Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Not having sex with someone because they don't have the right genitals is transphobic. No prizes for guessing who's claiming this

RM is busy trying to justify their support for a particularly unpleasant tweet yesterday. For those of you who are blocked, I'll add some grabs.

@ThatCurlyGirl

you should never force someone to have sex with someone when they don't want to

Yeah, what he clearly meant to say here is you should never force any MAN

So sorry to hear what you went through aswell, you are the brave one

ScrimshawTheSecond · 02/10/2019 16:18

I do genuinely feel sorry for Harrop. He's now struggling to rationalise gay = transphobic. It isn't easy to deal with cognitive dissonance, especially so when so much of your identity is enmeshed with it.

I also feel sorry for Rachel, who is only laying out clearly the underlying premise of trans ideology; The doc has at least being open, clear and consistent.

If one is to accept the maxim that transwomen are women and transmen are men, then any form of sexuality other than 'pansexual' is, by definition, trans exclusionary. Seems pretty clear to me.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/10/2019 16:08

It’s like watching a dog trying to do maths.

Michelleoftheresistance · 02/10/2019 16:07

Oh lord this is painful. Watching Harrop trying to work out how to admit he knows exactly what a man is and that he does exclusively fancy men without being burned as a witch.... I'm almost sorry for him.

The incoherent ranting of the individual he quotes... I'm honestly done with anyone who thinks like this and has this much time on their hands to disappear this far up their own behinds. Do whatever you want. Be as hard work as you want. I and reality will be over here, and we're busy thanks, so please be insane quietly.

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 15:45

RM and Haddock seem to fall over themselves to applaud bravery in every sentence, but they're pretty fucking cowardly when it comes to explaining why it's one rule for them and one rule for everyone else.

Exhibit A

RM - gender reassignment surgery is vital to many trans women who feel their genitals do not reflect their self identified gender, meaning genitalia is intrinsically linked to our sense of self

Also RM - if you place any importance on genitals and make them intrinsically linked to gender you are a transphobe and if you don't want to fuck someone because of their genitalia you are a transphobe

Exhibit B

AH - if gay WOMEN don't want to shag a trans person because of their genitals they are transphobes

Also AH - if I and other gay MEN don't want to shag a trans person because of their genitals, we are well within our rights to say no, you should never force someone to have sex with someone when they don't want to

In honour of them and their unwavering commitment to utter self indulgence, do you know who I think is brave?

Me. Because I was raped. By a man. With a penis. You know why it was rape? Because I didn't consent. It's a pretty simple concept really.

I honestly don't know if I'm really fucking angry or really fucking sad about this shit getting more and more unbelievable. I flit between the two.

The terrible thing is I've always thought how lovely it would be to have a daughter and instil in her that she can be anything she wants to be. Now I kind of hope I have a son instead. How sad is that.

Meatycankles · 02/10/2019 15:12

Maybe he needs to admit that he was transphobic, thank RM for educating him, and promise to do better in future.

Doyoumind · 02/10/2019 14:15

By which I mean the community rallying around him and not RM.

Doyoumind · 02/10/2019 14:15

To the PP who asked, no, they haven't turned on Haddock. They are rallying around him.

Titiana picking up in it is good because it puts it in front of a much bigger audience than RM would normally reach.

We're eventually going to end up with a situation where 99% of Twitter has been added to a TERF blocklist and the remaining 1% are eyeing each other up suspiciously and scouring old tweets for evidence of wrongthink that hasn't been noticed yet. While arguing that most people agree with them really and if they can just get all the TERFs banned then...I dunno, maybe a door to Narnia opens or something.

RoyalCorgi · 02/10/2019 13:51

Someone has put this very reasonable question to Dr Haddock:

'So in the spirit of “finding common ground” will you now be apologising to all the lesbians you called “TERFS” for the same “hate crime” you now stand accused of?'

Strangely, Dr H hasn't answered. Is it true that Dr Rapey and friends are now calling Haddock a TERF? I do hope so.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 02/10/2019 13:46

"You're allowed to have preferences, just be aware that if your preference is not to fuck trans people that makes you a terrible person"

And then a bunch of other idiots all "you go hun, don't feel bad when people inevitably call you rapey".

I mean, one way to avoid that would be to stop trying to guilt trip people about not wanting sex with you? Just a suggestion.

Of yp

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 02/10/2019 13:46

LordProf, that's what I assumed, but reading the follow up comments I don't think Buck was being sarcastic.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/10/2019 13:37

@whatsthecomingoverthehill is that the old argument or a new one? I think buck was wading in on the side of common sense and decency? I did see their comment and thought one sentence was a bit iffy but that the !!! was meant to be sarcastic.

andyoldlabour · 02/10/2019 13:32

Titania McGrath, the parody twitter character, invented by Andrew Doyle to expose the sheer madness of woke culture.
Named Titania after the "Queen of the fairies", because the people who promote the hyper inclusive culture are fantasists - off with the fairies.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 02/10/2019 13:24

Well, well well, if it isn't the consquences of my actions...

Harrop's done with Mckinnon.
Then there's another male person going off on an incoherent rant about things, contradicting themselves at each step. But even they seem to be done with McKinnon too. And then all the wokiest of woke are confusedly trying to apologise for something they are not even sure they've done or thought and promising to do better.

Bring the petards, for they need hoisting!

Where’s buck angel when you need ‘em?

Getting into an argument about whether cancer surgery is more important than reassignment surgery unfortunately.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 02/10/2019 13:03

Proof that he doesn't see transwomen as women

Yep. Just like Owen Jones. This is how we know they both see TWs as men.

Nuttyfellalovesnutella · 02/10/2019 13:03

Only a bloke would think this.

AryaStarkWolf · 02/10/2019 12:58

and for the utterly fawning respect with which Haddock treats Rapey

Proof that he doesn't see transwomen as women

RoyalCorgi · 02/10/2019 12:56

I realise this was several pages back, but can I just say that the exchange between Dr Rapey and Dr Haddock has made my day? It's absolutely hilarious, both for Rapey calling Haddock a transphobe, and for the utterly fawning respect with which Haddock treats Rapey, compared to the way he talks to women.

TheChampagneGalop · 02/10/2019 12:25

Have you noticed RMcK's cutesy anime Pokemon avatar on twitter? Yet another anime avatar. And no RMcK using it won't make you seem less like an adult rapey male tweeter.

AryaStarkWolf · 02/10/2019 12:20

I think we should all be encouraging McKinnon to keep talking. Loudly.

Pretty much

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2019 11:07

I know it was meant as an aside, and I don't want to derail but re the tweets in this post:
As an aside cos it’s not worth a thread but it is worth a lol and this thread is commenting on Twitter info...

I don't think it is a lol, it may be the context in which MNHQ is making moderating decisions which feminists are finding biased. Of course, the depiction in those tweets is deceitful, people are banned for repeatedly breaking talk guidelines (often the 'normal' ones). There are trans posters who contribute positively here from time to time but by and large the sensible ones understand that this board is for 'feminism and women's rights'.

Datun · 02/10/2019 11:04

It's up there with that one who just replied with "sod off" to anyone who disagreed

That was awesome ! 🤣🤣🤣
