Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Not having sex with someone because they don't have the right genitals is transphobic. No prizes for guessing who's claiming this

RM is busy trying to justify their support for a particularly unpleasant tweet yesterday. For those of you who are blocked, I'll add some grabs.

Sorry, somedyke. You're absolutely right and my post was unhelpful.

Ereshkigal · 30/09/2019 19:07

And yes of course this applies to heterosexual people in the same way, but the fight for gay and lesbian rights and acceptance by society is an ongoing one. It's incredibly regressive that members of the LGBT community are perpetuating it.

Ereshkigal · 30/09/2019 19:03

I agree, Somedyke. Yes anyone can remove consent at any point for any reason. But what is being discussed here is homophobia. Non acceptance of the right to exclusive same sex attraction. I don't think we should lose sight of this.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/09/2019 19:01

Two of those three reviews wanted to give the book zero stars. I'm not sure the third was any keener.

Ereshkigal · 30/09/2019 18:59

Seriously, I'm increasingly thinking we need to organise a massive campaign aimed at teenaged girls, school packs, the lot, all about consent and what every female has a right to in their relationships and treatment by others.

So on board with this.

SomeDyke · 30/09/2019 18:55

I think perhaps part of the intention here is to do exactly what some people are, in all innocence, doing on this thread. Conflating sexual orientation with sexual preferences. It in effect minimizes what lesbians like myself are saying -- I don't want to have a relationship with you, not because of your funny genitalia, but because you are a male. Not because of your hobby, or your appearance, or your history, but because you are (and always will be) male. And you will remain male whatever surgery or hormones you have, however you dress, what hobbies you do or don't take up.

But of course, TRAs would like us to pretend that sex and biology aren't fixed, that it is what is inside that matters, that I should be attracted to someones secret inner female essence, whatever their actual sex. That actual biology and sex don't matter, and that like other sexual preferences, we can be taught to accept them if we try hard enough and convince ourselves that we are bad for feeling that way. Actually, I have heard that argument so many times when it comes to actual sexual preferences (try it, you might like it, why be so vanilla...........).

Of course, we all know that it is only women who get so berated for trying to have actual boundaries. Same ole same ole, we know misogyny when it comes through the door. Very male, every time!

Ereshkigal · 30/09/2019 18:55

I do sometimes wonder if Rachel is conducting a psychological experiment on the lines of what's the most outrageous, offensive thing they can say or do and some people will still go along with them

It wouldn't be that surprising given that RM wrote a book about deceiving people (I enjoyed the three reviews)

Justasking you probably follow someone who has had all followers added to a block list.

The thing that gets me every time with RM is how much they remind me of my abusive ex (father to my DC). The narcissism, the arrogance, shutting down debate, the vitriol. I know this kind of thing has been pointed out before but the similarities are stark.

I clicked on the link re: twitter it said I was blocked. This puzzled me because I never comment on twitter, how odd.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/09/2019 18:45

I can think of inserts other than a mild 'away'---- - I applaud your restraint , baronessB.

ThatCurlyGirl · 30/09/2019 18:38

For someone so hellbent on being called a woman, RM seems to really hate women. Interesting.

MouthyHarpy · 30/09/2019 18:35

The McCyclidt tweeted about women with “funny looking vaginas”

A) I think they mean “vulva”.

And
b) they really don’t like women, do they?

BeMoreMagdalen · 30/09/2019 18:31

There are really only two options that make sense to me. Either McKinnon is the one narcissist to rule them all and in the darkness bind them, or McKinnon is doing a real time application of McKinnon's PhD thesis and attempting to show that you can say absolutely anything and get away with it if you do it with enough bravado.

And actually, I suspect I'm right on both counts.

DoctorTwo · 30/09/2019 18:09

@BaronessBomburst your redesign is corking. :o

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/09/2019 18:03

Well some people are just funny looking full stop.

Fraggling · 30/09/2019 18:02

Funny looking vagina is such a bloke thing to say

  1. How is Rachel even looking up there? Presume means vulva
  2. How fucking rude to describe a woman's vulva as 'funny looking',. Young women are getting labioplasty it's increasing numbers as they don't meet what they see in porn. In real life women's genitals are pretty varied. And that's fine, no matter what awful men say
  3. If by 'funny looking vagina' Rachel means a penis then that's ridiculous
Grimbles · 30/09/2019 17:55

McK is basically a trans Hopkins now. Spews out any old shit to get a bit of attention.

Makesmilingyourbesthobby · 30/09/2019 17:53

I haven't heard such nonsense in a long time, I'll sleep with who I am attracted too, date who I want too and say no when I want too, they kind of pot calling kettle black here, I have my sexual preference's and I'm not attracted to a vagina same as everybody else has theirs even them, I certainly wouldn't be consenting to it rapey much

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/09/2019 17:52

Women's feelings don’t count. Anyone born and brought up a boy won’t always get that.

JellySlice · 30/09/2019 17:52

Yes, go away.

Not having sex with someone because they don't have the right genitals is transphobic. No prizes for guessing who's claiming this
fantasmasgoria1 · 30/09/2019 17:51

If I had gone on a date with someone I had been told was a man and they had turned out to be a woman then I have the right to refuse to sleep with them. You are attracted to whoever you are attracted to end of. I probably havent explained it properly but this is absolutely ridiculous.

WrongKindOfFace · 30/09/2019 17:47

Oh FFS, anyone can turn down anyone for any reason. And that’s ok. Being forced to continue a sexual encounter is fucking rape or sexual assault.

I once dumped someone because I really didn’t like his name. /shallow

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/09/2019 17:44

‘You date people’. Well some people come across as so unpleasant they can only hope that some people go on genitals alone.

ThatCurlyGirl · 30/09/2019 17:42

"Life's not fair"
"You don't date genitals you date people"

RM. I can only think you are deliberately trolling at this stage.

If generals aren't important and life isn't fair then why have I spent my life SUPPORTING people's rights to transition?! I've supported this right, for years!

I have also supported the rights of myself and other women to have full control over who we choose to have sex with.

You cannot have it both ways.

In your world, all the things you say have a common denominator - those of us born women (or the term you insist on using, loaded with vitriol, "cis women") do not get the final say on who we are comfortable sharing a bathroom, a relationship or a bed with. Ever.

You are fucking over all of my trans friends who are embarrassed you claim to speak for them all as they wouldn't dream of putting any woman or man in a situation in which they feel obliged to perform a sex act on anyone for fear of being called transphobic otherwise.

Shame on you.

Sparkyduchess · 30/09/2019 17:38

Wow, big Rach has REALLY let the mask slip!

I didn’t think I could find McKinnon any more revolting, turns out I was wrong
