Any more information out there on this?

Speaking of Twitter accounts, it would be great to have as many MNers as possible following the LGBA. Their handle is @AllianceLGB. Don’t depend on finding it using Twitter search - they’re shadowbanned & spoof accounts come up instead.

TruthOnTrial · 02/11/2019 09:42

Yes, thats what I'm thinking.

They have one twitter account for all, or they are being biased and therefore discriminatory.

Unless, they set up separate ones to champion all groups. The largest one with high rates of targetting and abuse victims being women.

The MET are clearly being discriminatory putting one group above another with its 'special' extra efforts for them, against all others, including the support of pursuing vexatious complaints against women for speaking the truth.

When someone tells you something stupid, that doesn't break any laws, or constitute any crime, tell them so and get on with saving lives instead of further harrassing the already harassed. Angry

Why do they insist on pursuing nonsense. I thought actual crimes needing solving and real perps being caught.

merrymouse · 02/11/2019 09:31

has the MET got a twitter account for women, minority races, cultures?

Using the LBG must include T logic, they shouldn't have an LGBT account at all. They must have one account that includes everyone.

TruthOnTrial · 02/11/2019 09:24

Women have been around for ever being discriminated against, has the MET got a twitter account for women, minority races, cultures? Or is it being discrimatory in only championing LGTQ+

Shouldn't they now be hearing what a greater proportion of the population are saying?

OvaHere · 02/11/2019 08:44

I didn't see it.

There's screenshots here of part of the convo but there may have been more.

What happened there with the Met account reinforces my suspicion that at least some of the outrageous bollocks we've seen on social media in terms of immediately shutting down debate and demonizing GC people is the result of individual culty genderists going off piste and the parent organization either not noticing or thinking that calling attention to that after the fact would just create more problems. Seeing an org have the grownups come in, apologize, and indicate that the person playing silly buggers with their organization's social media accounts is being dealt with is a good sign. I don't think we'd have seen that even 6 months ago.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 02/11/2019 08:25

OvaHere what was the original tweet?!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/11/2019 07:53

Are we digging another hole? Goody. I just got paid.

TruthOnTrial · 02/11/2019 00:36

This is so heartwarming to see!

All that funding and support already. Its flying, and so it should.

The MET offer an invitation to speak with LGB Alliance after recanting unprofessional tweet from yesterday.

TemporaryPermanent · 01/11/2019 18:33

60%.

The most interesting comment to me was the one saying 'I thought I was the only one who felt like this!'

TemporaryPermanent · 01/11/2019 08:37

Agree Tirisfal. Simon Fanshawe, Allison Bailey et al didn't get where they are today by having tantrums on social media. They are doers and operators. I like that...

TirisfalPumpkin · 01/11/2019 08:15

distributes cool kombucha to everyone who's been hard at work digging

The LGB Alliance hole is now 51% dug! 403 spades make light work.

It's good that they managed to work out whatever the issue was with JustGiving without getting adversarial, yelling or foot stomping; they've really conducted themselves with dignity. Compare and contrast with Stonewall et al.

Macareaux · 31/10/2019 19:14

Oops sorry. Missed the last posts.

Macareaux · 31/10/2019 19:13

Just giving back up. See twitter account

EmpressLesbianInChair · 31/10/2019 19:05

The initial website’s up too.

NonnyMouse1337 · 31/10/2019 18:20

Woo hoo! :)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/10/2019 18:07

Ooh yes I saw that. I suppose there is a twitter tantrum following that?

Cwenthryth · 31/10/2019 18:02

Just bumping the thread to let anyone interested know that LGB Alliance’s JustGiving page is back up, finally

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 27/10/2019 18:31

Sounds like fucking Game of Thrones

This is actually a great analogy for TRAs and their mates and how they approach the world! But without all the fun stuff like the giant wolves and the dragons.

KatyCarrCan · 27/10/2019 17:25

Italian yy I mean obviously I'm complaining from behind a screen too but as you said we're not affecting anyone's career or livelihoods by discussing on MN. When it comes to RL issues, I use my own name eg on Twitter and in other comments section. Plus, when I've complained to the NSPCC; Girlguiding, etc, I've used my details.
The thing is the first response from Garden Court on Twitter was a standard holding response ie thanks for bringing it to our attention, we'll look into it. It's their statement in The Times that lurches to taking the complaints seriously and hanging Allison out to dry.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 27/10/2019 16:18

Thanks for the address MrsSnippy, I will be finding a card tomorrow to send in.

Update on the FB thing - lgb alliance only started showing up today when I searched, and I haven't changed any settings etc, so something weird was definitely going on there. But found it and joined it now!

BarbaraStrozzi · 27/10/2019 14:25

It always amazes me that companies do act on anonymous complaints on twitter.

The field I work in is "contentious", shall we say. We attract loads of people with only a tenuous grip on reality and some outright dangerous fuckers with extremist political views who have a vested interest because of this, not to mention people with huge financial interests whose vested interests don't align with what we do as part of our everyday business. Needless to say, we have extensive media training before we're allowed to use the company twitter feed, and all of us are very careful about what we say on it (and scrupulous about keeping our personal social media and company activities separate).

Because of this I always find it utterly bizarre that there are companies, firms and organizations out there whose corporate and professional integrity is massively important to their brand identity (Upfield, Always, the NSPCC and now Garden Court Chambers) who don't act with due diligence and a lot of caution when it comes to the uses and many abuses of social media.
