Online if you want to take it. You translate the drag phrase.
How nice to see that those putting it together didn't think that "fishy" meaning a very feminine drag queen may be offensive....

Yup, and creased (not creased) at the dudes that want fishy to carry on being a word they use about women and girls.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 04/10/2019 20:34

Anyway, can we agree that using “fish” is misogynistic

Yep

SophoclesTheFox · 04/10/2019 20:16

Well, I stood zero chance of getting any RuPaul references, as I don’t watch it because I dislike drag. Top trolling, genius 😂

Anyway, can we agree that using “fish” is misogynistic and the bbc should give its woke head a wobble?

Waterl00 · 04/10/2019 20:09

And to go back to the BBC using it, this is a classic example of the queer identity arrivistes being clueless about the context they are operating in.

The naive non binary employees who are working at a job level where a quiz is about the difficulty level they are safe with are so inexperienced they can't even do that without actually understanding what they are regurgitating.

I watched RuPaul on Graham Norton last week, he is an enormous ego, and that's his only attribute. Foolish followers can't carry off using his insults as they don't have the charisma.

BeMoreMagdalen · 04/10/2019 20:03

Well, that's the fatal flaw in announcing repeatedly that you are just trolling for shits and giggles. Someone may well report you and the mods do like a quick win when this board is such a ball ache to moderate. What a shame. Those poor students will have to do some work instead of watching Mac trying to be cool.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 04/10/2019 19:57

Oh

mac was deleted

And so quickly...

Datun · 04/10/2019 19:43

God save me from wanky students who fondly think their every utterance is of the slightest interest to anyone but their mum. Or possibly their gran.

Not to mention exceptionally childish and demonstrating you're not remotely interested in MN for anything other than playing games.

#usingwomen

Melroses · 04/10/2019 19:14

No, you are supposed to drop it in some sort of context. Randomly dropping it is boringly pointless.

TinselAngel · 04/10/2019 19:07

Surely just posting something on its own is not dropping a quote in?

BeMoreMagdalen · 04/10/2019 19:03

Mac is tres witty. Dropping in drag race catchphrases to see if we 'get' them. Oh how the students and colleagues must be chortling. What a devastating comeback for accusations of defending misogyny; treating women with contempt. Go on, slay us all by backing out saying Vanjie over and over. That'll definitely show how clever you are.

testing987654321 · 04/10/2019 19:00

There have been a few quotes I've been dropping at the request of students/colleagues to see what your reactions are.

I don't think I can come up with a better definition of "not in the spirit" than this. Not that I would report you as that's not what I am about.

But nice of you to make it clear you are not here for a genuine discussion.

Quaffy · 04/10/2019 18:57

Honestly mac this is all so random and has nothing to do with the issue at hand which is use of the word “fishy”.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 04/10/2019 18:27

Why would they care what slang strangers use on social media

Lack of anything interesting going on in their life?

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 04/10/2019 18:26

Ive like Ru Paul for a very long time

And ive watched a fair bit of drag race but the i find the ‘fishy’ comments dreadful, very jarring

Oh like the fake ‘my wife is dying’ creep? Now they deffo smell fishy.

Melroses · 04/10/2019 18:07

Anyone else getting unsolicited DMs from someone who wants to ‘chat’ about drag? (Creepy imo). It’s a forum - why would I want to —get lectured— chat with a stranger via DMs? What don’t they want to say in public?

I once contributed to a thread arguing about what order to put your underwear on and got DMs from some creepy fucker about suspenders urgh Envy. MN deleted them.

Mac1990 · 04/10/2019 17:45

Not today Satan

the two sexes, however, are real

Justhadathought · 04/10/2019 16:23

FYI - Feminism is not for women only. It's is about equality between all genders

For your information there are quite a number here who know full well that feminism is about the struggle for the dignity and respect of women; the female sex. Gender is a social construct - and the erosion of rigid gendered roles and stereotypes is the aim. 'Genders' do not exist in material reality - only in the mind. Sexes, however, is real.

Equality of value, respect, dignity of the two sexes.
