's hearing things like that that make me want to fight for girls even more.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 12/10/2019 11:18

Things that attract me to men include.

Their shape, I favour the classic broad shoulder, narrow hip male outline.

Faces, an angular jaw line, a sparkle in the eye, a certain cragginess.

The voice, a voice can reduce me to jelly, deep and rich and oh my..

The smell, no amount of hormones or surgery can ever replicate man smell.

Do I care about penis? Well, yes, when it comes to the actual shagging bit, but here's the thing. I only have sex with one man. I am attracted to thousands. So yes, penis matters, hugely, for that one man. The size, shape, foreskin status of all those other men's penises is irrelevant. I'm never going to see it anyway.

BabyRadFem · 12/10/2019 11:17

Yep

Aspley · 12/10/2019 11:11

It's rather pathetic
They don't understand the nuances of attraction, is anyone attracted to genitals? personally I am attracted to so many other things about women, their hands, neck, faces, voices, smell. It all combines in people who invariably do not have a penis.
This "genital preference" always comes ftom males and does nothing but reaffirm how male they still are.

Tyrotoxicity · 12/10/2019 10:37

Not just silly fools, but immature fools.

I remember many years ago having a conversation with my brother about sexuality, in which I confessed that I found it most peculiar that people would rule out a potential partner based on their genitals. My position was largely informed by being twelve years old with a very limited understanding of adult sexuality.

What excuse adults have for this sort of thinking is beyond me.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 12/10/2019 10:30

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 12/10/2019 10:23

Think it's because men are so used to seeing women as their genitals and nothing more.

Thats it exactly, I think it has to be linked to an increasing porn culture. I think the people who think like this are so disconected to their own humanity that they cannot see the humanity of others.

I am decidedly heterosexual, but its not just my husbands genitals that I am attracted to. Obviously sexuality is about sex but sexual attraction is about the whole person.

People who come out with "but you can't tell a person's sex without examining their genitals" are either deluded or manipulative liars.

Tyrotoxicity · 12/10/2019 10:15

My genital preference is for my sexual partners to have genitals.

Does that make me transphobic?

theunwiseowl · 12/10/2019 10:05

And yes, the whole genital preference / genital fetish is such absurd, immature nonsense

Think it's because men are so used to seeing women as their genitals and nothing more. A hole to put their d*ck in. Think of the saying "every holes a goal"...
