Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Not having sex with someone because they don't have the right genitals is transphobic. No prizes for guessing who's claiming this

RM is busy trying to justify their support for a particularly unpleasant tweet yesterday. For those of you who are blocked, I'll add some grabs.

I’m just waiting for the ‘I’m a real doctor’ comment and the fur will fly!

Well this isn't a thread derailment or anything. I thought this was about RM and their everyone must be coerced into sex with me comments?

And this from Lang should be the end of that little spin off

But women try to kill themselves as often, if not more often, than men. Men choose more violent methods so succeed more often.

I am at peak Mckinnon in fact beyond the peak, I am over them. Still carry on showing the world what you really are Rach.

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 18:13

And thanks @LangCleg too, hoping they missed me mentioning that previously on here because I don't want to have that experience belittled so thought best to assume that some people saw the sad irony in it too Thanks

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 18:08

Thanks @BuzzShitbagBobbly that's exactly what I was saying and I think that was clear to almost everyone.

It's exhausting isn't it. It's quite impressive the wilful refusal to show any empathy.

Anyway, I'm off to see my a few of my equally wonderful boy and girl cousins now and looking forward to having a lovely evening with themSmile

LangCleg · 02/10/2019 18:08

Ok, I'm wrong. Men are killing themselves in droves because life is just too easy...

But women try to kill themselves as often, if not more often, than men. Men choose more violent methods so succeed more often.

Male suicide is a topic that you might want to bring up with other men, where you may influence things for the better. It is not a subject for you to use as a goad or a gotcha to rape survivors on a board intended for feminists to converse with one another.

HTH.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 02/10/2019 18:06

Do you not understand the difference between words like "easy", "easier" and "easiest"?

Learning that would greatly help your comprehension of what is being said.

LordRandallXV · 02/10/2019 18:04

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 02/10/2019 18:02

That's not how I read it at all.

I read it that pp was praising her young relative for being aware that men have an easier social ride though life than women (due to general patriarchal society).

You have to be looking hard to turn that into a maliciously written, out of context, gleeful jibe about male suicide.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2019 18:01

One way and another the thread seems to now be on the subject of men who apparently only care about stuff that affects men. I wonder if DrH will realise why he's suddenly not in line with DrMcK?

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 18:01

Crying into my coffee?! What a weird thing to say. I don't think you're making as much sense or as many actual points as you think you are. I'm not guilt shaming you, you are doing just fine shaming yourself. Bye bye Smile

One suicide is one too many. Men 'successfully' killing themselves is a terrible scourge. But do bear in mind that suicide prevention in this country is in fact a success story, in recent years things overall are getting better. Also that suicide attempts remain higher among women than men.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 02/10/2019 17:47

’So in the spirit of “finding common ground” will you now be apologising to all the lesbians you called “TERFS” for the same “hate crime” you now stand accused of?'

He’ll never answer that. But I hope the question is secretly tormenting him.

I wonder what he thinks about Stonewall erasing the concept of same-sex attraction?

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 17:44

My last post was to @LordRandallXV obviously.

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 17:44

It's very sad that while I was keen to agree with you that the suicide statistics related to young men are heartbreaking, but you found yourself unable to muster even an acknowledgment of the statistics regarding sexual assaults on women.

RoyalCorgi · 02/10/2019 17:42

CurlyGirl - give your cousin a "Well done" from me. Already showing more intelligence and maturity than any number of people four times his age.

As for Naomi Wolf, is she thick or what?

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 17:42

My cousin not my son.

And I said easier not easy.

Good job not attempting to acknowledge any of the points I made at all and instead opting for an accusatory and almost literal "well you started it".

Nevermind!

LordRandallXV · 02/10/2019 17:35

Well, you brought men into it by saying you were proud of your son saying that they "have it easy". 🤷‍♀️

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 17:29

@LordRandallXV

Indeed. This must be why 4x as many young men kill themselves.

I agree that it is absolutely terrible that there is such an issue with suicide in young men, it's heartbreaking.

But you saying that in response to my previous post would be like me saying "well one in five women will be sexually assaulted at least once in their life". One doesn't outdo the other, they are both terrible.

I've lost a couple of male friends to suicide and I don't think they'd like to have seen their struggles weaponised in response to a post about girls being sexually harassed at school to be honest.

The fact your response showed a total lack of empathy makes it even less productive.

ChattyLion · 02/10/2019 17:25

Ugh that Naomi Wolf thread.

I’m also really starting to see that guilt trip ‘feminist’ critique to the reasoned objections that GC woman are making, that these objections are ‘splitting the left’.. as the exact same shit as ‘if you loved me, you would....’.

Well maybe ‘the left’, maybe if you try being a bit less dickish and actually take women’s views on board then you wouldn’t be losing activist female support like this?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 02/10/2019 17:07

So just to clarify my understanding according to the gospel of RM:

  1. Man is just a concept that means whatever anyone wants it to mean. There is no official definition to be able to confirm that that is the name of the person-type that I like (big men with dicks who can use them to get erections and penetrate me).
  1. Because 'man' means anything and everything, I should like all people who call themselves men, even if they have physical attributes I am not remotely interested in (e.g a vagina).
  1. Not wanting sex with the person with a vagina person makes me a reprehensible transphobe and I need to learn to accept vagina.

Batshit isn't the word for it.

LordRandallXV · 02/10/2019 17:02

The thing is boys don't really need to be as brave as girls coz everything's easier for them.

Indeed. This must be why 4x as many young men kill themselves.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 02/10/2019 16:51

girl golfing stepho is so deluded. Their "trans positive" message was to behave in an obnoxious troll like way.
I will never forget the extra sock puppets and rape threats that appeared on those threads as well. Poor Carro. Similar stuff happened on the kwiw thread on Hayden.

Really creepy and mumsnet staff did well.

Grey rock, grey rock. Arrghhh

ThatCurlyGirl · 02/10/2019 16:42

Thank you @AryaStarkWolf that was really nice to read ThanksThanksThanks

And I meant to say the other day there was a glimmer of hope from my cousin, a brilliant and thoughtful eleven year old boy.

Picked him up from school and he said that day some girls had gotten a bollocking for swearing at a group of older boys whispering about their boobs (GIVE ME STRENGTH) he said:

"It was quite brave of (girl's name) and her friends to stand up to older boys who are a bit scary. The thing is boys don't really need to be as brave as girls coz everything's easier for them."

My instant reaction - utter pride that he gets it and respects girls for standing up to sexual harassment.

My next reaction - shit, how sad is it that he and his schoolmates are already witnessing sexual harassment and girls being punished for fighting it because apparently telling a boy to piss off (not even swearing tbh) is worse than talking about a girls tits, even when she is at school supposedly in a safe place.

And my next reaction - bloody hell my eleven year old cousin understands sexual harassment, sexism and society's expectations of men and women more than the powers that be.

FML.

This is brilliant.

Naomi Wolf is getting into it with Titania McGrath on Twitter.

Wolf is #TeamMcKinnon. Grin

twitter.com/naomirwolf/status/1179379426758418432

"The shameful anti-trans movement in the UK has connections with the US Koch-funded Heritage Foundation and its cynical manufacturing of hatred should be examined very critically".

Titania:

twitter.com/TitaniaMcGrath/status/1179383807562125312

"I totally agree, Doctor Wolf.

Anyone who claims that women don’t have testicles must be part of a secret cynical network of evil cynical conservatives who use cynical manufacturing techniques to manufacture hatred in a cynical way.

#ExamineThemNow

Grin at UK feminists being funded by cock.
