This is so infuriating. Do these people seriously think that all other women they encounter absolutely fucking love gender norms and happily hold up the patriarchy? This in this thread is literally exactly what I and other GC women have been arguing forever yet we are not allowed to make that argument because we don’t have our pronouns in our bio and aren’t friends with enough cool people. Jfc. FYI, NB people, we think the same. Except you get applauded for being brave and we get told to die in a grease fire.

For all the people at the back: I am a woman. I cannot identify out of that. Gendered norms are imposed on me. I wear what is comfortable, not what I think will attract men. I am read as a woman no matter what I wear. I don’t like it because I don’t think gender is good. Repeat ad nauseum.

Cor. That's a proper nork right there 🤣 the Tweeter caught this Speshul Enby dead on, the youtube channel is toe curling. Nothing illustrates better that for women, NB is a sillyarse attempt to escape misogynistic gender rules and expectations, and for men, it's a way to grab some of that sweet Trans privilege action so you can abuse people and feel righteous doing it, without even having to fuck about with make up and scratchy lace undies.

Pronouns do not function as correction fluid for those who are dissatisfied with reality.

👏👏👏 This is an amazing way to put it

Ereshkigal · 06/10/2019 23:00

Got falsely told I was "mansplaining" earlier today and all I could say was "I'm nonbinary but thanks for the erasure and misgendering" and block them. I don't have time for people assuming and then being prejudiced about it.

I figured it was on Twitter, so I wanted to see what was said to cause this. PMSL Grin

It's the toddler tantrummy nature of it that gets me. This impotent anger at reality is such a feature of anything trans, and it really highlights what a sterile activism it is.

This person isn't going to fight to change the gender prison. This person is going to leave the gender prison standing firmly, and bad temperedly demand special concessions for themselves. This person will stamp their foot over still being perceived as a woman, with all that negatively implies because of gender, and demand laws change to tilt the moon to their whim, but will do nothing whatsoever to challenge those negative gender assumptions.

You really aren't any kind of activist, dear. You're just profoundly self regarding, vain and foolish.

Pota2 · 06/10/2019 22:28

Just love how this person thinks the world revolves around her. She doesn’t like gender norms so obviously she is the only one to ever have that opinion. She realises that, whoops, using a slightly different word to describe herself has fuck all effect on sexism. Oh noes, who would have thought that would be the case. But all the women who say they are women have obviously brought their misfortune on themselves so it’s so unfair that I, as a non-binary person, should have to suffer too. The world is so wrong. The best option is for women to continue to be oppressed but for everyone to see how special I am and not oppress me. But only ME. Not the others.

What's the gender for "selfish"?

LangCleg · 06/10/2019 22:18

now perhaps you could move on to the realization that other women are people with rich internal lives too and not just extras in the grand saga of You

I love the way you indulge yourself with these cisheteropatriarchal pipe dreams.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 22:18

There should be a specific gender term for "I adopted this label specifically so I don't have to pretend to care what women think or acknowledge the advantages that being male gives me in any way".

I once knew a guy who got very publicly called out for mansplaining and quite literally came back and said he'd realized he was a woman a couple of weeks later.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 06/10/2019 22:16

Or should i say they in case someone gets over excited and reports

Bet they weren’t ‘falsely told’ either

Bet they were mansplaining the hell out of the other person

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 06/10/2019 22:14

Bet he wasnt ‘falsely told’ either

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 06/10/2019 22:13

Couldn’t be arsed to c&p

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 22:12

Behold, the kind of friends you attract when you frame the world that way!

Got falsely told I was "mansplaining" earlier today and all I could say was "I'm nonbinary but thanks for the erasure and misgendering" and block them. I don't have time for people assuming and then being prejudiced about it.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 06/10/2019 22:12

‘Got told off for mansplaining and told them i was non binary’ (paraphrased)

Saying you are NB doesn’t mean you are not mansplaining you numpty

(One of the comments on the linked thread)

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 22:08

I do not PRESENT as a woman. I am READ as a woman. I am not an active party enacting cisheteropatriarchal norms, rather, I have cisheteropatriarchy placed upon me. I have no control over it.

So you're like most other women then? Bravo, congrats on discovering this fact about yourself, now perhaps you could move on to the realization that other women are people with rich internal lives too and not just extras in the grand saga of You.
