Lesson Two: Kangeroos have three willies, BUT YOU DON'T!!!

Although there's probably a dodgy surgeon out there who would oblige...

Snails? SNAILS????

Biology, Lesson One: You are not a snail.

Lesson Two: Kangeroos have three willies, BUT YOU DON'T!!!

Wow. Stephanie was fantastic. The presenter brought up very pertinent points for the discussion.

Amazed (not in a good way) that it was the man from the Headteacher's organisation who wasn't bothered about the idea of what are essentially trans campaign groups being invited into schools! He sounded captured.

Really pleased Stephanie Davis-Arai pointed out the pressure on girls to get surgery even to be 'non-binary'.

It is bad enough that children of both sexes are being led down medical and surgical pathways to be 'trans' but the non-binary nonsense seems to have a far more detrimental impact on the one sex. Funnily enough not the male one.

It was interesting that they chose to have a fairly neutral person (from NAHT I think) and Transgender Trend, rather than Mermaids or Stonewall, or some such. Wonder how that’ll go down.....

Yes, Helmet I think it was - they started off referencing the boy. “This is non binary though so not like transing”. Stephanie Davies-Arai pointed out girls are seeking double mastectomies to become non binary.
There’s another thread about the interview with the non binary child. I agree, we’re not snails or worms so that’s a load of silliness.

Ah just seen there's another thread on this!

PotholePalace · 10/10/2019 09:10

Caught the end of the interview. Stephanie has a very calming voice. I agree that autism in girls is still massively undiagnosed. And trying to understand why someone wants to trans is so so important. Will go back and re-listen.

Helmetbymidnight · 10/10/2019 09:09

I missed this, but about 7.45 this morning, there was a kid and his Dad talking about how the kid is non-binary and er society needs to move away from stereotypes. It was a mess of using the word gender all over the place and how snails aren't one gender or another.

So I guess this was a follow-up piece?

NellieEllie · 10/10/2019 09:09

Joe Wincock from NAHT said that way forward would be to speak to child and parents...I missed the first bit, and didn’t get much of what he said.
Stephanie also made point that schools are not required to reach re gender identity, some have terrible guidance tho. Seeing lots of young people regretting medical, procedures, loss of fertility, need to protect children from what they read, see online given that wish to transition can lead to a medical pathway.

Great to hear Stephanie D-A on the Today programme

I guess the guy who vetos horrific terfs wasn’t working today?

She is so respectful and reasonable, and so well informed

NellieEllie · 10/10/2019 09:04

Was good - who was the guy? From National Assoc. of Head Teachers? Stephanie given lots of time to speak, sex not gender re privacy, 3/4 of transing kids are girls, over third are autistic prob more, lesbian, gay, not fitting in. Schools needing to look at these reasons for children wanting to trans.

Doing brilliantly - succinct to the point. Sex not gender

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 10/10/2019 08:57

Thank you, listening now

Nick Robinson. He’s normally good on this
